I met a new girl like last week. Just 1 week ago. I talked to her a lot and we enjoyed talking because meeting someone new is always exciting. Everything was going wonderful. One of her friends knew I was talking to her, and this girl was also my friend. She got jealous and started to tell her rumors about me, but denied them to me :( Now the girl I just met barely will talk to me because she believes these rumors are true. I thought I had made a great friend since we had a lot in common but in like a day our friendship was crushed :(

Has this happened to you, where you met a girl/boy that was cute and their friend got jealous and made you lose a friend?

It's happened to me before. It happens to the most of us in our lifetime anyways. just go to her and explain everything and then slowly earn her trust back. That's what I did and it worked like a charm.

That's mean... I'd try to prove that the rumours are not true. Maybe you could talk to the girl who spread those rumours and ask her why she's saying those things? Tell her you KNOW she spreads them.

I had something similar happen to me. Someone I thought to be a friend apparently told my best friend at the time I was gay. The worst thing was, she told my friend's parents too. All of a sudden I wasn't allowed to come swim in their pool during summer anymore, her mother would check on us when we were in her room playing on the computer, and eventually my friend herself backed off because she really did start believing that I secretly had a crush on her. >_<

This has happened to me before.. But I managed to unmask the "friend" spreading the rumors.

Then myself and the other friend become best friend and didn't let anyone come between us... for a few years anyway...

Heh, that's awful Volucria, and Snow, I've had to like 8 times. From all different people :( it sucks. Trueessence, you got it lucky. Often I get in fights with the other person cause they won't think about me being not what the rumors are until way later.

Aww, man that sucks, i don't know why people act like that for. Nothing like that has happened to me before, but i do find myself feeling wierd when i have new friends meeting old friends. It's like they sort of ignore each other and only talk to me...so if feels awkward.

It's nearly happened to me. When i started college, i made friends with a gay guy, who took a bit of a shine to me. His best friend was a girl, and i don't think she liked the way we had become so friendly with me, and while im pretty sure she never spread rumors, as i would have got to hear about them, she sometimes when out of her way to dislike me, and insult me in front of out classmates.

never had that type of thing happen before. and i'm sorry that you lost what was the beggining of a great friendship i'm sure. but regarding the friend who had a case of jealousy and thus ruined your getting to know the other person. get rid of them. they aren't a true friend if they are willing to do that to you.

Yeah, this has happened to me, when it did I thought long and hard about what my friend did to me, and kept working at the new friendship. The new friendship became my best friend and I never speak to the older friend. I mean she was nutty and that was the final straw.

I always hate when people would do that. I know my friends when I was younger would do that to me. Well ONE in particular it was always like she never wanted to see me happy or anything.

Wow, I've never had something like that happen to me before.
Then again, I'm really shy and hardly ever meet new people, and I grew up in a small town.

I wouldn't care for rumors. My real friends know me and they know the stuff i would never do. If they heard something and they/the person wasn't sure about if its true or not they would come up and ask me. and i'll give them an honest answer, but if the rumor is sooo out there then i'd say wtf?

Yes, actually my friend made a new friend at the beginning of highschool and like she started hanging out with my friend since we were pretty close and then I told her new friend that I hated her and then I barely talked to her last year, until she was in my french class, so I started talking to her cuz I had nobody that was in my class that I liked since they all got transferred out.

I never had anyone spread rumors about me, except for this girl who was trying to tell my one friend that I was a lesbian in hopes it would scare her off. I just agreed with it and my friend didn't really care anyway so it didn't matter.
