I never missed a day of school until highschool.
Freshman year I was deathly ill for two days, so I missed then, but that'd pretty much been it. At least until Senior year, ha ha. Senior year, I was so sick of school, and most of the classes I had were fillers, since we had to have five classes minimum. Now that I'm in University and for the most part taking classes I want to take, I hardly ever skip. Only if I'm really sick or really tired, especially since most of my Professors have the rule: "If you can't stay awake or focus, don't come to class, I'll just kick you out." I'm the same way about work too. For the first three years I had a job, I never called in sick. Even when I was dependent on my parents to take me to work because I was only 14, I walked to work if I had to. But after three years of juggling work and school, you get tired of it and so last year I called in sick a lot. I feel bad, but they sent me or other people home every shift anyways, we were so slow and overstaffed 90% of the time. |
I skip class on occasion, but not often. 3 abscenses and you can't exempt the final exam at the end of the semester!
I NEVER skipped work. My bosses were too intimidating. |
Well this is going to sound bad I know but I used to skip school ALOT in the 8th grade. Of course, I was growing up in the worst part of town in New Orleans and did not have the best role models in my life. That's for damn sure. I would pretend to go to the bus stop, books in hand, but as soon as my grandmother would leave for work, I was gone. I would meet up with a girl friend of mine, who was 2 years older than me, and we would sneak under the fence at Bonnabel High School and go hang out with the older kids smoking pot behind the buildings. Stupid, yes I know. Of course, it was my older friend who was selling it to them. And if I am not mistaken, I think she was stealing it from her father?!
BIG mistake kiddos. Trust that I paid the piper for that shit. I ended up in girls boarding school for 2.5 years - a Southern Baptist girls home. Need I say more? It was worse than military boot camp and survival school combined. And yes, I did serve in the Air Force so the comparison is indeed valid. LOL I regret doing those things back then and if I could go back and change that part of my life, I would. |
I can honestly say that I've only ever skipped class ONCE. I ALWAYS go to class or work no matter what.
I'm just a goodie two shoes like that... ^///^ |
no, never skipped school, maybe once in a while a class...
|
well i dont usually skip...but this year i've been skipping
alot of classes and i feel bad about it...its weird!!! |
i dont have a job
and i dont skip school (only when im sick ); because if i do, i would miss a lot of the work and have no idea what the classes are discussing about the next day i'd also feel guilty |
Yeah, I do skip school. It feels like I've been hit with a bad case of Senioritis a bit too early.
|
I don't show up to classes some times XD
|
I'm too much of a goody-two-shoes for that. DX
The most I've done is slept in to skip a class that I really didn't like and have my mother call me in sick. |
Nah, I don't skip. I now I'm dorky but I really, really like my school and (most of) my classes, it's where all my friends are, and it keeps me from being a hermit/gives me something to do. I actually really HATE missing school, because just one day puts you behind, and it can be hard to catch up. Plus when you ditch what is there to do? I faked sick once quite a few years back, and I sat home bored out of my freaking mind. So yeah... x' D |
i can't skip work unless i'm dying, and even then i feel terribly guilty about it. lol. i don't even like my work! still, i have an obligation to people and if i don't show i know things wont run smoothly and get done properly and what ever so i just can't. i think i've probably taken four or five sick days since i started working there, and only one of them was a "i just can't be bothered going"... i called it a mental health day. need it sometimes i guess, but i get two weeks off every six months anyway so i just hang in and wait for that. school was a different story. i think my last year i took more days off than i actually went too.

I don't skip classes. I just skip school all together but alot of the time my parents know about it.
|
I only skipped school when I was so sick I couldn't get out of bed.
|
I don't skip school. I'd have nothing to do if I did.
And the catching up I'd have to do isn't worth it. |
i've never skipped school or work because I just never have a reason to. I like going to class, and i wouldn't skip unless I actually had something i needed to do. Or if someone in class was annoying enough to make me not want to go or something.
|
I skipped school once because I told my dad I had a headache(it wasnt a big one)
I skip homework sometimes and just do it the next day unless if its due. |
When I was still going to school I did skip a couple of times, but always acted sick so I had an excuse lol. Did spend all day in front of the comp usually, moaning about my sickness from time to time but mostly enjoying the free time it gave me.

I've skipped work before. I was feeling crappy the day before so I decided to call in the next day for the hell of it. Me and my fiancee ended up roaming around the woods by our apartments trying to find the spring that's down there. I took a bunch of pictures of the spring and creek down there. It was very fun times.

I used to skip school a lot but learned from my mistakes - I occasionally skip classes that I have nothing to do in, though.

This is the topic for me! Not something to be proud of, mind you... Impressionable young teens, plug your ears and all that. Really,
In my high school, we were allowed 25 absences a year, and not a year went by that I didn't pass that number. I'd always have to go and get doctors notes and plead with the school board and write letters and so on. I'm amazed they ever allowed me to graduate. Every day in school, it just felt like things were pointless. Lots of busywork, rote memorization, lots of general blah-ness, lots of fluorescent lighting and stale air and cardboard-flavored food. I went to class two days a week or so to turn in big assignments and papers and to see my friends, but that wasn't enough to keep me motivated to go. I'd stay up all night and sleep through the day, or just go to the state park and read during school hours. I was always worried about getting caught by the police or something, so I didn't go anywhere public. At some point, I stopped showing up for a month or so and some of my friends told this girl I was dead. I was very, very confused by her panicked reaction when I came back. I ended up graduating on time with a 3.4, did well on my AP exams, and got into all of the colleges I applied to. Now I live with the class valedictorian who missed 2 days in all of high school, and she's on the same scholarship as me. Some fair and well-organized education system we've got, huh? It makes me a little sick and weirded out when I think back on it. Now that I'm a college student I don't skip classes, though, since it's so different from high school, and the classes are much more engaging. I'll accidentally sleep through a morning class every once in a while, but that's it. |
I skip as much as I can...My mom calls me off though. She is a god. DX <3

yes i skip school on occasion but never work because i have to have money lol ;)

I do skip, for much the same reason. Once, in a land long ago and far away, I was a good little girl and wished to go to school, although my mother did encourage me to skip. My mom's a funny lass. Anyways, circa middle school there was a year in which I became rabidly depressed, and skipped one specific class because I didn't want to have to face the ex-best-friend in it. I had plenty of very good friends, but I care about people and I'd thought she and I were close. That was the first time I ever skipped. In High School, though, I became more laissez faire. I've skipped in two separate classes, cases in which I had respect for neither teacher and knew for a bona fide fact that I wasn't going to learn anything in class that day. Strangely enough, every single time I've skipped a class I have spent that time doing school work. And I also tell whichever adult that I'm living with when I do choose to skip school. I'm a real rebel. So that's my tale. I would never skip work, just as I never skip the classes in which people depend on me. Edit: Also, pushpin? I love you! And, in my opinion, that is fair: you made a good use of your time, obviously, or you wouldn't have done so well despite your absences. High school in the States seems to be something along the lines of glorified babysitting, unfortunately. I want to become a teacher, mind, so my saying this is a really, really sad thing. |
The only time I miss work is if I am truly sick. I missed work last week because I had the Flu and then it turned into pneumonia. I was in bed for a week. Have to go back next week for x-ray to make sure my chest cleared up. I am finally feeling better.
