New year resolutions?

Alright, since most people seem to make resolutions, here's a topic about them!

Personally, I don't really make them anymore. My last resolution was about three yeas ago and it was a resolution not to make anymore new year resolutions. So far I've done pretty damn good on that one.

So, here are the spoons! Remember that if you're going to put them in your post, to quote them as not quoting them is against the rules!

- Do you make new year resolutions?
- If you do, what's your resolution for this year?
- Why did you make that resolution?
- I'd like to know what you think of people who make and break their resolutions.
- What are you hoping for in the new year?

Now, rules, because I really hate it when people pound on their keyboards like a four year old.

- Use proper capitalization.
- Use punctuation. Don't just make a large post one giant run on sentence.
- Double spaced paragraph form please, thank you.
- Spell to the best of your ability, and don't use chatspeak.
- Please try to post using proper grammar. Not asking you to be an English graduate, but please be literate. Thank you!
- Emotes, whether text or image, are not punctuation!

Happy New Years everyone! :boogie:

Sadistix_Love 01-01-2009 03:52 AM

First, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!! <-Been screaming this all online to every thread she jumped in and to every person she spoke to for the past three days

Haha, this is the GD, no need to be very literate! It's the New Year! Everyone should be able to relax! <3 (Will reply to your PM after this... Or tomorrow if I get lazy)

Okay, back to the discussion. I personally never make any resolutions because I never stick to them. I can never promise myself and am not planning to do them now. ^^ But what I do hope for this year is to do better in school! Close to graduating and it is scaring the hell out of me just thinking about it...

My new years' resolution is to finish the book I'm writing. Not like I think i'm going to finish all of it in a year, but I might get more motivated to write it, which is basically the purpose of a new years' resolution.

Jaz 01-01-2009 04:01 AM

Normally, I don't care to make new years resolutions but this year I've been rather inspired ^.^

My two resolutions for this year are to keep up on my physical journal, and to look for a job in my field (hopefully GET a job in my field!).

Midian 01-01-2009 04:35 AM

To not be a fatty.
Because I'm a fatty.
I don't really think about when other people break them.
Hmm a wedding (about time) and hopefully a baby, or at least a bump. XD

Insane Cricket 01-01-2009 04:37 AM

You didn't use punctuation. >.<

Oh, and you don't want to be a fatty but you want to have a baby or get pregnant? You realize you're completely contradicting yourself, right?

Claudia 01-01-2009 04:56 AM

I don't really have any specific new years resolutions. I do have ongoing goals I am working on:

- Sucessful betta babies. At least fifty raised to sale age.
- Professional quality portfolio. 100 pro quality pictures. Minimize hobbyist quality pictures.
-Health related issues/ fitness/ more greens. Will be taken of after I get my new job and have more money to buy a gym membership.
- Start a house /business fund. Will also happen when I start my new job.
- Get a dog for my birthday. Ditto for new job/increased income.
- Get a relationship. More online dating.
- Get the new job with increased income that will result in me filling my other goals.
-Write heaps of letters.
- Clear out all my rodent stuff for selling.
- Do more road trips and attend more clubs.

I came up with one as I was watching the fireworks shortly after midnight. I'll be nicer to my brother, it'll be hard but I'll somehow make it work. Don't get me wrong, I'm not randomly being a bish to him, he's 12, yes 12 years younger than me, the age difference is crazy, he's loud and brash and just generally annoying, me? Heh, I like quiet time. Alot. Which clashes all the time and he does like to piss me off at times.

Happy New Year! Here's to a great 2009!

Anyway, I don't make New Year's Resolutions anymore. I never keep them and they're just added guilt, so why bother? Or, if I do make resolutions, they're ones that are small and easily achievable. Nothing like becoming an Olympic-grade athlete or anything. :P

I don't really blame people for not being able to keep their New Year's Resolutions, I sure couldn't. Then again, maybe they just should abstain from making them or make easy ones. Hmmm...

In this brand new super-shiny year, I'd like to enjoy my classes and improve my German (I get closer and closer to being fluent!) as well as make a few new friends, or at least get closer to old ones.

...To be more careful when celebrating on new years eve...twited my ankle...likley cause was too much vodka...

Midian 01-01-2009 05:10 PM

I put periods on it. :O And I meant being a fatty from eating. Being pregnant fat is different. I want to be thinner so when I become pregnant I wont be even bigger. Does that make sense?

Majinkoz 01-01-2009 05:46 PM

My boyfriend and I are going to work out...not to loose weight....well not for ME to loose weight just to get healthier. And for my boyfriend to loose weight. ^^

Kieran Haines 01-01-2009 06:22 PM

Mine is to not procrastinate as much. x _x Man, what a bad habit that has developed into...

You're supposed to quote the spoons.

Bartuc 01-01-2009 11:22 PM

I would like to ask every to please quote spoons when using them. If you look at the rules. You will see that Menewsha requires you to quote spoons so you do not gain gold for other peoples posts. Regardless if the owner says it is option. You are still required under the rules to quote the spoofed questions ^^;

Insane Cricket 01-01-2009 11:23 PM

I didn't say it was an option, I told them to quote them. =S

See? This is what I said in the first post.

I am aware of that. However, your post indicates that it is option with this. The rules of menewsha state that you must quote spoons regardless when they are given.

Ehnvy 01-01-2009 11:34 PM

I apologise for not quoting a spoon, I didn't want to treat you like a toddler who needs it spelled out to them to which question I answer. I was simply trying not to be rude. Again, I apologise.

Also, I will refrain from posting in these types of threads. This killed it for me.

Insane Cricket 01-01-2009 11:37 PM

I thought you could respond to a spoon without even placing the spoon in your post. =S Huh, then I've broken that rule about twenty times.

Ehnvy 01-01-2009 11:47 PM

No apparently you must either quote spoon for spoon or quote the entire first post when responding.

It doesn't even make a difference. It only serves to spam the thread up with the OP's sppons/entire first post in each and every post after.

And everyone got a verbal warning. I'll stay clean of the GD from now on.

Insane Cricket 01-01-2009 11:48 PM

Oh knock it off Ehvey. Avoiding an entire forum just because of this? That's kinda childish.

Ehnvy 01-01-2009 11:51 PM

It's not childish. I stated my reasons for this decision to Bartuc. I personally find it very condescending and downright rude to spell it out to people to which question you are answering as if they were retards with an IQ the size of my shoesize. I do not want to object this to anyone. I was treated very condescendingly throughout my childhood and I'm making it a point to not be like this now that I'm an adult, on and offline.

Midian 01-02-2009 12:12 AM

I got a warning for not quoting your spoons because i make gold off typing them out. But I didn't type out the quotes so I'm confused as to why i got a warning. What's wrong with my post?

Bartuc 01-02-2009 12:14 AM

After a discussion over this. The conclusion is that it really is pointless to quote the spoons if you are not going to post them. ^^; Sorry about that confusion cricket, as well as everyone else.

Edit: However, please quote them IF You do paste them into your post.
