I just came back from CNE or The Ex (same thing, people call it different) which is sort of like an exhibition sort of thing. You will know of it if you live in Ontario. It's like a flea market in buildings but with rides and parades. I go like every year but I never do anything.
Today I had an urge to get a caricature very, very bad. My mom gave me $40 and I went to get one that was full body with background and colour. It had a Japanese theme to it with me in a kimono. (I was sorta disappointed that there is not much effort on the clothes). It cost $25 along with a $3.50 tax which went up to $28.50. I like the picture, it's very cute but my mom was so pissed off at me because it was a waste of money and she said that it didn't look like me at all. (Which was true in a way but I did request that the artist make me pretty there)
Now, I am an online art collector. And I have received many beautiful and unique pieces of artwork of my own characters for free which should cost over $30 each if I was to pay. Since ink is pricey, I rarely print them out so I leave them on my photobucket with hope of one day I'll be rich and print them out. xD But here, I paid for something a bit much that was done less than ten minutes. I think it is worth it for it is memories and I will be able to frame it up. Except at the same time, I have this nagging feeling since money is not exactly what always come in hand for my parents considering that they work hard labour to earn money. So I'm like wondering if it is worth it...
So talk about any of the topics discussed. Caricatures, value of money, art collecting, etc etc.
