I get the celebrity author vibe for sure, especially the second image you listed, Chex. I'm not sure how to make her look more professor-y... maybe lose the curtains? I'm not used to seeing professors lecture from stages with curtains like those.

I'm waffling on having a background or not on this one... there isn't much in the way of fast food restaurant looking items (counters, ideally sized cheap tables/chairs) that show as much as the avatar as I feel I ought to so I'm pretty much stuck with something similar to what I have currently or no background at all. Is it too bare? What are your thoughts? Suggestions? : \

I think it's actually looking really go so far, Mythos. I can totally feel the theme just from looking at it.
I can scan through items real quick, though, and see if I am able to suggest anything.

I was going to suggest maybe a table. But it looks like you're fiddling with some ideas for that right now. However, I do think the blue background was better.

Oh, I know! Maybe some of the mess from the YOLO ei item! It has trash stuff, which can happen at fast food places. Like the spilt soda.

Hmm... I went with the purple to keep the water from 'washing out' but I'll give it another go.
The chair/table which I could find in the right style was too small and looked really strange next to the avatar figure. More things to try xD

I'm glad I've got 'til Friday. x.x Maybe I can come up with something better than what I'm fighting with right now...

Also, the chicken doesn't quite suit the theme. I don't think there would be a live chicken in a restaurant. But maybe you could use the little crown hat symbol from the Mario (marvelous mustache bros) CI to put a logo on the hat?

I always figured the chicken wasn't a real one, but was some stupid mascot on the hat.

I was more looking at the chicken like it was some felt decoration on the hat-- something gimmicky like one of the greasier type fast food joints might make people wear.

I tried the cafe chairs with the table and they're about the same height but don't match the squared off style the table has (and it lines up a bit oddly) so I'm stuck with the cessy's tea party chairs for this type table. I'm hesitant to use the patio style tables from the winter EI because of the style issue as well. : \

I like the chicken as part of the hat. It's cute. X3 I really think your avi would look perfectly fine without a background.

Could I have some opinions on my avi? I was inspired to create a bard, since they're good with words and fairly poetic, I believe. And they sing romantic songs as well.

He's adorable, Kent! And clever-- I never would have thought of a bard... maybe you could do something with Keytar Madness for the musical notes?

And if not the musical notes, there is a speech bubble with a music note. It's adorable, though, Kent!

Perhaps a colorful table or chair? I know a lot of places have one or the other colored. Like red benches or chairs at the tables.

I think I might just go without the table/chairs because of the weird size problems (yeah... the table cloths wouldn't fit with the fast food theme) but I did like the trash idea you had. It'll also add a bit more red to play with... what a miserable looking avatar xD

Do the umbrella's from the "Life's a Beach" CI possibly layer well with a table? A lot of places have outside tables for eating with those crummy big umbrellas covering them. Could make it an outside theme

But s/he looks like one of those drive-thru workers. I don't understand why s/he'd be next to a table or outside.

Okay, so my current avatar is what I'm looking at right now for this... I would greatly appreciate opinions, first impressions, etc. I'd really like first impressions, because I want to see if people see the same thing I do in the avatar.

I definitely get the sense that your avi is having a bad day and trying really hard to keep a smile on her face. The big grin and eyebrow combo make it. I like the changes you made to the scenery and clothes, the colors flow much better now. I have mixed feelings about the sweatdrop and the cloud—I get why they are there, but they crowd each other a little? I dunno.

Since it looks like that water spirit splashed your avi, and you have the rain cloud, maybe you could add those water drops that go on the body? Maybe that would bee too much water though, I can't tell.
