Like my other thread that was about eye color lets now simply chat about all over avi theme color

Know ive notice that alot well say
"well i did this because others told me too"
I mean color matching is all fine and dandy but when is a balance avi become a nive avi to a simple bland of colors?.

I fear we're loosing site of a good fun theme and perhaps a story behind are avi, for color balancing.

Honestly, I love matching avis, but at the same time, I don't tend to make avis with all matching colours. I love making them with contrasting ones. Like in real life, I would never ever be caught dead wearing Orange and Blue, but here on Mene I am all for making an Orange and Blue based avi. Sure, my avi will match all the way through (just because I like having colours balance and an esthetically pleasing avi) but that doesn't mean I will go around hating all avis that don't just match.

i love to make themed avatars, but they arent allways color-balanced.
its so sad that most of the people here look at the color balancing and not the theme of the avis.
sometimes i see very balanced avatars but they look not very good and they get better ratings then themed avis :o

sometimes i wanna make balanced avis, too.
But i dont have so much money for all of the items i need so im getting bored with it and i start a themed avi again =/

I love themed avatars. I won't put anyone down for using a theme rather than matching, actually, I'll support it. I prefer matching myself, though sometimes I like to have a theme and matching. Kinda like my current avatar.

Besides...those who usually balance their avatars and say because they were told to do so don't have to listen to everyone else. I'm pretty sure if they were told to do so, they asked for advice and that what was given to them. The person doesn't have to listen to other people. They don't have to asked to be rated or criticized. People are free to do as please with their avatars.

Kiako- your color choice for this avi is so out there! but yea useing out there combo balancing is almost a must.

kasakir- Yea i know, thats why mostly in my rates i give 2
one for well balnce since that what most people want
and one for theme. U can tell when people just wanna color balance becouse they have like devil horns, angel stuff, loli items.. its just all over the place. makes me sad.

neller- Per presser really like at high school type of junk.
If a really good avi person who has alot of gold tells yea that ur skirt pink is a shade off from the rest, ur gonna change it. becouse they well this feeling of seniority over them. specially the new guys.

i ampretty OCD about it matching and being balanced. but i also like having a good theme. though the theme tends to be less important to be because i like the pretty colours.

that being said, i really enjoy different colour combinations. if everyone was OCD about matching red black and white, it would just get boring. no offence to people who wear the red black and white colour combo, i just think that if your colour combination is common, the theme takes more presidency over the matchy matchy, because at that point its the theme that sets your avi apart.

now having both a unique theme and a unique or uncommon colour combination is the key to having a great avatar IMO. the balancing and matching help with the flow of the outfit which is really important but very hard to fix when its wrong in and outfit.

The throughout color balance thing is getting very old to my eye. They all look the same to me. Just with different colors. I mean matching colors and balance is nice and all, but not when you have ten other people who did the same thing. I tried the balance thing a while ago, but got very bored very easily. Just simply not my thing. Any Avi site I go on, I always prefer simple Avi's over the over-cluttered balanced ones.

If I really wanted I would get myself a balanced Avi, but I much rather play with the hair and donate to newer members. But that is just my two cents.

Anyways theres a point to where everyone useing these crazy colors start looking the same thow. Theres only so many colors out there in the world so everything is going to be repeated.

BLACKllASH- But your avi is so fun looking, it kinds shows that ur the type of person u talk to just to have fun!

I wanted to make an Avi that looked well, horrible. No matching patterns, no theme, and no set colors. The point of these sites is to have fun^^

but tbh, mainly to annoying the over critical people of Avatar chat. lol

I, personally, enjoy themed avatars just as much as matching ones. In fact, my last avatar was Alice in Wonderland based, and I know many who thought the color of the stockings clashed heavily with the rest of the outfit (and suggested I change them - I didn't), that was half the fun of it.

That being said, I'm also a fan of matching from time to time, simply because it's a challenge to come up with something that not only blends, layers, and balances colors and items well, but hasn't been done in quite that way before.

As for that bit about "seniority." I'm not particularly clever when it comes to fashion related activities and matching avatars is no exception, for the most part. As such, I find that many members who are far newer then myself have managed to create something far more creative and original than whatever I have managed to throw together at that particular moment. Seniority suggests that you'd listen to those who have been here longer and have been creating matching avatars for longer, which is clearly not what you're trying to get across.

Consider it more talent or experience than seniority, as there isn't much a scale of who is better. There are merely a slew of individuals who either have a knack for it, or have worked at improving their avatar creating abilities for a long period of time, and a few who either don't care or would like to work toward improving their own avatar creating abilities. I wouldn't say that any one of these individuals was more or less talented than the others simply because you never know who will come up with what next.

As for opinions on color. Those who want opinions tend to ask for them, meaning they are open to possibilities and thereby receptive to future change. Those that aren't asking, are rarely ever lectured for "choosing the wrong shade of pink for their skirt," because, in the end, creating a spiffy avatar is more of a personal challenge than anything else, and what is seen as "good, interesting, of balanced" differs between individuals. Thus, those that ask for help get it, and those that don't are left to their own devices (and are likely just as capable as everyone else).

I mean it's more eye pleasing. But sometimes not matching just looks right. But black and red always go together so i try to match those two colors. And it seems that everything comes in either black, red, brown or white. So easy to match.

I love matching avatars.
I think they look so much better, when all the colors fit together, and it all just flows.
If you don't like matching avatars, you don't have to listen to my opinion, but if you're going to ask for a rate, then don't bitch when I give you what I think. :)

I personally find making a matching avatar a fun challenge, because not only are they beautiful, they can be difficult!

That said, I won't pass up an excellent themed avatar, either. But I would probably prefer the matching one, if they were going head-to-head.
