well back in the 8th grade i went to the 7-11 near my school and this guy asked me if he could borrow my AP Phyiscs Notes...
that was a bit strange

I've never been mistaken as older. I look relatively young for my age. What really confused me was when I was waiting to get my hair cut yesterday and (to pass the time) flipping through a teen magazine. I swear, some of the teen celebrities look SO much older than they are. I was looking at these girls who were supposedly 14 and they looked 17 or 18. It's crazy. When I'm older I might appreciate the fact that I look young. The same cannot be said for those other girls.

Enzeru 09-21-2008 01:56 AM

I'm 22 and people always think I'm 18 or 16. So no, never mistaken for being older.

Iltu 09-21-2008 03:35 AM

Wow, that's pretty crazy!

I've never been mistake for older, but for one time when we went to the aquarium, we being me, my brother, my dad, and my sister. This guy like, attacked us with a camera and made us get a picture taken from behind these shark teeth. When he was lining us up, he was like, "Okay, two kids in front, mom and dad in back..."

I was 13, I think. I remember being furious.

gin-gin 09-22-2008 04:55 AM

I was walking on my way to work (I work in the mall) and the guy goes "are you 25 years or older?" and I, mishearing him, repeated "something about orange soda?" and he then had to repeat his question and I'm like "ohhhh ... no I'm 19 ... " and walked on ... might as well be old with my hearing!

Weeshaaaa 09-22-2008 05:15 AM

Two guys thinking I was 18, one being 19 and the other 29. @[email protected] (this was the other day. Im 15 now)

Also, one time I went on a date with my ex boyfriend and took my little cousin along (it was to a carnival..) and one of the carnies thought he and I were married and she was our child. (similar to your story...)and I was 14.. he was 17 and she was 7.

htownwera13 09-22-2008 09:52 AM

Yup! I've had it hapen alot more than once. AND its so annoying.
LIke this one time this guy thought my little brother was my son. and I was 13.

[L]ove[H]ate 09-22-2008 09:59 AM

I'm going to be 17 in october and I've been mistaken for 17 and 18 before. Not too much older than I am now.

`Hikari-chan 09-22-2008 11:27 PM

I get mistaken for being 18-20 a lot.
I'm 16, so I guess that isn't such a bad guess, taking into account the fact that I'm 5' 10".
But when I was about 14 some people mistook me for being 21 or so.

I've always been mistake for my age. Mostly because I was always pretty all for my age group.
I remember being like 9, and some hanging out with some kids while I was on holidays, and at the end of the day we somehow got on to ages, and well...they'd all thought I was 16 :/

Plus, over the weekend I was at a local music festival-thing. I spent most of my time talking to other participants (artists/singers/choir members) annnnd well. 90% of the people I spoke to thought I was 26-ish. Which is nice (particularly the dude who was hitting on me), except for the fact that I'm 17 :gonk:

Alterdemon 09-23-2008 08:25 AM

I get mistaken for older a lot.
I had to be about 14 while vacationing in Florida, and some man making balloon animals thought that my younger sister, about 2, was my daughter.
My mom's friend's often think that I'm her roommate, and last year I got into a bar without even being carded. </naughty>

I'm 18 now.

Lathrine 09-23-2008 09:07 PM

I haven't been mistaken for being older, but I HAVE been told that I look a good one to two years older then I am. >>;

EDIT:
After reading someone else's comment, I might be mistaken for older then I am more then I think. That, or people just mistake my mom for a LOT younger. I had just remembered that when my mom and I went to Anime Boston, people frequently thought we were sisters. XD

(my height might help that, I'm not sure. I'm fourteen and am as tall as my mom is, and she's 30-somethin'. :D)

[EXtolo] 09-23-2008 09:40 PM

@steriorjunks: not by that much. People usually mistake me by like 5 years at most I also act overly mature. sometimes I think I'm dead inside. But I'm only that old when my defences are up.

Phas 09-26-2008 08:37 PM

I was actually working and this lady was buying beer and she said do I look older and I said no and I asked her how old I look and she said 30....I am only 20 and I really dont see myself looking 30. I kinda wanted to cry. LOL I think some people say it so they dont seem so old.

The Mad Hatter 09-26-2008 09:07 PM

No I never get mistaken as being older but alot of times people think I am younger than I am, so I get carded alot. Or when ever I apply some where for a job they always say well you know, you have to be 18 to work here so... And that's when I tell them I am 19. XD I have been told I look 15 or like a freshman. On adopt a freshman day at my school people tried adopting me but I told them I was a Junior I was 16 then they laughed and said it was okay because I looked like a freshman. I don't really mind that just means I'll look young when I am older. It runs in the family my mom is 43 but she looks like she is 32 go figure.

Fem_chan 09-26-2008 09:09 PM

When I was about 11-12 men would start 'noticing ' me. I hated it. Seems I looked 'at least 18' >___>
's one of the downsides of being tall I guess. People tend to over-estimate...lots of things about you then.

People tend to think I am younger now. Few days ago some guy thought I was his age and 't turned out I was actually 4 years older (I'm 24 now), we had a good laugh though XD

bluezjessi 09-26-2008 09:46 PM

I've had people mistake me for being older before. Once when I was riding with my dad in our car, someone asked him if he could come help them move something about 50 yards away. She turned to me and suggested that I drive the car over for him. I was a lot younger at the time and had no driving experience/permit/license... I was surprised at the suggestion lol.

We also used to be venders at "Bridal Show" events for his work; meaning we'd stand at a booth, hand out brochures... a lot of the time I'd enjoy taking breaks and walking around the other booths, but if we ever walked together, I've had people comment thinking I was his wife. D; It's my dad, no. D< D;

Other than that, I'm usually just told I'm mature for my age. But I don't think I look that much older than I am. :XD

KamenRiderNadeshiko 09-27-2008 06:11 PM

When I was about 8-9, people used to sometimes mistake me for 10,11, and even 12 years old. I got my grouth spurt before the other girls in my class, today some people think I'm about 16-17 when I'm really 15, but that is mostly because I am more mature then the other girls in my classes.

Incense and Mystery 09-27-2008 08:52 PM

Im always mistaken for a lot older... its frustrating lol

Linally 09-27-2008 09:35 PM

When I was a sophomore in high school, every one always thought I was a senior! And it's really funny because now I am a senior and they all think I'm a sophomore ;3;

bl4cksh4dow 09-27-2008 11:08 PM

Yes, I've been mistaken for being older several times.

One of my classmate asked me the other day, "How old I was?" and I replied "21" and he said that I look a lot older :stare: all I could do was reply "Oh really now?!" Sheesh... I shouldn't even had reply, since it was rude to ask for a woman's age :stare: plus with that reply he given to me... It was even ruder than asking a woman's age

But another time that I was mistaken to be older was back around elementary school, I think maybe 6th grade? or was it in middle school? I was with my brother who was four years younger than me in the supermarket and this elderly woman comes up to me and says something like "Oh my! Your son looks so handsome and adorable!"

I was like O_O.... *shocked* all I could just do is reply to the elderly lady "Ooooh thank you very much!" :sarcasm:

Gah~ I told my mom what had happened and she was laughing

And when I do appear older, people sometime mistakes me as being younger >.>

Kerrieberrie 09-27-2008 11:10 PM

I have the exact opposite problem - I just turned 21, but I'm pretty sure I'll be carded for the rest of my life.

Alpharlie 09-29-2008 09:53 AM

Yeah, that happens to me a fair bit. D:>

When i was 10, i was mistaken for a 15-yr old. I knew i looked/acted mature for my age, but i didn't think i'd be able to pass for any older than 13.

Willow_Moon 09-29-2008 10:19 AM

Sometimes. I think its due to the fact my Boyfriend has a son from a previous relationship, and with him being 8, people naturally assume he is mine! I am 21 so it isn't exactly a bad thing, yet I guess I hate the fact that when he kicks off, everyone looks at me! xD
