There is a sure fire way out of it. Run at him/her, then throw a punch with your bad hand and when he counters it you can get him while he has no guard with your good hand, hit his ribs. He will most likely have a split second of shock, thats when you bring the pain. Get him in the stomach. Another hit in the face, get a weapon and take him down. If your killer happend's to be Chuck Norris then you beg for your life.

yah most people cant do that like me with a broken arm XD

If I could make it to a phone, I would call the cops. Otherwise, it really depends on the weapon that the killer has. I'd probably go for my favorite knife in the kitchen and use it to disable him or her, maybe tie them up until the cops arrived. I wouldn't try to kill the killer, but I'd try to get them to...not kill me, obviously.
|
i guess at first i will be tempted to hide but that doesn't solve anything cause there's a great chance for him to find you and kill you so i would either call the cops or defend myself, even if that means to kill him i'm sure i'll be doing it to defend myself cause when i'm in danger, i always defend myself, and somethimes i overreact ^^' |
Firstly, I'd never run up the stairs!
It always seems to be the first thing people do in movies, and it's obviously the most stupid thing to do. If you go upstairs, you run out of places to run to, surely the goal is to get out of the house and find help? If it were me, I'd grab the best weapon at hand (hopefully a big knife, but I'd settle for something heavy like a hammer), and I'd run to either the front door, or the big glass double doors in the living room, then I can break them to get out, and also hopefully be seen by a neighbour. |
I have to laugh at the idea of keeping knives and guns hidden next to your bed while you sleep....because when you're ASLEEP, there is nothing stopping any intruder from picking up said weapon and using it on you. Shot with your own gun....what a headline. The best weapons are improvised weapons. Umbrella...fire poker....metal desk lamp, etc.
Cell phone in every room is the best option for anticipation of an intruder, as well as a medical kit. And if you're already in combat with them, well it's actually much harder to shoot someone with a gun than you would think. And getting shot in a limb is not very life threatening. So yeah, taking the gun away from the intruder is the best option (provided you actually know how to do it so you don't go getting shot in the chest when you're a foot away). |
I would go out with a bat I got from thin air (like in all horror movies) and I would start swinging around rapidly, so nothing could touch me. OR I'd tun on all the lights and hide. If the lights were out, I'd probably start breaking windows. Because people would hear that, because apparently a scream isn't loud enough. Maybe I'd hang my head out the broken window and scream... Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

I'd shoot them. I keep my 9mm close, very close. I wouldn't have any second thoughts about killing any intruder. I wouldn't wait and ask what made them break into my house, they should have thought about it. I shoot every week at least so I'm a good shot. Bad for them, good for me.
Then I'd call the cops to pick up a body. |

The point is to get away, not to fight them xP |
Well AFTER my girlfriend ended up injuring herself or breaking something. I'd probably take the bat from her. I would then soundly beat the murderer over the head until his world fades to black. After he was properly subdued or crippled (Hopefully the the former, but most likely the latter) I would yell for my girlfriend to call the cops while I watched over the criminal.

Broken: xD How are they going to find a gun that is hidden?! I mean that is the point of hiding it huh? If they can find it without waking you up and without even having to try maybe you deserve to get robbed... Yeah, never heard of somebody picking up somebodies hidden gun and shooting them. Disarming and then shooting, yes, heard of it. Disagree. What has greater range? A gun or a fire poker? I think the gun. Why does the military use guns, or the police, or anybody use guns for close quarters clearing out buildings instead of a lamp?
The average time for a cop to get to your house is five minutes. Nuff said. Five minutes is a long time when you're in a fight for your life. Call 'em though. I agree with you, I have nice size FAKs throughout the house along with flashlights and yes, firearms. Never bring a knife to a gunfight. They'll shoot you before you can do anything. With my 9mm I shoot three targets, two seconds each, five rounds each, with a four inch chest spread. They'll kill you before you can do anything. What is the biggest part of your body and the most likely they will be shooting at? The chest, wishing that they shoot in the leg is a bad idea. Just shoot them, don't endanger yourself even more. Yes, take the gun away from them. Kill 'em first maybe. I mean I've taken Krav Maga, now I take Muey Thai and Jin Jitsu and I know how to fight. I can disarm and squash but even now I'd rather have a gun then just my firsts. The reason I learn to protect myself is so if I don't have a gun I have a slightly better chance than dying. New Jersey: Yeah... If it were only that simple. Any cop will tell you just to kill them on the spot if you're not trained in detaining people because even when your shot in the leg you still can pull the trigger. Sure the shots will be wild but you can still get shot. Its what they'll teach you to do in any gun class or CHL class. Two to the chest one to the head. They'll teach you that just to maim somebody it takes three rounds to the chest. Hitting a arm, or a leg is a tricky thing to do. I've done it to targets but when your coming around that corner or if they are its a lot easier just to go to the chest. The point is to get you away from danger, if that means you having to take them down... Well, its better than you dying. |
in all honesty.. the killer would probably be me -__-
if not then:: i'd get that big butchers knife we have in the kitchin and also the crow bar we keep in the downstairs toilet, i'm not afraid of being shot or stabbed so bring it on D:< anyhoo i'd hunt him down and butcher him :) tho i'd keep him alive so i don't get arrested xD |

admonished nonsense: Yeah I believe you've taken those since you know how to spell them so well. Kid, I TEACH Krav Maga. I've also run Home Invasion seminars and anyone here who believes that someone who doesn't have experience with a gun is going to 100% hit you in the torso is lacking in the brain department. And the police will NEVER tell you to shoot someone in your home if you don't have to....in most states, if you do anything beyond defend yourself, you will get PROSECUTED. Example: Someone punches you and you block and hit them back. If you then go on to jump on them and beat the crap out of them, let's say their face into the sidewalk, you can now be arrested for assault. Anytime you pass the point of self defense you are now on the other side of the law. As for someone finding your "hidden weapon" it can be as simple as a robber in your bedroom who opens a drawer and finds your handgun. Now let's say you wake up. They panic and have your weapon. You do the math. (And for arguement's sake, that very thing happened to my next door neighbor when I was a child.) |
Panic and do something senseless and useless because that's my greatest fear ever.
I do hope that someone else is in the house. |
LOL if there was a killer in my house, id try to escape my house as fast as i can OR Id try to make it to my kitchen to kill them :insane: um but yeah i really dont want to think that will ever happen :/ |
Broken: That's good. I'm glad you teach it. I'm glad I take it. I go to a place called TCA, Trinity Combat Academy. Everybody, anybody who has been there will tell you, along with every police man I've met, if you can run from a fight. If you can't, then by any way necessary stop them. So that means if a guy comes after you with a knife, hits you and you think, then and there, he has the intention of killing you or hurting you hurt them right back. Personally I'd rather finish a fight, whether it be by stabbing the guy with his own knife, or shooting him and go to court about it then to be set in a morgue in a body bag.
As for robbers, gangsters, etc who rob your house most of them have shot a gun. Even if they aren't good shots how do I know? I'm not going to take the chance, I'm going to shoot him and ask later. You don't know whether this guy plans to come in and rob your house and kill you or not. You don't know this guy so you have to hope for the best and plan for the worst. Its what they've telled me in every class and after I've gotten in some near death experiances I learned something, never trust somebody not to kill you or else you just whipped up a recipe for disaster for yourself. Furthermore I don't like that you are doing home invasion seminars because guns have proven over and over again that they are the best tools for self defense once somebody gets into your house. And, yes they do. I'm not sure what it is like where you live but in Texas anybody who breaks into your house, car, or at work if you kill them you cannot be prosecuted. Because you are the one deciding what to do. I like the law, because a cop who gets there after everything has gone down doesn't know much. For example my Grandmother down in Galveston called the police and said that there was some guy banging on her windows, a druggy probably. The sherrif comes down but the guy had run off. She asks me grandmother if they had a gun. They did, the sherrif loaded it up and said if they guy came into the house to shoot him. Now in my personal opinion I'm not going to take chances at my home. Becuase I have loved ones around me. I'm going to shoot that criminal on sight without asking anything because it is within the law to do so and I am not going to put myself in danger nor the rest of my family because I don't know what that criminal intends. You don't know, don't take a chance. Plus, we're talking about somebody busting into your house not attacking you on the sidewalk. But to answer that I've hurt some people really bad for messing with me. Why? Because I could see that they planned to hurt me so in self defense I did what I did. The police were on my side. You shouldn't say something that contradicts what you've said before. Do the math. How well do you know the guy who coming into the house? Do you know what he is going to do? Do you know what he had planned to do if he saw anybody in the house? No, you haven't. Do the math. He's a criminal, he's inside your house, shoot him. He was the one who decided to break into your house, he should have thought what was going to happen. Furthermore studies have shown that criminals are more afraid of armed homeowner than the cops. Furthermore, keeping it in a drawer far enough away from you to where the guy can randomly pick it out and shoot you is your own damned fault. If a criminal somehow finds my gun I can reach for him before he could take a shot at me. You gotta use your brain. A gun isn't a toy, its made to kill people, where you put it takes a lot of thought and thinking. |
That is truly a fight or flight situation. Whichever reaction takes over would be my action. Either escaping the situation if I was unnoticed, or fighting back if it was too late to run off. It doesn't take a lot of power to take a person down. Having taught kids four to twelve; adults 13 and up self defense, I would not be able to waste all of that energy crying and pleading for my life. If a killer has all of the intention of harming me, I will not worry about harming them in order to protect myself. If I was with other people I would rally those with me to break out of their shock and help take the person down.
My goal is getting away, disarming, rendering the attacker immobile or hindering them is the ideal, but also up to chance as you would be in the moment. Weapons have a 50% chance of being used on the wielder. If it was a situation where I was against a person with a weapon, that weapon is either going to end my life or theirs. My goal would be the latter. Kind of scary to think: Hello knife, meet your owner's kidney. :sarcasm: Whatever happens, the consequence would come after, while in that moment, I can't see me having much thought; Only action, reaction, survival, and getting myself and anyone else to safety. If your life is in danger already, I say fight. Better to open that opportunity of getting out of there than turning belly up. Who gives that person the right to make you the victim. Instead of thinking "why me?" you should think "Why should it be me?!" |
