Every now and then, one of my classes just has to have one:

Restate-statements-as-questions guy.

No matter how simple the concept is, he or she has to ask about it. And it's not some deep, intellectually-stimulating question; it's a question that just verifies what the professor JUST said. Example:

Prof: "Today, we're seeing religious revivals similar to those of the past Great Awakenings."

R-A-Q guy: "So religious revivals are still taking place TODAY?"

Yes. Yes, they are. In fact, the professor just said as much.

Don't be restate-statements-as-questions guy. Resist the urge. Please.

Our school was full of people that did that. Mainly because a lot of the time, they didn't know the answer, or have anything useful to contribute if picked on.
I only tend to say things like that, when i've been day dreaming, and suddenly get asked a question. I've been aware of people talking, but not the question being asked.
I guess it could just be, the guy didn't know such things were going on now.

Hah. I feel like a hypocrite because I'm annoyed when I hear people constantly doing that, but I catch myself doing it too sometimes.

I do that sometimes, but that's only because I have a two second attention span and miss what people say a lot of the time. I'm kind of dumb too in a sense so a lot of things go right over my head.

I probably don't do that enough D:>
It annoys me to no end when a certain someone in my class, (who doesn't seem all that bright), repeatedly asks questions on things we've just been through.
Though it pays off in the end, when it comes to our major feedback tests, they'll get one of/ if not the highest mark in the class.

perhaps repeating is a way of remembering, but tis does seem a bit redundant.
through i can't remember doing this myself, i probably didn't, i once spoke a sentence in math class and the teacher said t'was the most she'd heard outta me all year. i was a quiet person >.<;

There is a possibility that someone told him they were doing something else that day so he wasn't prepared for it. Maybe he had to ask to be sure he heard right. Unless he never pays attention and does it all the time, I'm not getting how this is supposed to be so annoying...

Of course, I went to school with the kind of people who would go completely off topic and ask something stupid, like where do babies come from, just to see how the teacher would handle it. This kind of stuff happened on a daily basis. As if that didn't annoy me enough, the fact that the teachers let them do it and would actually spend the time to explain the answer did. Give me the person who repeats things over that any day. xD

Well, I'm not talking about occasionally doing this, or having an off-day when you can't seem to grasp anything that's being said. It happens to all of us.

And there's sometimes a fine line between asking a relevant question and restating a statement. Basically, if the professor is forced to repeat him/herself and not go any deeper, the question wasn't worth asking.

I've had classes where I could point to one specific individual and say without any doubt that he or she will ask at least three questions during that specific class that he or she could answer himself by simply listening and regurgitating the professor's words.

Usually, it's someone who sits up front and is trying, desperately, to look like a model student. In the end, we don't cover all of the material because the professor is spending 10-15 minutes out of the class period spoon-feeding information to the guy.

I guess I can understand if it's something someone does all the time because they aren't listening. I've just never met someone who had to constantly repeat questions so often that other students actually expected it to happen. I'm just lucky, maybe?

I do that once in a while, generally because I didn't hear them very well.
But I hate the people who ALWAYS do it.

Those people are pretty annoying. I don't get it as much in my classes though. Except for a few who were sleeping before the teacher said anything.

Oooh I feel your pain about those kind of people.
It's almost like they didn't really listen O.o
I mean, it's one thing if someone said something so dang outrageous you can't help but say it in the form of a question, but to do that to a simple statement in class? It get's annoying. o.o;;

I do that just so that I have a response.

'Cause I mean .. if somebody reminds me that I have a test today, I don't
want to just say nothing, right ? They think that I'm rude or not listening.
And then they got all pissed off with me. :/ Or when I say, 'Oh,' they'll
think I'm not listening too. Or if I say 'kay', it makes it sound like I have an
'attitude'. And if I say, 'I know,' it makes me sound like I'm being a smary-pants.
So I say, 'WE DO?!'.

T_____T; NOTHING WORKS. D':

I don't restate things in forms of questions to teachers though.
'Cause .. we shouldn't be talking anyway.

So technically, it's not my fault that the people around me are morons. D:
I don't do it often though. Usually I pick one of the options above. o___o;

I think it's fine- but if they do it repeatedly, it annoys me. :U

Hahaha... I do that. It's not as much a question though as it is an expression of shock at whatever was said. I usually say something else regarding the matter after I restate it as a question though.

These days, my mind is very slow so I do ask again. Not questions though, usually the answers. I keep asking to make sure but then afterwards, I forget it!
