Every Sunday, I attend church with my parents. Usually, it's the same stuff I've always listened to the priests talk about. Occasionally, I get the chance to hear the sermon of my favorite priest, who was born in Ireland. What makes him so different from the other priests (accent aside, mind you) is that he sometimes bursts into song in the middle of his homily. Not only does he sing, but he sings beautifully. For example, recently, one of the priests in our parish died. This Irish Father gave a eulogy in his homily for the priest who had passed. During this, he sang a song as a tribute. It was so moving that I cried.

Another odd situation I was in once occurred in a computer lab. My friend and I were each playing Sonic on our respective computers when he suddenly started singing "If I Were A Rich Man" without provocation. He sang it all the way through while I stared at him with my mouth open in fascination.

I've often found myself wishing that my life could be more like a musical. I'm not necessarily asking for more drama in my life. I just think it'd be interesting if people started singing for no reason at all.

So, what I want to know is when has your life been like a musical?
What situations have you found yourself in where you wished someone would just start singing and dancing?

I'd like my mom to dance around singing "we're in the money" and mean it cause right now we're really struggling.

My mom's very existence makes my life a musical! Bless her heart I love that woman to death. But I hate it when she just randomly just bursts not only into song, but into dance.:boogie: (and she does this everyday, folks)

Goodness I don't know what I'd do without her. She makes life worth living, that woman. She's so comical, I think she mostly does it for my benefit to bring up my spirits. Another thing my mom does is background noise and sound effects. My mom's sound effects are hilarious!

We make fun of her, and tell her to do it again until she realizes we're making fun of her and she says "ya, ya" which is Spanish for "that's enough, that's enough" Her random dancing is what annoys me the most though, I mean... why?

Every day! D;
My family bursts into song spontaneously,
their favorite is the "Sandwich" song from Fred Penner
Which I love! ... but I chose to avoid singing it in public,
because I like to think that I have dignity ....

;__;

That's the best!

I'm also glad I'm not the only one with family who just bursts into song with no provocation, but your entire family? wowzas!

They do it in public! Dx
It's my entire family.

My brother can come up with rhymes off the top of his head
(that are hilarious, I have to admit)
so he can take any theme song, his fave being the Discovery Channel's Boom de Yada -- I love the world song,
Yesterday he was joking that if you play it backwards it has subliminal messages
so he changed it into a controversial, but really funny, "Kill Obama" subliminal message song.
I laughed so hard I cried. xD

My sister loves trying to "butcher a song" as she says, singing it as horribly as possible. Dx
Her fave to butcher is Listen to your Heart.

My mom just starts singing when a song comes to mind,
my sister joins in, my brother joins in , and as of recently my sister's fiancé has too!

I used to join in,
but then I realized that I'd start doing it in public without realizing, like they do.
So, now I'm just the kid who yells spontaneously. D;
...
I like to think I'm recovering.
My voice still wants to project itself.

Come to think of it, my mom sings and dances at random times, too. I try not to pay attention because it's a bother for me. Whenever I ask her to please move (such as when I'm carrying heavy groceries and she is in my way), she...wiggles in a dancing motion. Or when we're in the car with the radio on, she'lll start dancing, snapping her fingers, and clapping her hands sometimes. It's not like my mother has a bad voice or anything. It just gets to me, especially when I have a headache. I guess she is where I get my "Let's randomly sing in the kitchen" gene from.

Actually, I make my life into a mini musical fairly regularly, although I only just realized it. I have a tendency to stuff snippets of songs into conversations when I hear a word or phrase that reminds me of lyrics that I know. So, for example, when people say "too many" I tend to sing "Too Many People" by The Leaves. (It's an old 60's song.) Sometimes, I eve do a little dance while I sing, if the occasion calls for it.
Oh, and sometimes I like to sing Disney songs very loudly and dramatically. (:

I /wish/ that happened to me. It's always me breaking into song though, then being hit by someone. D:

Haha, every day is like a musical with me. I'll come up with a random song for almost any situation that arises. It helps me brighten my mood with a bit of song and humor and tends to make others around me laugh as well.

My whole family burst randomly into song too. Whether it's something somebody say that reminds me of a lyric, or the song is just stuck in my head. I do it even more now that I know more songs. My mom is really good at knowing theam songs for T.V. shows. I hate it when you or someone else is singing with your/their headphones on and you can't hear what you/they sound like, because your/the're usally off key. And it's not their/your fault you just can't hear yourself.

One time my family was at the beach and there was someone flying a kite. All at once, we all burst into "Let's Go Fly a Kite" from Mary Poppins. It was really funny, and a little surreal. My Mom's the worst, but I tend to do it a lot too. I swear she has songs for everything on Earth. You name it, she has a song, I swear.

XD Me and my friends sing all the time without provocation, or at least make song lyrics into conversation...

Quote:
"I'm so excited!"
"...And you just can't hide it?"
"I'm about to lose control!"
" ;D I think I like it."
Rasputin's song from Anastasia "In The Dark of the Night" and The Prince of Bel-Air are others. Just today, I ended up singing a Phil Cllin's song in Art.
Quote:
"TWO WORLDS, ONE FAAAAAHHHMILLLLYYYYYY! TRUST YOUR HEARRRRRT, LET FATE DECIIIIIIDE, TO GUIDDDE THESE LIVES YOU SEEEEEEEEK!!!"
EDIT: Ehhh, added quotes just in case.

Well, I'm always bursting out into song. All the time.

And then there's the fact that I'm in choir class.

Also, there are quite a few guys that will just burst out into random song. Every day on my way home from school on the bus, my friends Logan and Robert listen to their ipod and sing along with it. Connor will usually just start singing for no reason whatsoever wherever he is. And there are a few other guys that just randomly start singing. It feels as if wherever I go I'm being serenaded (even though none of them are singing to me).

Sometimes, when I'm sitting in the car and staring out the window, a song will start playing in my head, and it would be just perfect. As if I were watching a movie and that music was supposed to go with it.

Oh my, I don't believe that my life has ever quite been like a musical. `laughs`

However I do so love to hum or sing to myself when I'm doing my chores. it helps to pass the time.

Now that you mentioned musical, the song Oklahoma is buzzing through my head. I'm afraid it will be awhile before I'll be able to get it out!

I usually am humming or listening to music, but I also hang out with a good number of actors whom if given a start will burst out in to song and dance.

Working in theatre too can make every day like a musical if we have one going on as every one is singing along to it, or at least humming the music. And even if they are really trying to tune it out they flip on a CD.

Seems like quite a few people have those musical moments! I didn't realize just how much I sing until I wasn't able to. Right now, I'm stuck with a sore throat, and not being able to sing is making me so sad! I worked a few hours today, and my not being able to sing left me so bored. Is it possible to sing too much?

I also remembered that when I walked around on a college campus with a friend, we would both start randomly singing the same songs. It happened sometimes in the car with her and her boyfriend, too. That's what happens when you and your friends all know "Yellow Submarine." You should have seen the looks we got from other people in cars at a stoplight when we did it with the windows down.

I sing a lot. Mostly to fill the uncomfortable silence in my working/living space. Otherwise I haven't carried a tune in a while.. for more than a minute, anyway. Before that, it was drinking songs- and if you like drinking songs while sober... go for it. People will join in.

My life is very much like a musical all the time, but only in my head where no one else can hear it.

>_>.. like right now. There's a musical going on here, you're in it.
