people don't understand :@
people just don't understand that just because someone is in a wheelchair or has an illness that they still have feelings :@
I want to know why people have to act like complete arsholes when someone in a wheelchair goes past them. Usually there is a deeper reason to being in a wheelchair it doesnt mean that that person cant think for themselves or that they have a catchable desease :@ oh it drives me mad :@ |
I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. I have never seen someone treat a person differently just because they are in a wheelchair. I mean, they're exactly the same whether they're in a wheelchair or not. I don't know where you live, but it doesn't seem like a very nice place.

I'm sure most people don't act any different with those in wheelchairs, at least, I've never seen it happening. I think most people are neutral...no?

Everyone I've met personally in a wheelchair have been the most awesome people you could meet. I sang with a little girl in one of my college voice classes who was in a wheelchair. She had more confidence in her voice than anyone in the class, and her voice was powerful even with her small size.

What do you mean people act like A**holes when someone in a wheelchair goes by? How do the act like that? I don't treat people in wheelchairs any differently than anyone else, I might open a door for the person but that's about it. Opening a door for a person just seems like good manners to me. I have never noticed anyone treating people in wheelchairs poorly. There may be a few idiots who do but, they probably treat everyone who's different poorly.

I honestly don't know either why some people treat people differently just because they are in a wheelchair. I know when I was little I use to kind of stare at people who were kind of different like people in wheelchairs but I guess every kid does that sometime in their child hood. But now that im older I dont stare but sometimes when I see them in a wheelchair I feel sorry for them. Then I stop and think they got more challenges then me in my life and they still keep going, it amazes me sometimes :) |
well my friend is currently in a wheelchair as she has trouble walking long distances (anything more than 20 steps really)
I was out shopping with her and these teenagers are all together and start daring each other to touch her and things like that, later on when we moved on they come past giving here horid looks. I completly understand the small children of like 5 because they look and you can see that with their innocence all they are doing is wondering why someone is sitting down and being pushed. my friend would be in her chair being pushed around and people would just shout things such as spastic or walk up to her and ask the person whos pushing her whats wrong with her but as if she cant talk herself. the looks you get is annoying because it hurts but wats worse is how alot of teenagers start laughing and pointing and start a very loud descusion about how she is a spastic or retarted when actually shes not she is one of the most amazing people i have ever met and a damn hell lot smarter than me. people slag her off to her bf saying why go out with someone in a wheelchair and have actually made one of her bf break up with her by saying stuff that is absolutly not true. you may not see it but it does happen and ive been finding it really hard seeing people treat her this way :( |
