How is it, is Win-10 nice?

I'm like losing patience [lol]

star2000shadow 08-30-2015 10:45 AM

i can't upgrade until i get a new computer 'sigh' pretty soon nothin will work on this computer 'le sigh'

Emma Corrin 08-30-2015 05:29 PM

@Cora: I like it! I like having my start menu back - but it's a little frustrating on my desktop simply for the fact that the update is universal? Like, it's the same exact set up for laptops, tablets, 2 in 1's, and desktops - even if you don't have the touchscreen capability. So it has all of these touchscreen options that you obviously have to have off, but I'm a person who doesn't like clutter so it bugs me that it's not a different set up. Then again, I know desktops are becoming obsolete and they're all getting high-tech anyways, so it could just be me xD; I do like the set-up on my 2 in 1 laptop though, but that's because I need to utilize those features for that laptop [yes]

@Star: But! Look at it this way, all of the older games and programs won't work on the newer computers, so it does still have its advantages if you play older games like Sims and such! I know I'd love to have a Windows 98 computer back to be perfectly honest. There are so many older games I'd love to introduce my future kids to but they don't have them accessible on new platforms yet. (Ex. Reader Rabbit, Putt-Putt, Lemmings, etc.) :( By the time I have kids, in like 5 years, games like that will probably be a thing of the past and it'll all be these new high-tech gaming crap that I personally don't feel is as educational because it's all about the HD-factor etc. instead of the educational content. I do like that ABC Mouse website though - I've heard really great things about that so that's something I would consider. [yes]

I like Windows XP because i know where everything is. it's never gone KPUT unless the harddrives been going and is relitively stable. oh heck is as stable as any of hte windows platforms i've seen.

Emma Corrin 08-30-2015 09:04 PM

Oh I forgot all about XP! Yes - that was a great system too - I didn't have any problems with it either!! It was when I got Windows 7+ that I had tons of issues - especially with 8 and 8.1. Just. No. 10 doesn't seem bad so far though - hopefully it stays positive! I still miss my older games though - I'm still hoping they come through and make new versions of them!!

Cora 08-30-2015 11:46 PM

I liked 7 honestly, 7 was just an upgraded XP. 8 was really the big change.

Kent 08-30-2015 11:50 PM

I loved windows 7. I was sad that when I got a new computer I could only get one with windows 8. > 3<
But I've got used to windows 8 now~ Not that I utilize all of its capabilities...

Emma Corrin 08-31-2015 12:10 AM

@Cora: I'm not sure if it was the system of the computers themselves but I had a ton of them do the death screens and fail on me after only a short period of time having them - and a lot of the time I had issues with my programs too - it wasn't until Windows 7 that I started having those issues regularly so I've always attributed it to that!

@Kent: I'd been able to get used to Windows 8 on my desktop because I could ignore 90% of it by having all of my icons on my desktop - it was the only way for me to go - so for the most part I was able to ignore that stupid tablet interface that it gave me because I never had to go into it! If I had to, I'd never have gotten used to it - it's seriously pain in the butt, especially because it's really hard to close out of the programs once you have them open - I never quite understood how to do it lol Plus it took up your whole screen so you couldn't flip easily back and forth between things!

Cora 08-31-2015 12:21 AM

Interesting, I've never had those issues with 7 >.>

Kent 08-31-2015 12:46 AM

Eh? I have a touch screen so it is really easy to flip back and forth between the different apps and close them. I think without a touchscreen you could close it by dragging it downwards? But I can't remember. But I've never used the tablets interface ever since I've been able to start my laptop on the desktop interface. XD

I think I've had a few issues with window 7 freezing on me several times. But I think that might've been because my laptop was a dell? Really not sure.

star2000shadow 08-31-2015 12:48 AM

Star most likely will cling to her windows XP until it Kaputs.. cause i just CAN'T see myself using anything else..

Cora 08-31-2015 11:00 AM

It could have been my computers then! I mean, bought the "cheap" ones that were around $400 - I refuse to spend a lot on a computer lol I can't justify it! So that could be why I had the issues maybe?

My desktop doesn't have the touchscreen capability - so the tablet interface literally does me no good and apps are seriously pointless for a desktop. If I invested in a touchscreen monitor then that would be another story - but I just have a regular monitor - though this one is very large because my brother gave me his old one and all of his monitors are large for gaming purposes lol

I've only ever had HPs - I had one Acer laptop that was horrible and we had Dell computers at school that I hated so I've always stuck with HP. :3

Lol! That's okay hun! Can't wait to see what you set up! :D

Kent 09-01-2015 03:49 AM

I didn't exactly want a touchscreen, but my dad was paying and it was the computer I liked the most out of the other choices. XD

Emma Corrin 09-01-2015 04:59 AM

Lol!! That's always the fun part when someone else is buying - find the one you like best out of the choices you're given!

I did get touchscreen for my new laptop though - I had to buy one for college and so I bought a 2 in 1 - it's actually quite handy! Still have no idea how to get the keyboard off, but ya know xD;

@Emma - Yeah, totally. XD

lol It didn't come with a manual? XD

Emma Corrin 09-01-2015 11:27 PM

Oh it did - and I kind of get the concept of it - but I haven't tried it yet xD;
I hate manuals to be honest! I never use them unless I have to xD;
