For cross country, we spend a decent amount of time on the track, for warm-ups and stretches and such, and then afterward, cool downs and more stretching. Normally, it's pretty nice. There's a few random people doing laps and the boys team (who doesn't really leave the track...), but all in all it's pretty quiet.
Color guard and marching band practice started today. The band was indoors, thank god, but the fucking metronome the color guard had was loud as fuck (they were 2 parking lots away), and completely messed my 400m's because I spaced out and ran to the metronome (I saw that happening with a lot of people, actually...and it wasn't slow enough that I could run double time, so every time it clicked my left foot hit the ground). More than that, it was just flat out annoying.
I mean, we have a HUGE campus. There is no practice near the middle school right now. They could practice there. Or in the huge as fuck 11/12 gym (trust me, there's room). They have practice 9-5, while we're there 8:30-11:30 (done by 11 though, and the boys are usually out by 10:30ish). Is it that hard to be QUIET for two hours? Seriously!
Granted, I have a hatred of color guard anyway. The only person who I talk to who does it is constantly spinning things and hitting me with them (the spinning is annoying, the hitting is enough to make me avoid her). She doesn't talk about ANYTHING but color guard (I'm not allowed to talk about cross country, though, or anything else for that matter), and she's convinced that color guard is more a sport that cross country, and is always trying to make it sound like we don't do anything and they have this intense grueling work. I'm sure it's not easy, but I'd like to see her survive a cross country practice when she can't even run the mile at school without walking.
Sorry, very rantish, but I'm a little irked, and Aunt Flow is visiting right now, so I'm crankier than normal.
Anyway, anyone else experience people like my friend, or irritating scheduling conflicts that?
