No matter how many times I try to be logical about it I don't think I could ever bring myself to buy them. I'm pretty shy about a lot of things there's no way I'd be different about this. xD

I think it's either one of two reasons: haven't done it before, or a personality thing, the sorta prickly person not used to private life being exposed. If I didn't know someone who was like this (got a friend who turns really red at the thought and he's already had two girlfriends), I'd laugh at it too.

In my case, most often I end up buying from female cashiers with knowing smiles :lol:. I just shrug. What can I say after all? "Nice weather eh?"

Whenever I'm buying my goodies I always say "Uhh yeah I broke up with my boyfriend." lol

I wonder how much of it is wishful thinking when buying instead of having an actual use?

a couple of years ago we went out and bought those... he wanted me to go with him of course. this made it easier since i'm not as shy as he is. but we both were nervous. we went up after choosing the condoms, at the cash register, the woman, made it easier since she stood there while she was taking care of our "purchase" she stood there and talked to us, and helped make us not as nervous and we joked about it (i don't remember exactly what was said since it was 2 years ago) she even gave us a blue bag to put the box in it since we bought a blue box and she figured it would make us feel not nervous. things got better.

at adult store: we have gotten better, since we're both going on 21 this october we go there a lot and just stand there looking at products that we want to get sometime when we have money. we've bought a few things that we liked. we're mostly at the store scouting out possible purchases. shyness isn't much of a problem now since we've had 2 years of this together. its good since we're both older and its good that we do this together. its also fun doing these things together, helps get rid of the shyness when you're with a loved one. :kiss: :hug:

I spos things like that are always a bit nerve racking at first, but I think eventually everyone just dusnt care. Its part of life, why be embarrassed? Be proud yeeah

haha i've never bought condoms but i have stolen them. a couple friends of mine and i went to our friends' houses and put them over the tail pipes of their cars lol and we put them on the door knobs of their houses! it was great fun :]

I've never bought condoms before since I'm not sexually active, but I don't see it as a big deal. Less awkward than buying tampons, I'm sure... male cashiers tend to avert their eyes and bag as quickly as possible as if my box of Tampax is going to shoot vagina shaped death rays if they look at it :|

I've never bought them for myself. I have bought them for others though. XD It doesn't bother me. Its about as normal as buying womans sanitary supplies. lol I got used to that a looong time ago.

I once dated a little virgin boy who was afraid that he'd be carded buying the condoms. I just buy them like I'd buy anything else, the clerks don't care about what you buy. Seriously the Walgreens near my boyfriend's place knew us by name. We bought condoms and Gatorade every Friday and would tease us about never breaking up the way things were going. Then I went on the pill. They asked why we weren't in and we all laughed. But, if you're embarresed just get in and get out. When I buy sex toys I talk about it normally cause that's what sex shops sell. They expect you to buy these things so it's alot easier than buying elsewhere.

That's silly for someone to be so shy about it in my opinion, but then again I've always been quite outspoken and "take me or leave me" about sex. I'm usually the one embarrassing everyone in my group of friends, lol.

Maybe the guy was a virgin or something? He may have felt insecure about buying them because it was his first time, or at least his first time picking them up... either that, or maybe he was a bit young and was freaked out he'd see someone he knew and they'd tell his parents, haha.

I recall someone at my college made a huge scene because I was LOOKING at condoms.
I'm an asexual so it was just annoying. And yes we asexuals can be curious about these things, even if we don't buy.

Um, well I have never bought them as I am a girl ... and um ... I don't plan on doing anything until I get married ... so .. um .. yea ...

But if I were to have to 'buy' them .. yes, I would be embarrassed, I have a shy personality so I know I would be shy.

I'm not sexually active so I've never bought anything like that, but I don't see how being too shy to buy condoms automatically equals too shy for sex. I'm terribly shy around people I don't know but fine with people I do know and, well, I like to think that I'd know the person I was having sex with. XD To be fair, I'm horrible about asking employees for anything though.
