I can only fully understand English, right now. But I can read Spanish and understand some of it, because I took spanish I for a short while. And I can understand a few Japanese words, because I took Japanese I for a little while too.

Also, I can Read and write Korean, speak and understand some of it. I'm starting up classes again this month. ;]

So that's four languages altogether.

I would like to correct that Cantonese and Mandarin are both Chinese dialects... so that means you speak English, Chinese and Japanese... :)

I fluently speak English and Filipino (Tagaog dialect), and I can speak Chinese but not fluently (I studied Mandarin and Fookien for 12 years and I could only understand half of what the Chinese movie subtitles are saying... XD)

I'm starting to learn Japanese, Spanish, and German, and as far as I can recall, I can speak a bit of them...

So, that's like, 6 languages?? XD

I used to speak French pretty well. My mum enrolled me in the French program in kindergarten, I stayed in it until the end of grade 7. Now that I haven't been speaking it regularly I've kind of lost my words. DDD; I can understand it fine, though, which is odd.

Next year I'm taking Spanish as an elective, so hopefully I'll do well in that. Or should I take German? I have no idea.

I speak English and Chinese fluently, though I can't really read or write Chinese. I can find my way around in French, but since I quit, it's been a while. I've been learning Japanese, I can find my way around in that too... but not without epically embarrassing myself. But at least they know what I'm asking for, and I can understand when they laugh at me... which might not be a good thing.

I can speak only english right now, but I'm in spanish classes and can understand it pretty well if I see it written down.
I plan to learn french next, because lots of my friends took/are taking it, and it's a pretty language.
Then I think I might want to learn japanese, because I would love to learn a language that doesn't use the same alphabet as us, because it would be challenging, and I want to go to japan a lot some day. xD
So yeah, I have a few languages going on (or at least, that I'm planning to learn), though not quite as much as some of you.

I speak English fluently, I can understand French and Vietnamese to a degree when spoken, sadly my French is reserved for colorful insults. (Such a dirty, sexy language, hahah)
Went through a religious grade school that was very rooted to Lithuanian traditions, so I had to learn to sing, pray, follow orders during mass, and answer in Lithuanian when it was needed.
Martial arts training and teaching required me to understand and speak Korean commands. Beyond that, not enough to hold a conversation.

Can write and say Japanese phrases if I had to, I refuse to mix English and Japanese words in the same sentence, it is a pet peeve of mine sparked by too many Otaku using common words unneeded in sentences just to say them.

Had Spanish classes with no interest in high school since it felt forced, have a friend trying to continue my Spanish. I have taken a slight interest in German and Russian, Russian sounds nowhere near how it is written, leaving that interest as something not practical to learn at this point.

As for how many I speak, I consider English my only language, as I speak and think in that tongue. Any other language that is not fluent is more like mimicking apposed to conversing and comprehending.

I speak English pretty well, if that counts. I have also studied Spanish, Japanese, and Esperanto. I took Spanish for five years and Japanese for two years and worked on Esperanto about six months before life got in the way. I actually know more Japanese than Spanish, but I think that is because I don't watch the Spanish channel but wallow in Japanese anime sites. I have fallen a bit behind in my Japanese now since I don't have anybody to study with anymore, but that is my own fault. I like writing in Japanese though I am better at reading and speaking it than spelling things from memory. That has never been my strong suit, even in English.

I speak English. I learned Japanese in high school, but I'm far from fluent. If I listen to a conversation, I can get the gist of it, but I doubt I'd be able to converse. I know a few Chinese words and phrases but am totally lost in the pronunciation of them. Other random scraps of words I know are from Korean and Hawaiian.

The one language I really want to learn personally is Korean. My Aunt is Korean and she hates everything and anyone Japanese so if she knew I took up Japanese in college, it would kill her. Her two sons collect all types of Japanese anime and manga and she goes into their rooms and throws them out when she finds them. Oi, still...I'm told that Korean, Chinese, and Japanese share words so it might be easy to switch.

I'd like to fluently speak five languages by the time I've 50.

My native language is English.
I can possibly speak French like a French six-year-old, but understand it like a toddler.
I want to learn Japanese, German, and one other language, maybe African, but I can't choose because there are so many! It's just that I know five is a lot already, so I don't want to set such an insane goal.

I speak a language and 1/2. xD
My native language is English & then I know, to some degree, French.
Not fluent, but I can understand alot of it.
Enough to communicate.

Then there's bits and pieces of German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese.
But nothing even close to enough to have any kind of fluent conversation.
I'd like to learn more eventually. But it's alot to try at all at once.

I'm an awful multi-tasker.
