Everyone who has seen me type says I type fast. I don't have to look at the keyboard to type, no. I type accurately, too. No misspelling because I'm trying to type too fast. In middle school, we had a class where we learned how to type. They had black things over the keyboards, so you couldn't look down and "cheat". You had to memorize the keyboard. Sometimes when my sister and I are bored, we go to typingtest.com and compete to see who can get the highest score.

I've been known to type 140-150 words per minute at times, and never look at the keyboard.
Neither I nor anyone else understands why I can do this. |
I used to be a chicken pecker too! My mom laughed at me. :gonk: But ever since I started using AIM and MSN and whatnot, my typing has gotten a lot faster, plus I don't stare at my keyboard as much. All you need to do is practice a lot, and even if it doesn't help a whole lot, at least no one can say you can't type at all! :) |

My typing isn't too bad. I've had to take classes starting from 3rd grade so I've had a lot of practice, and my mom bought a typing program. I can type relatively fast sometimes, (not as fast as I used to) but I do tend to make mistakes (kinda like what jellysundae said).

Uh...I don't know if I'm average or not. I can blind type fine with above average speed, still making mistakes like teh once in a while. But I don't type in the right hand to J left hand to H way. I learned typing by first looking down at the keyboard, typing quite fast that way but using all the wrong finger positions.
After a while I retained finger muscle memory (if such a thing exist) and I just use that to blind type. Have no idea if what I said made sense. I remember when I used to have to look down at the keyboard and wishing I could look at microsoft work while I type. Because I love the way how the little type thing would move and the letters would magically show up. XD not to mention I've been surrounded by people who can at least type fast even while looking downa t the keyboard so I don't know how to compare my skills to the rest. |

My typing is pretty decent. I just take a bit of a slower time when I have to do it the "proper" way. Also sometimes if its a different keyboard to what I usually use, I sometimes get hindered by that as well. Like my new keyboard I swear the keys are smaller then my old one so I have to somewhat adjust to the keys because I go to hit one key I add like another one as well. |
I chicken pecked for YEARS, and only recently started not needing to look at the keyboard all the time. >.>; When I did chicken peck, though, I got crazy fast at doing it. Now I just kinda switch back and forth, from looking at the screen, to the keyboard, to the screen, so on and so forth. XD;
I feel really useless, though. I'm fourteen and I don't have a consistent way of typing at all. There will be times where my hands remember where all the keys are so I don't have to look at the key board, other times where they've completely forgotten where the keys are so I have to staaare at the keyboard while I type, and times where my hands aren't sure what they're doing, so I flick back and forth like I mentioned above. XD; Depending on how I'm typing, one of my friends (who's EIGHT. Or nine. I can never remember.) types faster then me. ;-; |
I type fairly fast, mostly because I am on the computer a lot. However I do not use the correct, standardized way of typing. I poke keys (which also have something to do with the way I play the keyboard). Not exactly chicken pecking, but it isn't right either. I guess people don't say anything since I type with correct spelling and punctuation. |
