I voted for the first time this morning (unless you count the primaries). Everyone there kept congratulating me on being a first time voter while I was there since there weren't a lot of people there when I went. I felt like a celebrity. XD

Personal opinion, I don't think it would change anything. As my fiance say's just go for the person that will lie to you the least. That's saying something. But I live in Canada so I don't matter. I don't vote here either anyways.

Voting used to be considered a civic duty. People didn't question whether or not they wanted to go down and vote. It was their duty and they did it.
I have never voted before this year, but I decided that it was time I did. I didn't vote today because I did a mail in ballot a few weeks ago. I did go with my sister to her polling place though. I'm sitting here typing this and from the other room I hear on NBC news that Obama has won, 284 to 146. |

i voted for teh winner of the presidential election. *OBAMA* :boogie: my boyfriend and i were drinking *me rum and coke, him vodka* we were toasting when he kept getting states and we had a drink when he won! this was all done virtually b/c he's away at school atm >.< we'll celebrate when he comes home. and we'll have a party on Jan 20 2009!!!!!!!!!!! Prop 4 is a real surprising one, but to respect the teenagers that it affects, I would rather not have that one pass. A Yes on Prop 4 would require all underage teenage females to tell their parents that they're getting an abortion. @ Ljos: you'll be surprised at how big an ass Palin is. xD |

You know, I actually believe that many conservatives are wonderful people-- just not Sarah Palin. She's extreme, ill-informed, and ridiculously self-assured for someone with absolutely no knowledge of foreign affairs or economic policy.
I hope, for the sake of both her party and this country, that she doesn't become of future leader of the Republicans. More than an issue of respect for the young women concerned, I think that proposition 4 would also put many teen girls in danger. From 1-11 I grew up in a very, very unhealthy environment, and from personal experience I can say that a good portion of the young women who become pregnant at a young age also cannot safely afford to give that information to their parents. Moreover, the court process suggested to address this problem would be lengthy enough to subvert the entire issue. At a basic level, I believe that the writers of Prop 4 are anti-Roe v. Wade overall. This is merely the most that they could hope to pass in CA. Prop 8: Quote:

I voted for Obama. =D I didn't vote on all of the propositions, because I didn't research all of them. I researched the props that I voted on, and made a educated decision. I'm not going into my reasons now, but I'll give you a rundown. I voted: Obama Benoit for congress (go libertarians!) Yes on 2 No on 4 Yes on 7 Yes on 8 |
