Have you ever left a website for ages because of RL or random things, then come back to see what was happening and discovered people apparently wanted your items? I got bored tonight, found Menewsha again, and discovered that apparently some of my items in my inventory are worth a lot more gold than they were when I left. What is one supposed to even feel in said situation, since you haven't really been on the site actively enough to be a real oldbie, yet you have more than an average newbie would ever dream of? :sweat: If this happened to you, would you donate to more deserving people, try to become active in the site again, or just go back to the way you were before? Do you have any funny stories about finding out stuff you didn't care about was worth something more to someone else?

haha, yeah. i left a cite and came back and most of the stuff was really valueable.
what i did i sold the stuff i didn't really like/didn't want for my avi and bought the new stuff that i wanted, it was really nice, i could by almost all the new items i wanted. ^-^
(note if you do that go to the market and see if you can by the new stuff for cheaper, thats what i did!X3)

I've not experienced it myself, but I observed one of our users who came back a while ago after only having been active for a few weeks back in March of '07. They came back after maybe 18 months to find the crowns that they paid $2.50 a piece for and could sell in the exchange at the time the princely sum of 250 gold, were now worth 50,000 each xD
I can imagine they had a major :o moment, especially as they had a good amount of them languishing in their inventory. Shame the same can't happen for people in real life!
I suppose I have had that happen on Gaia, but the items that I bought on there when they were comparatively cheap; 20K for a demonic pendant for example, have since peaked and dropped now that Gaia's wrecking its ecomony. But I tend to just sit on stuff anyway. I don't buy things unless I like them. So it's usually justold event items and so on that I'll sell off if I go back to somewhere and find their worth has risen dramatically.

Well, sometimes it can happen on appraisal shows and Ebay. For instance, my Eowyn doll that I bought for $20 is selling for $70+ on Ebay now. Problem is, I only buy stuff I actually care about, and that kind of stuff never happens with the random crap people give me.
I wish I could buy a flower shirt in RL for 150 in real life and have it be worth 2,000,000 later, as happened to me on Zantarni. XD

Yep, I happened to do that with gaia back in 04 and 05, and now I'm just gonna leave the site. XD; Not exciting anymore to me, it's time to move on.
I also did that with mene and I'm back and active on the site. :)

This is actually my 'one mule' account, which I made only recently. But yeah, this did happen to me! I found the site a few months after it began. It still had the card flip that you could bet on (apparently rigged, too), and a beta version of a fishing game. Apparently, though, there was a glitch that was being exploited by the fishing game... and so the staff literally gave everyone a large some of gold. I can't remember how much it was, a thousand or something? To make up for it. I bought myself a whole outfit.
This spring I came back and found a Yumeh hair pin in my inventory, for being one of the first however many users on the site. I actually had a few people ask where I got the item and I just didn't know... I had to go look that information up myself! I was happy. ^^

I sold my mythrill halo for 130K too xD I never liked the thing, so I was glad to be rid of it and make a bit of money on it.

The Mythril Halos are 130k now?! o_O;;
*has a few from doing commissions*
Woah. @ [email protected];;
They were only around 30k when I stopped being active. xDD;;
Okay, back to the topic. xDD;; It's never happened to me before, since I only join avatar communities when I really want to stay on (hence why I've only joined two in my life xDD). Although, having left Gaia, kind of, I have no idea how much stuff are worth now. ^^;; Maybe I should check and get back to this once I have. 8DD;;

On Zantarni, I remember working HARD to get a flower shirt (or was it a heart shirt?) before they took them out of the stores. I come back months later to see that wow...they're super expensive now. oAo Buhbuh I worked so hard to get it back then...I'd never sell it~
