My mom wouldn't allow ouija boards in the house either, we made one out of paper and yup, it worked, we used a clear shot glass at the planchette (the thing you put your finger on). Mom my came home and was sooo pissed!


Parker brothers didn't invent the ouija board, before that they were called spirit boards and were really popular in the 20's, they actually date all the way back to King Solomon who was said to be the first to use one, given to him by God to help him control the jinn (evil spirits) as it is said in the Qur’an, though wikipedia states that the first incarnation of the spirit board was in China, 1200 B.C., but that was closer to auto writing. I've read several places that one should never, ever play it alone because the spirits of the board will try to gain your trust to control you. I don't know if I believe any of it, but it's sure interesting to read about.

I'm a big dork that reads too much and was fascinated by them (of course after I was told to stay away from them.)

Oh, and I was told that if you burn it it sets the spirit of the board free in your house, that it must be buried to safely get rid of it.

I've never even seen an Ouija board before. Closest thing I've seen was Yami Bakura's Ouija board card in Yu-Gi-Oh! ._.;

While I do believe in ghosts due to personal experience, I would never go 'ghost hunting'. Ghosts and spirits have their privacies too and I don't think anyone would enjoy having a bunch of people gawking at them, thinking that by seeing them, it's some kind of exciting sport. (not including show-off ghosts who enjoy the attention...)

I don't see much of a problem so long as they don't overstay their welcome. Most ghosts, I find, want to be heard, or have a message they want us to hear. Even if we don't understand it. As long as you just poke in "oh there's ghosts here..." ask them a few questions and leave then I think they'd be fine. Besides, I'm sure the ghosts understand that this is something we're not used to. And something that we want to discover. ^^;

Because people at that place think its a toy board game..

I think the only way for them to take it off the shelves is if you call 1800 Toys r us, so that they can take it off the shelves say that it was dangerous or something and they will make it a recall item an have all the toys r us stores in the world take it off the shelves.. haha if there was something to say about it of course.
Say like they choked on the board or they poked their eye with that pointer thing. Something that will make toys r us take the product off the shelves.

Only problem with that is that you would need doctors papers to do anything about it. If someone was hurt they'd want proof. -.-

I... believe in spirits and such, and ghosts. I could talk your ear off about the things I've seen, but when you're hyper-sensitive to the "other side" that kind of comes along with the territory.

A lot of ghosts won't actually notice you if you're where they are. (This is all from my personal experience and beliefs of course, you don't have to take my word for fact! :3 ) Ethereal beings, which a lot of people will call ghosts, on the other hand, can be very irritable and really people should just leave them alone unless they know what they're dealing with. I saw my six-foot-something friend get knocked over (thrown over was more like it ...) from a none-too-happy entity when we were investigating what we call a "rip." Interestingly enough, a couple of our friends who were to afraid to come with us and waited away from the area said they heard a gigantic boom around the time it happened (when we were crossing out of the threshold of the rip).

He and I however, heard nothing. But then he was busy half-passing out, so.

You know. If you've seen alot, get strange dreams, or have other interesting 'powers'. In my beliefs, I have the ability to touch-know on stone only. Which helps with Reiki healing and such. Basically, it's the ability to feel what's in a stone. Stones have life and each one has an energy and I can feel what the energy is. Aside from this, I get messages, dreams, premonitions, I see things, hear things, ect... There are cases of people becoming more sensitive with age, but hypersensitivity usually comes from when you're born. I'm hypersensitive. I know when there's something near me, when something's watching me, or in the room. I can hear them talking to me, I've had disturbing premonitions of my grandmother dying, my mother getting cancer, my pets dying, and they've all come true in a very short amount of time. The 'hyper sensitive' know when they are hypersensitive.
Another good example is, in my first post on this thread, I mentioned going to Craig house, and the minute I step on the property, my legs get weak and I feel ill. that's part of the hypersensitivity and it's also a part of the ability to feel stone, since, the pavement is stone. I could speak volumes about it, but I think you get the idea.

Like I said, you'd probably know if you were. It's not really something you don't notice... I can't think of a way you could even find out...

Well I dont know because its gonna be my first time even going to a real haunted place so when Im there in the asylum you think id be able to find out then?

Probably. Pay attention to how your body feels. If there's a strange sensation when you touch the walls or something. If you 'think' you saw something out of the corner of you eye, you probably did. If you 'thought' you heard someone talking down the hall, you probably did. If you have a bad feeling about going into a room- listen to that feeling. If you're drawn to one room, be on your guard. Upset spirits tend to want to lure you in. But it might be something completely different.

I'm with Ari on this one. It's hard to not notice. I've known pretty much my whole life that I was "different" because of that. If you are, you'll know when you get to that place, yes. Hearing or seeing things that others don't, as well as extreme ... "feelings" or emotions, flashes of memories, oddly familiar scents, etc. A lot of people manifest in different ways.

I want to go hunting so much! But nothing around here is haunted, it's a shame really.
I'm hoping one day to take a ghost vacation and go see some awesome haunted and spiritual places!

O.o why is everyone's talking about asylums in this thread? xD Seems that's the only kind of place worth going to! My old house was haunted, and so was my friend's old house. My folks house is haunted by a little girl whose father killed her and her mother, and this house has a ghost in the hallway that likes to cry at night, open the dryer door, and unplug the router. -.-
