I poisoned my child last night O,o
Jacob woke up last night with pains in his legs. I chalked it up to growing pains and as I had some generic aspirin right there I gave him one and had him go back to sleep. At 3am he woke up in a sweat, vomiting and with a fever of 100.1. I gave him something for the fever and sent him back to bed. He slept through the night but was still sick this morning. The fever was down a little but with the swine flu going around I thought I should take him in. Turns out the aspirin I gave him had acetaminophen in it and it poisoned him. I felt like such an ass. He missed his last day of first grade and was crying because he couldn't say goodbye to his friends. Hopefully I'll never do something like that again. So, anyone else ever do something they thought was helpful that ended terribly?
(By the way, it's all out of his system now and he's doing just fine.) |
I didn't realize that acetaminophen could be poisonous without an overdose. o.o;;

Well, my cousin had a huge crush on this girl I was best friends with in high school. She always blew him off and eventually started to like him. He ended up telling me to hook him up with her and that's what I did. Well, it ended 3 years later... horridly I might add. They barely even talk now even though they have a child together. I feel bad for putting my cousin through that though, because this girl is completely not right for him and she has a habit of cheating. I wasn't thinking of it like that then though, I was thinking 'cool, my favorite cousin and my best friend are dating.' I will never play match maker again. Let's just say that she ended up cheating on him on christmas eve! Then she tried to lie about it, even though she was caught in the act. She even lied to me about it too. After they broke up she kept telling me that she didn't know why he left her!

Wow, that must suck Neurotic Cupcake. I wouldn't let it bother you though. It was their choices that led them to where they are now. |
Awww, I'm sorry.
On the last day of my first grade, I had to wear a red graduation gown and sing "I believe I can fly". . . It's good that Jacob's doing better. I have a horrible memory, so I can't really remember if I've done something to someone. However, I do remember something about my mom giving me penicillin, but I was allergic to it and ended up in the emergency room. /: |
I don't trust medicine, especially generic medicine. I stay away from medicine unless I must take it to live on. I believe the body can heal itself, and it was built for that purpose.
|
I tend to forgo medicine unless it is necessary, but when your child is in pain you tend to panic at least a little, even if you know the cause and that it's not life threatening at all.

My boyfriend will rarely, if ever, take medicine. I have an entirely different philosophy on the matter. xD

In the UK you don't even "graduate" secondary school. (High school equivalent) You just "leave". We have "leavers' day". |

We don't have any kind of ceremony. Just a day of pranks and dressing up, then national exams in June, then a ball. Nothing to do with education, because we don't get our exam results until August. Grades (and university places) rest on the exams. |

I only take advil for toothaches, or really bad headaches or cramps. I feel pain is there for a reason, and that it's there to tell you that your body is stressed and it shouldn't be ignored. And for simple, basic things like a cold, your body should heal itself and you shouldn't have to take meds for it. On a side note, I recently, secretly took myself off my bipolar pills, and I am so glad I did, I feel so much better now. lol |
Wow, I didn't realise Aspirin ever contained anything other than just Aspirin, none I've ever bought do, apart from a bit of maize starch to glue them together. Maybe the extras are just another US oddity, along with graduation xD

I only ever buy generic xD No way I'm paying for a brand name as they're a complete rip off, a little pot of 16 aspirin costs 25p, and box of brand name aspirin is probably 4 times that, crazy o.o Generic Ibuprofen, 36p for 16, Box of 16 Nurofen on the other hand...£1.97 : /
|
Well we found out that I was allergic to codine when I had my wisdom teeth removed. Vomitted seven times in a day and ripped out all of my stitches. I was so sick I couldn't even take my pain pills and keep them down.
|
Codeine makes a lot of people sick, me included =_= It's nasty stuff.

;B I know that first hand. |
Yeah? Not had any kind of problems like that in the UK.
|
 I -always- buy generic, and I have never had an issue. Plus, ibuprofen is expensive normally! You can pay half price for the same amount by buying generic. I always take three of them anyway, so regardless of the amount of drug in the ibuprofen, I'm still getting headache relief. XP
I'm on generic birth control too, and still, no problems. And all the other drugs I get from the doctor are generic -- antibiotics, antifungals... the whole nine yards. I can't afford anything more expensive with my insurance. Who wants to pay $60 for BC pills!? O_O I know for a fact that they're not that expensive. My old gyno used to hand out non-generic samples like candy, and in college I could get non-generic for $10. So there was no way I was going to shell out 6x as much. |
Where those studies made by an impartial body, or the companies producing the expensive brand name pain killers, I wonder...
|
Yeah, you can never trust the drug companies... NEVER.
I've always heard that though generic may differ slightly, they're pretty much the same thing. |
Probably because they're made by the same manufacturer. Just the same as the chicken you buy from the supermarket, bog-standard pain killers will all come off the same production line and just go into different packaging depending on who they're supplying.

I told my bisexual friend to tell our other friend she liked her ( at the time, sandy wanted to tell jessy) Sandy did it, Jessy snubbed her and was all " YER GAY o-o NASTY" Sandy went into a spiraling depression and tried to kill herself...>-> Yeah..I felt really bad.
