Oh so cool! Is Ottawa bigger than Chicago? And I'm so jelly! I won't be able to move in with my bf for a few years because of my work schedule vs the normal school schedule and both of our living situations, augh!

Ouuu very nice!! How are you liking it?
I've never actually used a rice cooker...I always just cook my rice in a pot. What are the advantages? D: I'm have recently decided not to eat meat (though I do eat fish/seafood) so I'm having fun learning new recipes. Do you have a crock pot? It's a good way to make a lot of food at once with little effort xP
Nope, Chicago beats out Ottawa by 2 million people easily :P! BUT, I used to live in a town named Sudbury which was like 700k less people...so this is the big city life for me!
You can't live together because of your schedules? @_@! I don't understand? My boyfriend went back to College last year, so he's in school and working at night/weekends. I work Mon-Fri 10am - 6pm so we're on completely different schedules, but it works! :D

It's pretty tough since I'm a co-op (I go to school for one semester, then work one semester, then school again, until I work for 5 semesters). Right now it's my first session so I'm pretty useless since I don't know much about civil stuff like supports and road design and such, but I still help around. It's pretty cool and I get paid decently for what I do. xD
I might just start learning how to cook rice in a pot. I like ricecookers because I can just pour in rice and water and leave it alone and come back and there is fully cooked, warm rice! Crock pot? Nope. I've pretty much given up on cooking meat, because I'm scared of under cooking it and getting sick. xD So I only eat meat when I eat out.
Haha, Chicago is HUGE! I come from the suburbs of Pennsylvania and this is my FIRST time being in a large city for more than a week! It's craaazy!
Haha, I work in Chicago every other semester, but we both go to the same college in Indiana. And he can't drive and his home is in Hong Kong. Plus, I won't see him for a year in a year or two since I'll be in Chicago when he's in college and gaaaah. Just very difficult situation to juggle. xD

Co-ops are confusing, but so worth it...if you do really well would they keep taking you back year after year until you've done it 5 times and then keep you full time? Or do you have to do it somewhere different every time?
That's pretty much what I do with rice...throw in the water, throw in the rice, let it boil, turn the stove off and put the lid on and done! Crock pots are amazing! I actually just made chili last night with my bf. We cut everything up, put it in the crock pot and it was ready when we woke up today :)! Crock pots take FOREVER to cook shit, but it's worth it because you cook a large amount of something with little effort.
MY GOSH! You're all over the place. You come from Pennsylvania, you go to school in Indiana and you work in Illinois?! That's insane! I live in Canada and work in Ottawa and come from Sudbury, that's all the same place :P! Though I get to travel to the states all the time which is fun. I was in Orlando two weeks ago for a week...the people there are so incredibly nice!
Hong Kong! That is awesome! Does he ever go home? That's a long time away from each other @___@!

Unless I FAAAIL and screw up really badly, I'll work in the same company in Chicago for the next 5 sessions, and (ofcourse) they have the option to hire me when I graduate.
/ will thoroughly research this pot cooking technique /
Auuugh, I'm impatientttt (but chili does sound good). Aaaaaugh. /misses college dining courts/
I suuuuck at cooking. xD
Haha, and my parents recently moved to New Jersey, so I spend most of my time in Chicago and Indiana, and some vacations in New Jersey. It's pretty tough, but meh, what you do for a living. And I want to visit Canada! I almost applied to McGill university. xD
Yeah, he goes back for summer and winter vacations, so we usually don't see each other for ~ 4 months a year on a good year. I can visit once in like a month or two thanks to Amtrak, but it's a bit expensive and I end up having to bum on somebody's futon for the like 2 nights I'm there. Augh, if only he had an apartmeeeent. I hope to visit and eventually get a job in Hong Kong though.

And that's why co-ops are awesome! :D!
Haha it's really easy. Buy a bag of rice...or box, I buy the giant bag because I love rice so much XD. On the back it will tell you the water and rice ratio. For the "minute rice" it's 1 cup water and 1 cup rice. For the regular stuff it's 2 cups water, 1 cup rice! It will tell you :) You put the rice in the pot with the water, throw in butter if you want it (it's optional) put on stove until boiling and once it is, put the top on. If you have a coil stove you can just turn the stove off, if you have a fire stove then turn it down to the absolute lowest. :) Then eat when it's fluffy! I'm currently trying to learn how to properly make sushi rice...so tough x___x;;
Haha if you're impatient, crock pots, surprisingly are the best option. It takes a while to cook yes, but then you have dinner for the whole week!
That is so much traveling! But it sounds like fun :D! McGill is gorgeous!!
Well that is one difficult relationship! But it will work out in the end :) Working in Hong Kong would be SUPER rad!

My rice is all chinese rice my dad packed in smaller plastic bags, but the two water to one rice sounds about right, though I'll probably add too much water since I only need small portions! Everybody has trouble with sushi rice, don't worry. xD
and my fridge is mini! Can't hold that much food! Though you should send me some recipes. ;D

Ah... Hatake you should look into Lactose free milk. It's really good... probably live off of it once I get a place of my own because the milk has the lactose already broken down (so it's really sweet)
Gonna go peek at the front page... haven't seen the competition yet...
