-belated- Speaking of chinese food, I need to dig up those recipes I've been saving. XD

I think I only took more than 15 credits once, and that was enough to stress me out. But I took care of all of my "gen" classes while I was in high school since I did "running start" which let me study at community college for free. So at my university I took nothing but classes for my major/minors. In order to fit everything in I had to take summer classes too, which is probably why I felt so burnt out by the end.

I mostly crammed since I can't remember names or dates for crap. XD I've never, ever been able to. As much as I like history, it is not the subject for me.

I have yet to end up in college/uni. Hoping to get into vet tech stuff at some point. :)

I took a lot of AP classes in highschool and knocked a fair amount of my gen eds out of the way before I started college. But I'm like you - I had so many classes I had to take - in order to graduate in four years I had to take summer classes as well.

I got sick like once or twice a semester in college...probably from the stress - and now that I haven't been in school for a year - I haven't been sick once!

Yay - I'm so excited for the return of Project Mene!

I'll most likely be applying as judge again, possibly with the nod to Seiki that if he needs me more as a contestant he could switch me over. :B Both ways are a lot of fun.

OoO - that sounds so yummy! My mom makes homemade beef and brocolli and stir fry recipes sometimes - so good!

Had I not gotten into the early college program, I probably would have taken AP courses instead. I enjoyed hanging out with my friends, but that was really the only thing I liked about high school. Classes were boring and filled with nothing but pointless busy-work. :(

I do think I missed out on some important social stuff (most notably prom), but I don't regret leaving early.

See for me, I wanted to stay in highschool for one thing: chorus. If I hadn't been so into it I probably would have done duel enrollment (what it's called here). But the choruses I was in (show choir and stuff) were at the same time as the duel enrollment classes so I said, "HELL NO! I want to SING" XD

I'm totally serious - music is my life - I went to college for music ed :D XD

I did dual enrollment. I got admissions requirements waived (namely, needing a HS diploma or GED) through the gifted program. It was not free though, I had to pay the same tuition as everyone else :C

I figure doing it homemade is MUCH cheaper, and I can cut out a lot of the salt that way too. :)

@Keyori? Seriously? It was free where I lived...but it might have been the program set up between my county's public school system and the community college.

@Maria: That's cool! I wasn't passionate about anything at HS, so I didn't feel encouraged to stay. Actually, that's probably why I was so enthusiastic to leave since my college offered Japanese courses while my HS didn't. :lol: I must admit, I was a big anime nerd back then, but I grew out of it. Glad that I'm still passionate about Japanese though since I live in Japan now.

My program was dual-enrollment in the sense that I was technically still enrolled in HS, but I was never required to set foot on campus except to have a counselor sign a form once each quarter approving the classes I planned to register for. You were allowed to attend college courses part-time, but since my college and HS were on completely different annual schedules, it was less of a hassle to go full-time.

Yup. There were ways to go for free *after* finishing high school (namely a community service/mentoring program that paid for tuition for 2 years), but not before I graduated.

I mostly did night classes, and in the summers I'd take two instead of just one per semester. 30 credits by the time I graduated high school.

haha I was in Japanese Club in Highschool - kind of an anime nerd club or so a lot of people thought - but most of us were more interested in japanese culture and history. They have a beautiful japanese garden and museum near where I live (3 hour drive I think) and we used to make that our annual field trip - it was so BEAUTIFUL!

I used to be into anime - but I dunno - I finished watching the shows I loved (Yu Yu Hakusho, Gundam Seed, Rurouni Kenshin) and then I was just over it- couldn't find any other anime to get into after that! I guess my love of it just died over the years but I still very much love the style of art and draw in it myself XD

I'm not positive how ours worked but we had kids who took full time duel enrollment and never came to the HS campus...and we had some who were only part time - so we'd see them in the morning but not in the afternoon and vice versa.

Well sortof. My advisor wasn't really useful so I took a bunch of random classes. Only about half of them wound up going toward my degree in the end. The rest were just "gen ed" when the transferred, and went towards my overall credit requirement (which I didn't need help with anyway) instead of specific classes.

I loved when CK was a contestant. Her outfits where so original and different o.0

My advisor in college was terrible...UGH. I would go to him every semester and I would be like "I'm taking these classes because my catalog says to do so during this semester...do you think that's good?" and he'd be like "Yep looks good! bye"

So...there ended up being a mistake - the catalog said to take a class in the fall of my third year and turns out it's only offered every other SPRING semester - never in fall. But about 7 other people were in the same predicament I was in and I kept emailing them going, "I'm not graduating late for ONE CLASS" and they were like, "Well I guess it IS our fault..." so they ended up making a special class of it just for us.

then 2 months before i was supposed to graduate I get an email saying I didn't fulfill this stupid word writing requirement. We're supposed to take 4 classes that qualify for some rule that we have to write a certain amount of wordsi n college...

anyway - my advisor TOLD me a class would count for it...then tells me TWO MONTHs before I'm supposed to graduate that, "oops - nope..it doesn't!"

So by then it was too late - I "walked" during graduation in May...then had to take a 6 week class after that during the summer to fulfil that requirement and then got my degree in August. I was so mad - worked SO hard to do it in four years!

My college advising office was terrible. I started going when I was 14, but at 16 there's a different requirement about advising (about whether or not you have to meet with an advisor). And the registrar INSISTED that even though I was 16, I still HAD to go to advising because I was in high school. And then I was like "uh, no, I don't, call the advising office!" And they're like "well YOU go talk to advising, you're the one who is supposed to be there!"

So I went to advising to get someone to call the registrar and by the time I got there they were like "we already cleared it up with them" and then I walked all the way back to the registrar and the lady gave me such dirty looks. Like, UGH, I am a teenager and I know more about this process than you who WORKS in that office? COME ON.

The advisor wasn't particularly helpful either. All she ever did was talk me out of taking a world religions class that I really wanted to go to. As far as getting stuff that could actually count towards a future degree, she was of zero help.

I can't deny my extreme nerdiness at the time. :lol: But I'm glad I grew out if it. Like you, I've not really found any shows that capture my interest like the "classics" and I find other aspects of Japanese culture way more interesting. Still, I should try to get into manga again just so I can practice my reading.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the part-timers did. I liked being left to my own devices.

I feel like college advisors are just terrible in general. I don't think it's so much their fault - they have to be able to help a billion people with different majors so maybe they just don't know (although my music education advisor should have know about music education classes!!)

But I've had nothing but bad experiences with any college advisors D:

I wish I could get back into it - but I just don't XD I used to listen to pretty much nothing by japanese music (and billy jole) because he was and is my hero. But i grew out of that too - I'll listen to japanese music occasionally but I listen to a bunch of different kinds of music now...not just that!

My advisor after I changed degrees was much better. She helped me out with quite a bit, like which exam I was supposed to take for graduation requirements (a third-party industry exam), how to get certain classes waived, and how to get my transferred credits re-evaluated.

The registrar at my alma mater said that I couldn't have my transferred credits re-evaluated at ALL, until I talked to one of the supervisors there. Basically, I took a class at the community college that didn't yet exist at my university. Then when the university offered it, I just asked that it be changed from the gen ed to the new class, since they finally had a code for it. The class title was even EXACTLY THE SAME. Computer Ethics.

My advisor helped get me into a meeting with one of the registrar supervisors and get the class "re-transferred" properly, so that it would actually fulfill one of my degree requirements (to take an "ethics" class; as long as it had ethics in the title it counted, even though for my major most people took business ethics).

xD Either is fun. They get me to look at the avatar in different ways when I judge versus participate as a contestant (well, I only did that once, but you know what I mean).

When I participate as a contestant, I think of what it is I want to be able to do and what keeps me from being able to accomplish that.

When I participate as a judge, I get to look at what the contestants did as a whole and figure out what they might have been able to do with different items.

With my position as AA, I'd be mildly concerned that I'd be tempted to cheat to recolor an item I needed. >_>; I would make myself not do it, though, since it would be entirely unfair, even if I mentioned, "Hey you guys - I recolored the pants from the (X) shop for my avatar, in case you guys needed them for yours too." I didn't do that the last time I played with Project Mene, but I did semi-sort-of do it for an avatar contest during an event. I wanted to cosplay Batgirl, and since there was already a yellow mask for the Plague Doctor set, I recolored everything yellow so I could have the belt and boots in yellow for my cosplay. >_>;
