Watching TV, definitely.
Sometimes reading can help, but not if I'm really upset/stressed. If I am, then I can't focus well on what I'm reading. I'll start off reading, then my mind will start to wander to whatever is bothering me and I'll realize that I didn't absorb a single word of the paragraph I just read. With TV, it's easier for me to zone out and forget myself and get absorbed into the story. I remember my problems when the show is over, but it calms me down so it takes the edge off of them a little. Showers also can calm me down, though I take them in the morning. Often if I'm mad or upset before I get in the shower, by the time I finish I feel better. It's not always the case, but sometimes it helps. |
For me i'd say sitting. Doesn't matter where I just enjoy sitting. It's my most relaxing part of the day. After standing all day it should be understandable. ^^;;

Music, Reading, playing either The Sims or EVE Online and/or spending time with my Man.
I am a rather stressy person by nature and so I've had to make sure I'm calm before bedtime, otherwise I will just stress about the problem or my day all night! |
The only thing that really calms down, is by singing. I just love singing to myself.

Anything, actually.
If I have time before going to sleep, then I either go on the Internet, Watch TV, play video games, read, or just sketch out a simple picture :3 |
haha i say pretty boys * gets bricked * XD;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
watching dramas or movies with ppl i like calms me down after a long day ...>_> and also keeps me awake for a long long night XD:;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; |
Guess reading and watching TV calms me after a long day. But I usually stretch the long day all the way until I go to bed so I never get a chance to rest. I'm a big procrastinator.

Yeah, I'm a nerd, I do math for fun, what of it. It really chills me out to just figure out a neat algorithm or something. I like the feeling of accomplisment. |
I knit or crochet something simple I don't really have to think about and just concentrate on how the stitches move through my fingers and the yarn slowly turns into something wearable. I also read and on particularly stressful days I take a nice bath.

Thanks for the words. That's how I feel when I program. Just seeing something come out of yourself and turn into something that actually has a purpose is really really neat. |
It's such an amazing feeling isn't it? I love how by doing something as simple as pulling a yarn through a loop I can make something beautiful and intricate and it reminds me to slow down and take life one step at a time.

Wow I could have never imagined this thread would grow this much.
Thanks for all the responses! =D |
what i do after a long day hmm...sleep i be up all morning

For me it would have to be some sort of leisurely wandering videogame like animal crossing. Totally engrosses you out of the stresses of the day and then is fun and relaxing.
Otherwise, a nice hot bath with salts and scrubs and things with a nice herbal tea. And maybe something gooey to eat with the tea, or a piece of coffee cake. |
Ok, I'm gonna admit something that would be kinda embarrassing if people saw me, but here goes:
I like to put all of my stuffed animals (I have LOTS of them) on my bed, and then I climb under the covers, so I'm completely buried in stuffed animals, with just my face sticking out. Makes me feel all safe and comfy. Then I can usually sleep. |
I usually listen to music to calm myself down. Especially when I'm in a pissed off mood.

Music and a bath helps a great deal after a stressful day.
