Well, it's not like I feel awful because I think I'm going to hell, I just thought I was an ok person, but this says otherwise lol.

I mean that sin is a concept dreamed up by the Christian patriarchy to keep people in line. Look at the list of 'sins,' and you'll see things that run the entire gamut of things from those that really hurt no one, to those that only hurt the person doing them, to those that hurt others, and those which hurt society in general.

I choose to evaluate my behavior not on external standards, but based on who's being helped or hurt by it. If I choose, for instance, to make a New Year's resolution to have sex with a different girl each month of 2009, that's two sins by standard reckoning... first, that I'm planing to have sex with people who look too much like me, and secondly, that I'm planning to sleep around!

But who am I really hurting? Presuming that everyone involved is willing, that appropriate safer sex practices are used, and no one gets too emotionally involved and gets hurt that way, I would say I'm hurting no one... and maybe helping a dozen girls and, yes, me!

Actually, that's a very good point. I've never looked at it that way before.
To me it just seems that the sins are only sins when they are taken in excess or to an extreme. Your example shows that maybe it could be considered extreme, but, as you said, provided all the conditions you've listed, it's still not really a sin. Now, I might count it as a sin if you were sleeping with all the girls and telling each one you loved them just to get into their pants. That, to me, makes it wrong.

I love how religious twits are worse people than I am. Ah-haha

Take a look at why it's a sin in your eyes, though. Isn't it because I would have set up conditions for someone to get hurt? If I said that, and she believed it, and then discovered that it wasn't true, there's at least a potential, and even a probability, of her suffering emotional distress.

Yes, that's true. I think that there may be a need to reevaluate what, exactly, sins are. We haven't even touched but one of the sins so far.

@Suona - Yeah me too. Kye came over and brought his heater though =^-^= so I holed up in the office with the heater and computer to warm me up. I actually got warm enough to take my jacket off o.O
