I think I do.
I'll feel like I'm hungry, but I'll actually be thirsty.
Or vice verse; I'll feel like I'm thirsty but I'll actually be hungry.
Is this normal or am I insane?
.________.;;;

I'm not overweight, at the healthy weight for my height and age, but I'm just wondering.
I've taken to carrying water-bottles and diced apple with me wherever I go.
Is that weird?

And wow, this is one of the shortest introductory posts I've ever made.

I thought this should maybe go in the 'Life Issues' forum, but it isn't really an issue, I'm just curious.

I've never had that problem. o.o; I feel hungry in my stomach, and it's a completely different feeling than feeling thirsty, which for me feels like my mouth or throat is dry or something. All I know is, it's a completely different feeling.

@Yume- So you get it at the same time as well?
I don't like it though, because if I'm eating when I'm not hungry I'm gonna put on weight and get fat.
T-T

@Vicki- Why don't I have that?
I honestly can never tell the difference between the two.

It's normal. It's a scientific thing...something about the muscles in your stomach contracting the same way when you need liquid as they do when you need food. Happens to most everyone.

well, thirst is a very faint feeling. You usually don't feel thirsty until you are dehydrated.
The feeling of being thirsty before dehydration is so faint that it is usually mistaken for hunger.
as is being just a little hungry can be mistaken for being thirsty.
This is normal because it happens to everyone. If you feel just a little hungry and say you have just eaten, drink a little water and you might feel better.

It sometimes happens to me, although now it's been brought up, i can't say i've experienced it for a while.
I usually find myself eating, then want something to drink, or vice versa.

I don't think I've ever experienced that before. I don't really drink a lot unless I'm having a meal or I've been working outside. Maybe it's because I usually eat and have something to drink with it that I don't notice this. If I do them at the same time then I guess I don't realize which solved the empty place in my stomach. But then....I'm hungry all the time, so maybe I'm actually thirsty? I don' t know.

@Roah- Well that's a relief.
It's just really annoying, because I can't decide whether I'm hungry or thirsty all the time.
v.v

@slickie- Yeah, I've got a box of water bottles under my desk, so I just grab one out whenever I feel hungry too often.
xD

@Sun- Do you think it'll go away?
Dxx

@Strawberri- Like a subconscious-type thing? That's plausible.

@Sho- Yeah, I usually have something to drink with dinner and lunch, but that's about it.
-nodnod-
I'll just keep carrying water bottles around with me.

Most of the time I can tell the difference between hunger and thirst unless I'm tired. Usually I'm both hungry and thirsty at the same time. I can't eat without drinking or vice versa.

Well, that does happen to me sometimes, but not often enough that I really notice.

Sometimes, though, I'll think I'm hungry and get a craving for something really juicy... then I'll bite into it and think, "Ahhh! I could use some more of that." So I just satisfy my thirst and hunger all at once.

Apples or watermelon are perfect for that. :3

I have heard that sometimes when people feel hungry, they are actually thirsty so, I don't think you are weird at all. I have found that sometimes when I feel hungry, drinking a glass of water makes the feeling go away.

That has never happened to me that I can remember. But most of the time I am both hungry and thirsty at the same time, so it really doesn't matter.

well, if you feel hungry but are actually thirsty, that feeling of hunger will go away.
but if you actually ARE hungry, it won't go away.
Keep in mind that everyone is different. I haven't met one person who eats three square meals a day. usually they have snacks in between, witch is actually more healthy.
It's all based on your metabolism. it's kind of backwards, actually and the reason why is because your body is constantly trying to adapt.
If you eat more often, you will actually shed the weight because your body isn't trying to store it, seeing it has plentiful food. If you never eat breakfast and for example eat one really big meal a day and nothing else, you will gain weight because your body sees itself as starving and will try to store some for later.
My mom is constantly eating now and in two years, she lost 200 pounds.
she's the one that actually told me about the hunger feeling being thirst.

Yeah, this used to be a big problem for me. Now I carry a 1 liter bottle of water with me. Before I was drinking all this water I would get really tired and feel generally crappy. I finally wanted to live a more healthy life figuring I'd feel better if I changed my habits. One of those habit was learning the distinction between hunger and thrist. I would be eating when I was actually thristy. So now I have a better handle on it. One interesting thing I learned was when you feel really thristy you're already dehydrating.

That's an intersting topic to bring up. I've never had it happen to me, though.

I can't imagine it being related to any health problems... Maybe it's just a little quirk?

Nah, whenever I'm hungry or thirsty, I usually drink milk and that cures both issues XD
