Huh... I always thought Witch was a particular word for people that used their craft specifically to harm others. Thats a rather cruel thing to do so I would have to say yes to the evil part. But I always thought Wiccan's used their craft in ways that helped others. Maybe its a misconception on my part.

*shrugs* I do believe that humans have qualities that could be called "powers" but its more like a special gift they can use to help others, but also there is a lot to learn about the human body still. People may very well be able to draw from certain energies to do amazing things. I myself been healed in such a way. I had a migraine once that I couldn't get rid of and I has in a lot of pain crying. But my friends father gave me a blessing and it went away not to much longer. My dad and grandpa have given me blessings many times when I was sick and I always pulled though very quickly.

Even Christians should believe in this sort of power. If they have any faith in the power of prayers then they are literally believing that they will have good things happen and can preform great works by using the power of god. I mean thats exactly what those blessings were. It was a prayer asking for god's help and aid for a specific issue or problem. I think people have different beliefs as to where this power is coming from.

I don't find it the least bit evil.
The only way I believe it could
be evil is if someone would use
it in that way. If more people
practiced it accuratly I'm sure
they could help and not be
laughed at or tormented.
I think it would be cool to be
able to do that. I've been recently
trying to interperet my own dreams
and read other peoples reactions
so I know what they are thinking.

DiscoCarrot 08-26-2008 12:38 AM

Only the person using it can determine if it is evil or not.
It's not all evil though.
People like to judge and criticize about this and other things.
I;m not Christian, so this doesn't really bother me, but I know a lot of Christian who...
are against it as well as support it.
Theirs nothing wrong with trying to find out your dreams, or practicing witch craft and spells and such.
I don't know a lot about it, excuse me if I'm wrong.

I do not know much about Wiccans, despite one of my best friends being Wiccan.

Anyway, I am not sure what to believe. I'm fine with interpreting dreams and all that, I don't really agree with the whole calling on the spirits, doing magic, thing. While my friend assures me that there are like, Wiccans that do good magic and Wiccans that do bad magic, I do not approve of trying to call magic upon yourself. But whatever, we're all taught that we have our free agency, and well, thats there choice not mine. Just because they choose to fool with magic doesn't mean theyre bad people. And I'd rather have someone like my friend, who is good, and knowledgable in the whole using magic thing being the one using the magic rather than someone like myself who doesnt know the "rules."

I myself am only into divination. Mostly just dream interpretation and numerology. I've not told my family and only tell strangers on the internet (they're more accepting) and close friends.

I've heard people say it's all evil. I've heard others say it's only as evil as the person using it (kinda like guns not shooting people, people shoot people with guns). I agree with the latter.

Spoons~
Do you think divination, the occult, and/or witch craft is evil?
Do you practice any of it?
Has anyone ever called you a witch and tried to burn you?
Have you ever received hate for any of your practices?

Divination depends on how it's done. 'Talking with the spirits', you have no real control over who you're talking to. It could be something totally benevolent, it could be something totally malevolent. There is no control there. Kinda neutral.

The occult, in my opinion, is just another form of science. The only problem is that it dives into pieces of reality that we, again, cannot truly see nor control due to our physical limitations. Again, this one is neutral.

Witchcraft? Stop RIGHT there. There is a huge difference between witchcraft and magic. Witchcraft has been defined several times over between dealing with Satan (the Christian definition) and just another word for magic (I think that's the Pagan definition? Correct me if I'm wrong). I think we should all be going by the same definition, but for now, I'm going by the Christian one. Witchcraft is evil, magic is not. Magic, to me, is just another form of science that deals directly between the body and the surrounding world.

Do I practice any of it? Actually, yes. I practice something I call auramancy - the viewing and manipulation of different types of auras. Auras can be seen to show areas of emotional manipulation, physical health, and even things such as electrical currents. Light itself is an aura everyone who isn't blind can see. And everyone emits different types of radiation from their bodies, whether it be bio energy or alpha radiation from thoughts. I can see those types of radiation in the forms of auras, including my own. I've been training to control my own aura with my body and force it to interact with the auras of other people in ways that can calm them down, reinforce their health or even read surface thoughts (I still suck at that one though). I intend to train to get my aura to interact with the physical world around me, AKA telekinesis. I still don't know if it's completely possible, but I'll keep trying until I succeed.

I have, unfortunately, been called a 'witch' before because of my research into the science I call auramancy. Luckily, nobody has tried to burn me. People who do not understand it are often afraid of it, and think it to be witchcraft in my church. Thus, 2 years ago, I excommunicated myself to be sure I cause no trouble to my church. They would probably still welcome me back, and very few people know I can do it, but I do not want the church to misconceive my practices as witchcraft. If anything, I think of it as a gift from God himself.

Nobody really hates me because of my practices - and, because of my practices, if someone does they can't for long!

Has anyone ever had to tell their parents they are into something tarot or numerology or something like that? I'm afraid I might leave my cards and books out when they come over and they'll freak out.

Kah Hilzin-Ec 08-27-2008 06:58 AM

Actually, my mother told me to go one of these days to a coffee shop where a woman's suposed to read your hand, and the coffee o.o Lol? I think she said it for the coffee, and to see how intuitive the woman would be... but the shop's closed :/ Aww~
I have yet to see it work xD A gypsy woman long ago told my aunt she would have 4 husbands and a lot of children. She's 33 and she just got her first boyfriend. Again, lol? [Yeah, no children XD]

But I do believe there's some energy we can manipulate. Our brain sends electrical signals all the time after all. And thus, I think humans [using a lot of will and after long practice] could use these signals to affect our surroundings. From that point of view, reading thoughts, seeing auras, and even telekinesis would be logical, don't you think? ;)

I must be the most hated mix of stereotypes out there: Atheist, bisexual, pro-choice, dictator-like thinker, latina, AND believes in magic! People hasn't tried to burn me yet, but they have tried to convert me, to piss me, show indecent things to me, embarrass me publicly, embarrass my friends publicly, call me names, among other things.

PS: Has any of you used the ouija? o.ô I've only heard bad things about it, but that's probably because most of the people who write or talk about it are christians... [No offense to you hmmkay?]

Enzeru 08-28-2008 01:11 AM

@Kah I've tried it before but it just gave me a bunch of jumbled stuff. I think someone was moving it though. I haven't tried it since I started listening to my intuition because just being around one gives me bad vibes.

I know that it is not evil. I think that it has gotten such a bad reputation because of fear.

I have been a practicing Witch for most of my life. Witchcraft has made my life amazing. It has given me purpose, happiness, a personal connection with the Divine.

Yes actually. When I was much younger (13), I was siting with my friends in a park when a group of teens came at us. They started calling me a devil-worshiper and began throwing stones at us. When we tried to leave, they chased us into a drainage tunnel and blocked one of the ends. Moments later, they started throwing burning chunks of wood and newspapers at us. When we finally got out of the tunnel, they started hitting us with metal pipes. Luckily someone had seen what was going on and called the police.

All you have to do is read the answer above.

I looked into Wicca and etc when I was younger, I don't really remember any of it now.

I was brought up going to Catholic church every Sunday, but nowadays, I'm really a person of no religion, just believing to be a good person.
I've not found one that strikes me that I'd want to practice.
