I like streamlined avatars, myself. If an item doesn't have a reason for being on the avatar, then why is it there? Color? There are other ways to get color than slapping an item on that has no other purpose. It may require more thinking or a rearrangement to get a nice color balance, but theme > color balance to me.

Yeah - when I'm making an avatar (this went particularly for when I was a contestant for Project Mene), I'd end up buying several items for just about every round and maybe using one of them. xD Though you might go, "Oh, nertz... I didn't need that for this round. D<" you never know if you'll need it the next round after. Heck. There have been times I've purchased an item for a cosplay/avatar contest thinking, "Well, I'll never use this again..." and end up using it where it was "the" finishing touch to an avatar. xD

So, I guess what I'm rambling is, "Don't feel like you're wasting your gold on items you wouldn't normally use. You'd be surprised."

@CK- you where actually one of the contestants I was thinking of in my last statement on avatars.

I've been leaning closer to theme avatars lately myself.

I love to try to color scheme and theme in my avatars. I try to use items that are in theme and add a balance of color. :)

This! Please don't add silly items just to get the color right. I'd rather that one has no blue by their feet than have a really silly blue item there just to match.

Take for example my avatar. The gradient works well for a "sunset" themed avatar, but the items that were chosen and the way they were used aren't cohesive and so it looks messy.

The items have a nice gradient...but they don't flow together. I like item flow. :3

wel as it turns out i would have had time to work out a entry later. my nonno past yesterday with his family surrounding him as he wished. the funeral is monday and then its all done. so i would have had time.... but im really happy with my entry.

if i can figure out one for dutch films as opposed to my standing entry i will re- enter.

edit: so i tried to look up dutch actresses, saw a name i thought i recognized and it turns out she is the female lead for the movie Emmanuelle... which is soft porn. all i can come up with is porn! honestly, im tring and just coming up with porn at every turn. i sware my entry for this if done dutch would just be a naked avatar. 20% of the famous people in film from wikipedia on dutch film are porn actresses. im not making this stuff up.

I was looking for one that wasn't being done already lols. I may attempt Japanese instead. Although the costuming in this movie would be simple enough.....but the movie is really weird.

i know right! or they are just really good at making pron that everyone likes to watch. although Emmanuelle is a pretty famous soft porn movie that spawned sequels and a tv show and stuff.... but its still porn. this is why i asked to do swedish films. at least they are not porn. and i have seen them.

for mexico what about Zoro? would that not count? i would count Zoro. he is pretty awesome. and is a mexican hero.
