what would you have done?
Last Friday I was doing some walking at the town's square when at the distance I saw a shoebox on the floor and suddenly something really (and I mean really) small came out of it and run towards the avenue....I was like O_O when I realized it was a very small kitty....I ran inmediately to rescue it from the cars and saved her from the sudden death....coming back to where she same from I found other two baby kittens in the box.
All of them were starving and crying.... God...I thought why me? ....maybe because God knew I was going to do something...not like the other many people who were walking and saw the box moving or heard the kittens crying... Thing Is I have a very "bad" cat at home, she isnt really bad but was raised like an only child, spoiled to death and she hates any other specie (even kitties) to come home to the point of becoming histerical and attack them...so it wa sa big no the very thought of taking them home to keep them....even they look so adorable... I got desperate and thought what do I do now? I ran home and brought some milk to feed them...they ate like never because they were very thin almost dead... then I took them home (left them in my patio away from the other cat who was already crazy mad) I washed them with cold water, cleaned them all and put them on a new comfortable box with a piece of whoolen cloth... I spent the following 4 days in a time campaign to find a home for them...I even took one of them to a girl who lived like 200kmts away from my house for her to be able to give the kitty a home... the other two were adopted later with a lot of good luck I was able to give them three a home... By Monday I was happy I did my best for them , it took me a lot of effort....also my mom didnt support me at all yelling at me for being so stupid to take them from the street...father same.... I feel I did the right thing,,, discuss what would you have done? |
I think it was great luck (well skill too, but there have to be willing people also) that you found homes for them.
Knowing me, I probably would have kept them and tortured my adult cat (if it had the same sort of personality as yours) just because I don't trust other people to take good care of animals. That's just so crazy that the one made it out of the box and crossed the street. What a little survivor. |
yes poor sweetheart it was all thanks to her that I saw them (I secretely named her Anicity, my nickname hehe)
|
I would have done the same thing. Except I can't keep them for long because I am allergic to cats. I know my mom would love and care for those kitties to death. She loves animals, but can't have animals right now due to money, most of the family being allergic to certain animals, and time(she runs a business).
We would keep them for awhile, but I will probably give them to animal shelter who can care for them and give them homes. Their is a friend I know who might be able to care for them better for me. She loves animals soo much. |
I think you did the right thing, and something few would do. Everyone is so wrapped up in their lives and their world that they have become completely disconnected from nature. So when they see a shoebox of kittens, they don't see tiny lives, they just see an obstacle on the sidewalk. People have grown so cold. I'm glad to see that your heart is not so cold as theirs. ^-^ I would have done the same, even though I am allergic to cats. O.O Lots of medication while I tried to find them homes.

I would have loved my mom to react in a better way really...some parents are.....pfff...

Congrats with the kitties!.
I feel one couldn't just walk away. IF you couldn't take them, I'd have have searched for a rescue online to take them. I mean DO something, not nothing and leave them. You don't deserve to be yelled at, you deserve some praise. |
You remind me a lot like my best friend. She takes in strays but the one problem is she keeps them. She has the room in her home but not enough time adding the fact she has major allergies.
I'm glad that those kittens had a happy ending. I know how difficult it is to push through when people aren't supporting you. You definitely get a bit of muscle after something like that. I would have done the same thing you did. I really wouldn't have done anything differently. You did a very good and noble thing. Which I have to give you props for. Not many people have the patience or caring nature to help dying kittens and then finding homes for each of them. |
Yeah you can't choose your parents.
|
that's such a nice thing to do.. i can't believe some people are cold hearted enough to just walk past them, and not do anything.. it really pisses me off how most people dont even care.. gaah
but yeah, i once saw a box of kittys on the freeway, but no matter what i did, my mom wouldn't go back for them.. i really regret not forcing her to go back, cause i can't help but think that maybe because of me not going back the kitties might have died.. T_T I saved my first cat from death, because the farm i got him from had too many cats, and were gonna kill half of them.. and i got my second cat from an animal shelter ^.^ |
I think what you did was fine. You saved kitties. I would have kept them. I'm a big cat lover. But I don't have a mad cat like you. You did a good deed. Thank you. Now if there was only more people in this world that would do the same.

I would've done the exact same thing! Don't worry about your parents being stupid about it.
You saved them & found them good homes! & That's all that matters <3 I have three cats. 8D Tigger is 14, Nissan is 5, & Weasley is 1. My parents got Tigger from a family friend when she was a kitten. Nissan was born under my brother's first car (hence the name XD). My mom & I had just got home & we noticed the neighbor's cats acting weird around his car. We knew that Baski (nissan's mom) was pregnant. So I look under the car & there she is, having her kittens XD After the first kitten was born, we put them both in a box & took them inside~ Then we took our neighbor a box full of cats when she got home XD Weasley came from my mom's job. There's this parking garage that's next to my mom's building. & There were these cats that lived in there. One of them had kittens. We're not sure what happened, but one day the momma cat & all of her litter disappeared. One kitten got left behind. Someone found him & put him in a box & brought him to my mom at the front desk. No one could take him home. So we ended up keeping him. He was only a couple of weeks old when they found him. & he could fit in one hand! XD BUT yeah. I don't think that he would've lived much longer if that hadn't have happened.. One of my cousins rescues a lot of animals. Not just cats, but like birds & rodents...She saved a litter of kittens, too, a while back :] |
I think it's incredible that you did such a good thing. I'm sure it was very hard to do with your parents not being supportive, which makes it especially admirable in my opinion. I would have done the same thing if I could. My parents have told me no more cats, and if I brought some home, I'm pretty sure they would kick me and the kittens out on the street. Since I know I couldn't keep them, I probably would have tried to find them a home or looked up local no-kill shelters.

*hugs*
Yes; I would have. I found a cat a few months ago and brought it back to my room (not exactly legal here  ) and harassed all of my friends--I called people I haven't seen for two years to try and find a home for him. The only reason I didn't keep him is because I couldn't. (Finally my grandmother decided to take him. She was only reluctant to do so because we already had five other cats. And two dogs.) It would've been nice if your parents had been better about it. But it's after the fact, and seriously--you need to do what's right for you, not them. |
I would have done exactly what you had done Trin, I hate that some don't realize that animals deserve a home as well and shouldn't be left on the street to die. I'm my own rescue organization myself. The area I'm in used to have a lot of stray cats but I took them all in and found homes for them. Now there isn't one stray in the area that I am aware of. -nods-

thanks for the sweet words guys I feel like people understand what I did and yeah screw my parents for not taking the time for being a bit more open hearted
|
Trin~ Your story gave me warm fuzzies. c: I'm glad you were sympathetic to the poor dears and their plight. Now they all have food, warmth, shelter, and love.
My mom hates cats. >.< I would have to call and find someone to take them. |
I think you're awesome for what you did.
But I do understand the fact that people walked by a moving box. There's really no telling what's inside ya know? But I digress... If I would've seen the kitten, I probably would've darted out to save it from cars too. I've done this before, but with an older cat. Now, I do comprehend whether to touch them or not because some animals are aggressive, and sometimes you can't tell if they are or not. And I don't wanna risk myself to an infected bite ya know? But good job though. You should be commended srsly. : o |
Baja would have done the same thing you did. I'd have taken them home, and tried to find good homes for them once they regained their health.
|
I think what you did was really a heroic thing. Also, I believe that even though your parents gave you some grief about it, they also let you do what was needed to take care of the lil kitties. I know that most people do have kind hearts but sometimes it just takes one person to take a step towards doing the right thing. Maybe some of those people saw what you did and next time (and there will be a next time because there are way to many people who mistreat animals) they might be the one to step forward and make a difference.
|
That was exactly the right thing to do. I probably would have kept them, but that's just because I love cats so much. Giving them good homes as quickly as possible was the best thing you could have done. Good job.
