Seiki you are a lifesaver.

I was probably not going to have time until monday on this I've been so in and out all weekend.

We had a really bad rainstorm near me that has flooded many places in the area. While my home is safe. The building where I work has sprung a leak into our backroom which is currently over two feet deep and getting deeper and we've been put on a all hands on deck while we try to save as much of our merchandise as we can. That is not usually the job a I swing long shifts but I've been pulling 16 hour shifts entirely on my feet. My boss finally forced me to go home when I nearly collapsed from exhaustion to go get some sleep, but I'll be back in tomorrow.

We also have to contend with keeping the store open even though the system is down and we can only take cash. The whole thing is a nightmare. The lights have been out four times, the leak in the back room is right over the power breaker so we keep trying to save that as well. The parking lot is up to my waist so I'm still not sure how customers are getting in......The employees have been parking at the top of the hill and wading through.....

Just to update you guys on hell. My boss did buy a pump for the store with authorization from corporate. So we hope that will help the water levels in the back room.

No problem Cora! I hope everything works out at work! I can't say I've ever had anything remotely similar happen to me living in the desert, but that's terrible! Hang in there <3

That sounds absolutely terrible! Is your store waist high in water too? I know you said the back room was, but is the rest of it? It sounds like its really stressful

We had managed to barricade off the main store from the backroom thankfully....so only the backroom was affected. At this point we've saved as much as we could. Water levels have gone down.....and we'll get back to work soon....

Although customers keep screaming at me that we are out of this or that. I wanted to tell the one woman to go home and take a chill pill.....or I really should have just sent her into the back room.

That's happened to me - when I worked at Taco Bell and there would be some kind of e-coli scare so we had to pull tomatoes or jalapenos off the menu for a week or two - people would FREAK out at us...and I just wanted to say, "Do you WANT to get sick? Because that's what is going to happen if we let you eat that!!" XDDD

Some people are just truly stupid though, and they're usually completely unwilling to listen.

Really!? I mean it's not your fault the store was out of the product!

People are stupid plain and simple.

One woman waded through the water to come in to get 25 cents on a cupon a cashier never rang up. She didn't bring the product back so we couldn't do anything about that. She also wanted a thing of cookies....but she wanted to pay with her foodstamps card and our system was down. She screamed at me for an hour about how we where worthless beings who forced her to risk her life for no damn reason.

I sooooo wanted to say "Ma'am, you where risking your life for no reason anyways"

Wooooow! I mean, did she really think you'd have much, if any electricity considering how high the water is?? And for cookies!?!? I'm sorry, but there is never a situation where you need cookies that bad.
