Weird food combinations?

Just for fun, what are the weird food combinations you love that shock and horrify your family, friends, children or spouse?

Personally, my husband is horrified by my favorite sandwich, which consists of creamy peanut butter, sweet gherkins and Miracle Whip on bread. I grew up eating them, and my family are the only people I know that eat the things.

My mum loves those XD No one else in my family likes them though *shudders*

My weirdest food combination is cinnamon pretzels with cream cheese and spicy mustard mmmm!

I love to make sandwitches with bogona, cheese, ketchup, lemon pepper, lettuce, pepper, and sometimes salad dressing. ^^
Then I like to make wraps with bogona, melted cheese, lemon pepper, sometimes lettuce, ketchup, hot sauce, and pepper. =3

After my family has tacos for supper, we always have leftover tomato. So my mom puts it in tuperware, and i get the dish out, and a spoon. I put salt on it and eat it while they play cards (usually). They think it's weird but it's really good.

See, that seems pretty normal to me. While I don't care for tomatoes myself, most of the people in my family insist that the best way to eat a tomato is to pick it from the garden and sprinkle salt over it, then eat it like an apple. I grew up thinking that "raw with salt" was the correct and proper way to eat a tomato!

Cornflakes and Ketchup sandwiches = <3
Discovered when I had bread but no butter and cereal but no milk and was a poor student unable to afford anything else xD

Also what we're having for dinner tonight may be kind of weird to some. Chicken bangkok, which is rice, with crunchy peanut butter and spices mixed into it and of course chicken shredded into it. ....and ham, prawns, boiled egg, cashews, raisins and banana.
Some people seem to think peanut butter with rice is weird, but it's really really yummy. Just melt about half a big jar of crunchy peanut butter in a frying pan, and warm 'till melted, then mix it into plain white rice.

You know, given how many oriental dishes have peanuts or cashews in them, I could easily see peanut butter over a chicken and rice dish. In fact, the only thing in the above recipe that kind of loses me is the addition of banana - but then, I'm not the world's biggest banana fan. I'd attempt to make this for my husband, but I don't think Weight Watchers and a large quantity of PB go well together. ;-)

I love any kind of fish with ketchup.

So we could be at a fancy resturant.

'Uuuuhh.. can I have some ketchup for my poached salmon? <___<;'

Not too weird, but I get weird looks.

RICE AND KETCHUP! =DD <3333

Jaffa cakes with mustard - absolutely wondeful. I will forever be grateful to Dragon (a member of another 'site I frequent) for introducing me to the idea.

Pasta with veggie gravy - I don't understand how people can eat it with tomato, it tastes disgusting like that imo. I tend to eat it on it's own/with salt and pepper/in a bowl of gravy.

I don't think this is weird, but my mother says it is - I have a bowl filled with veggie gravy, two yorkshire puddings, two cheese-y pancakes and two veggie burgers, cut them all up in it and eat it with a spoon. Occasionally I have ketchup in with it, too.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

French fries dipped in chocolate and Oreos dipped in ketchup! YUMMEH!

IceKyrstal 08-16-2008 09:28 PM

Watermelon with soysauce and ketchup. *smiles proudly*

Bagels and cream cheese with salsa. Not very weird, I know. lol

Hahaha... I have some weird food habits I guess, but not as weird as some of these I've seen :P

My favorite is from waaaaay back in the day when I was in grade school... my mom would give me cheese sandwiches with mustard and some chips. So I eventually manipulated her into getting me those nacho cheesier doritos and put them on my sandwich. My favorite was muenster cheese with the doritos... I'd open my sandwich, lay the chips on liberally, and then flatten it which made a cool crunching noise :P I still love them to this day.

I also love dipping my french fries in chocolate ice cream... not spicy fries or anything, just plain ones. It's especially good at Wendy's because they have the frosties to dip them in :)

I'm sure there's something else, but i can't think of it, haha. Unless you think eating an entire jar of banana peppers like they're popcorn is weird :P

Sweet Lime 08-17-2008 12:22 AM

I don't have any weird food habits. :( Apart from pretty much having a hate for all major food groups. :P

Sforzando 08-17-2008 12:24 AM

when I was a little girl, i would eat nothing but a ketchup and mustard sandwich. just ketchup and mustard on bread.

I've dipped my hot dog in soda, it wasn't half bad actually. I often put barbecue sauce and cheese together on my hot dogs and burgers.

I'm not sure..hm..
my family can eat a few weird combinations.. Well actually, they're not that weird they are just traditional for our background but my friends might go, 'eww'.
Like..rice and soup or something like that. But that's no-where weird compared to you guys. :P
Me and my friend were so bad the other night though. -_- She slept over and we were having this massive junk food feast. D:
She had like, whipped cream on chips with chocolate sauce. XD
I never tasted it, though it looked nice.

Blahrrgh 08-17-2008 11:35 AM

^ Wargh. I haven't had that in years.. the whipped cream has to be just the right sort imo, but from what I can remember it's yummy.

- Oh, if you buy a pizza base, and spread golden syrup on it (fairly thinly, mind), and cook it in the over, it tastes absolutely lovely.
As do green olives dipped in golden syrup.

mahalogi 08-20-2008 11:46 AM

I'll eat vegemite with anything, well nearly anything : D
Vegemite is just the best! To me <3~

Oh and today I had a weird sammich consisting of; Pita bread, tzatziki, chicken breast ham stuff, cheese, bok choy, potato, egg, pickle and carrot.

It was rather nice o-o;

Chocolate Cosmos 08-20-2008 11:52 PM

This guy I remember from elementary used to eat corn and chocolate pudding. I thought that was really odd but he said it was really good. It doesn't sound that great to me...
Another person ate mayonnaise on her pizza, that's not so strange though, I've seen quite a few people eat that.

attackat 08-21-2008 12:06 AM

pepperonis and hoisin sauce!! (can you tell I need to go shopping soon?) But it was really good! and wanton wrappers with kalamata olives inside are good too!

RachaelPie 08-24-2008 10:27 PM

I don't think I like any WEIRD food combinations, but I do know of several people that enjoy french fries dipped in shakes. It probably has to do with the mix of sweet and salty.

GrimKusanagi 08-24-2008 10:43 PM

I love a peanutbutter and barbecue sauce sandwich.

d2hiriyuu 08-24-2008 10:43 PM

peanut butter and syrup
