I had my first cross country practice yesterday. I didn't do it in middle school, so this year (my freshman year) is the first time I'm doing a sport. It was pretty easy, some drills (that weren't intense, but I feel them today), stretches, and a 20 minute jog on the trails (and a lot of watching/being watched by the shirtless football players and boys cross country team).

I was talking to my friend about how much fun I had (she asked). Then she decided it was an appropriate time to tell me that I was absolutely insane and that it's not normal to enjoy running, as well as lecture me that cross country was going to be intense and I should skip it sometimes and running six days a week is not healthy and blah blah blah...I think she's just angry because I used to be completely nonathletic like her and I worked on it until I became a decent runner where as she sat around and just got...less athletic?

Sporks!

Cross country isn't insane. D:

Then again, I also have been known to fence 6 times a week and be at the club for basically a full work day and then some. xD
Yeah, i've had some people look at me and ask me if I was insane for staying at the club for 33 hours over 3 days. I answered yes.

Yuck, I hate running. But then again, my friends find it crazy that I enjoy swimming laps, so I guess it all evens out, lol.

Aww, I was in cross country. I sort of want to be in it this year....but I missed our summer practice. Also my coach said that she only wants Seniors whose hearts are into it.......hmmm yeah, no.
I love the meets and getting to travel and the feeling after I run, but I'm not a hard-core runner. Also she made a new rule that you have to be in the class period to be on the team 0 ~0 I barely have room for soccer (sport made of awesome). Yeah, half of my friends though I was crazy and the other half were in cross-country with me:insane:

They also say I'm crazy for taking Calculus next year....and I completely agree:o

Heck yes. XD

Last year, we were at a park that had these big plastic/rubber spheres that you could get in and run inside to make move to get to a certain point then back. 8D So I was taking my turn, and was about half way back when I managed to run UP the wall of the sphere, then fall to the ground. I wasn't hurt in the least and thought it had been a blast. My family thought I was absolutely bat shit crazy.

I row, and recently my friend told me I was a wimp for doing it. Wow. Don't even go there. Not exactly a wimpy sport.

I do think that you're insane for liking running, but on the other hand its great that you do like running. Liking running always makes it easier. I'm jealous, T_T I hate running.

Running is hard, but it feels really good when you get a rhythm going.
I think being praised for your ability to run would also make it more enjoyable.

D: I'd love to be on a running or swim team, but I still need to get in shape.
Running IS good for you, and exercise gives you endorphins, so maybe THAT'S why your friend is so moody? XD She's DEFINETLY jealous.

Sporks! - I never use sporks. Either fork or spoon please!

Ever enjoy anything your friends find insane? - I enjoy eating certain foods my own family thinks is insane. I enjoy eating things like Peanut Butter/ Pickled 'Burnt Toast' sandwich. And boiled eggs with mustard and rice in them. They also think a lot of stuff I do is insane.

Do you like running? - I wish. I'm very non athletic, although I wish I wasn't. I run out of breath and get really sore. I can't go outside because I burn easily, so I feel sad when I see a bunch of kids outside playing. I also just can't stand it. The only time I will go outside when it's not sunny at all outside. Like, if it's about to rain, I'll go outside. I tried to run for forty minutes on a tread mill though... my head felt terrible after that. BUT I'm going to try my best to start exercising and all that. I want to be much more healthier.

Grapes. - I haven't ate any in so long. They just don't taste good anymore.

Anything else related. - The fact your friend thought it's not healthy to run six days a week is ridiculous. I wish I was able to stand that stuff! I heard once some guy lifted weights because he enjoyed it, making it easier for him (or her) to carry around a heavy prop when he/she went cosplaying. I think your friend is just lazy. I don't want to sound like I'm bashing her, but the only people I ever knew who didn't like running, or doing anything that involved physical activity, were just lazy.

Mentioning of running, I have to start up running again. I haven't done so for over a month because I had summer school. (Which I literally failed). It's not fun in my opinion but I force myself to do it to be healthy. I usually have my Ipod that is the only reason to motivate me to even continue running. xD

Meh, it's not that insane. She's probably just jealous that you're good at it. Not may people enjoy running long distances or sprinting because they are out of shape or just can't do it.

Good luck on your cross country stuff!

Your friend sounds jealous. Or she just hates running so much that she can't see how someone could enjoy it. I like a lot of things that other people hate, like spiders and maths, so I often get called crazy by my friends. But at least they're not lecturing me. I'd be so annoyed. x-x
Running is great, it's pretty much the only kind of sports that I'm willing to do. I love the feeling afterwards. endorphines!

have fun with your cross country! :3

My opinion is "different strokes for different folks". I'm not a great runner but if you enjoy running then I have nothing against you doing it. I enjoy the classes that I do and some people must think that I'm crazy but that's their opinion.

I think exactly what all the others peoples said, she might be just jealous that you could progress so much, just ignore that little thing...
Me? Insane? Yup...Yes,insane because of the piercing I have, the clothes I wear, the music I listen to (there is a lot of things I didn't wrote on my presentation),the way I think, the way I totaly don't care about my body...Or the crazy things I can do for my friends.

Yeah...if you were sky diving or hang gliding then maybe someone can call you insane for finding it fun *I'd definitely do sky diving. XD* but cross country = crazy? Nope, not gonna cut it in my book, you need to poke a badger with a spoon to make the crazy list. XD
The only way running six days a week would be unhealthy is if you didn't eat and sleep right, otherwise quite the opposite. O.o As for my favorite althetic sport that'd be softball and I found a lot of joy in that though no one ever called me insane for lovin it. *scratches me head*
I'm thinking the theory on your friend may have some truth to it. ><;

My friends always think I'm insane. Actually they think I'm really crazy when I'm going on about my Girl Guide stuff but they accept that it's part of who I am and respect me for it. Then they buy my cookies to support my Girl Guide habit.

When I was in Jr High I was on the track team (when they had one). I enjoy running but I'm more of a sprinter then a long distance runner. It looks fun, I just have problems with the pacing sometimes.

Anime I guess, but that's only some of my friends, most of my friends love it as much as me :D Potato chips and peanut butter was another one.
There are more, but I can't think of anything.

I'm not a good runner, but I do like it, even if I can only run a short distance...
