Okay, I have the basic avatar, like the colours and a few accessories I got down; but when I look at people's like Burnt Biscut's and Suona's avis, it seems like I need A LOT more work...

HI jade! It takes a lot of layering to look like them but I think it looks really good.

Layers are delicious! Right now you look a bit cluttered, despite the number of items. I think its' because you've got a whole bunch of medium/big items layering on top of each-other. Choose your favorites and remove the others, because clutter can be bad if it's not used correctly. You need more gold than just the halo, so find some nice accessories to match it. Not sure I like the scarf with those legwarmers, either. And then there's the pillow, which makes the leg-warmers appear lighter and more faded. I'd say get rid of the pillow. At times, parts of your avi blend in with eachother, and it looks strange. If you have light blue on light blue it looks funny, so play with contrast more.
