Okay - since this challenge is totally out of my element - I'm going to try to get as much help as I can get which now includes all of you :P

What do you guys think? what to add, get rid of? Does it look parody-ish or more cosplay-ish?

I haven't heard of Hugo or have seen the trailer or such. But it seems more of a cosplay (though a beautiful avatar). Parodies are more like "Harry Porker and the Last Cob of Corn" or something like that. :3 It makes fun of the movie.

gah - this is so hard - i thought having the gansta clock necklace looking thing would work and make it a parody - how do I parody this D: XDDD *will keep working*

parady's are usually humorous.

yeah i can see hugo being a hard one to parody. i think mine might be the easiest to parody. i already have a really funny idea... im just not sure its appropriate.... lol

@Neller - I've never seen it but I was reading up on it - it's about a boy from Paris in 1931 who lives with his clockmaker father. They love to go to the theatre and his favorite film is Voyage to the Moon. Hugo's father dies and so he goes to live with his alcoholic uncle who is a watchermaker. His uncle dies too. So he lives in the walls of a trainstation and maintains their clocks while avoiding the inspector who could kick him out. His father left a project behind - fixing a broken automaton that is supposed to write when it works. And hugo is determined to fix it because he thinks the automaton has a message from his dad. He is looking for a final piece, a heart shaped key. He meets a girl named Isabelle and they become friends. She turns out to have the key. and then a whole bunch of stuff happens and he falls into the care of the guy who created his favorite film. And that's the movie. XD

Wow...Lol.
That sounds really hard to parody...but the cool thing about that is it could lead to something completely unexpected.

What if it was Hugo the Zombie? I could make him a zombie? and he ate his dad, uncle, etc? XDD

Although - Harry Potter should be the easiest ~ It's hard! People have expectations! Although I did meet Tom Felton this weekend He was wayyyyy nicer than I thought he was going to be. And he was in two of the nominee movies. *hee hee hee* He signed my volunteer shirt. Okay - I have to think.

One thing with parodies...

One of the things they do is they take the most recognizable elements of a "thing" and push it to the absurd or point out how absurd they actually are.

Alternately, they take the story and they "refurbish" the context to be more real-world realistic. (For example: If the story to be parodied were Star Wars, aside from Space Balls {which is more of the first kind of parody}, one of the ways it can be parodied in this re-contextualizing way is to assume there is no "Force" and so they re-explain anything to do with the "Force" as being accomplished some other way, to the bemusement of the other characters.)

There are other ways you can parody something, but I'm hoping that will help spark something.

I'm really interested in seeing what people do with this.

I can't believe neller was eliminated. ; o; I thought I would be eliminated. XD Sometimes, I think the description for the challenges aren't that clear... Also, this challenge sounds hard. o xo I don't think I'd be any good at parodying anything. I think my sense of humor sucks, when I actually try to be funny.

Do you guys think the wording of the challenges is unclear? I always try to do a bit of background before introducing the challenge, which I can understand might throw some people off, but in general I always try to think about my wording carefully before presenting everyone with the challenge. If everyone is having difficulties with understanding the challenge descriptions, let me know so I can better prepare for future challenges by having someone else review the challenge descriptions beforehand.
