Starting college this Fall? =o

Hewo everyone!

Haven't seen a college thread, so I figured I might try to start one!

Some questions I have:
Who's starting college this year?! =o
Where are ya going?
What laptop are you bringing?! o.o (I'm trying to pick...)
Majors/Minors?!

Oh, yeah, and have you met your room-mate yet? =) I just recently did that. xD

Otherwise, people already in college, or still in high school, feel free to just chat! ^^

*puts out a plate of cookies* (yes, i bribe -.-)

I started college two years ago, but I'll still answer the questions.
I go to Digipen Institute of Technology to attempt a BFA in Production Animation for games as film.
I have an older laptop, a Dell Latititude D830, But it's a great computer and will probably last me until I have a job and money to buy a new one. :D
I live in an apartment complex because my school doesn't have dorms. And I share a 2 bedroom 2 bath with my boyfriend and his brother. This is my 4th apartment/roommate change since the beginning of college.

I'm starting university in the fall! I'm going to Memorial University of Newfoundland, and I'm living with my aunt since she lives like two seconds away from campus. I'm majoring in History and minoring in Russian, but I'll probably change that eventually. XDD

I'm bringing a Macbook Pro, I'm ordering it in two weeks. ;D

And I don't have a roommate, I just gotta help pay for the utilities and food and stuff.

I'll be going for my third / final year this fall. My major is Digital Media. I'm gonna miss it to be honest. I can't even believe how fast my college life has gone. I remember being a High School Freshman not too long ago. Growing up kind of scares me. :/ I wish I could go back in time and live my childhood memories again.

Vercingetorix 07-20-2009 02:27 AM

ME!
I actually started the summer session at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
I have a Dell Inspiron and saving for a mac.
Major= Game art n design.

I'll be a senior in high school next year, so I'm currently looking at colleges all over the place. ;D I've already looked at Loyola in Maryland, Gettysburg College, and Washington College in Chestertown, MD. I need to go look at St. Mary's College in St. Mary's City, MD, Lafayette College in PA and some other ones... I want to major in Psychology and minor in Chinese, but my major is likely to change because there isn't much I can do with psych and chinese. I've already taken three years of Chinese, so I'm hoping to continue that. ;D

I am just about to finish up my first year, I go to a year round private college and my degree stuff is done in three instead of four years.
Quote:

Where are ya going?
Well I'm already there ;p

Quote:

What laptop are you bringing?! o.o (I'm trying to pick...)
I got a 15inch Mac Book Pro (the one before they released the new models) Some say Macs aren't good...but I love my Mac, but I would suggest an Intel Mac so you can put any Operating System on there if your technical. ...though my next Laptop I'm hoping to get is a little Lenovo Net Book of the sort or an Eee PC something of the sort...though the choice in Laptops is really up to you...I mean some people do like Dells, Alien Ware..or me I went Mac it really just depends..though my reasoning for getting my Mac is I was originally in an Audio Degree/ Design stuff so I got one with that in mind.
Quote:

Majors/Minors?!
It's what your interested in doing the rest of your life Xp...like I said in the answer before I was Audio/Design..and what not but I got into Robotics and Embedded systems and I don't think I could be happier in my choice...though if your taking a Minor ...be ready for the work load...I don't know if I could do a Minor ...but eh it's up to the person getting the degree.

Oh, yeah, and have you met your room-mate yet? =) I just recently did that. xD
I know my old Roommate but they didn't move in during Move in ...so I got a different roommate then a different one my last semester ...and all I can say is I have been shafted twice...so it's really a Roulette for roommates...get to know them well I ended up with an Opposite...and just well I don't really need to get into the other >.> just happy to be moving out...it's sad though I Dorms are Conveinient very handy...

and there you go..hopefully I helped a little if not I hope your day has gone well? =3

Second year freshman going to Kutztown University with my Dell Latitude D531 and I am sooo undeclared. My roommate, assuming I'm going to be able to live on campus now, is my best friend.

:Takes cookie:

Well, we have no fall here in the Philippines, and I'm not a freshman in college anymore, but I felt like answering this, since there seems to be a lack of Asians around here. xDD;;

I'm in my 2nd year of university now, studying BA Journalism at the national university in our country. :3 I plan on minoring in either Psychology or Economics, and might even possibly take up my masters in Law (still terribly unsure about this for now, but hey, it's still at least two years away xDD).

I have a 15 inch Macbook Pro (around 2 years old), but she's upgraded in terms of software, so I don't care. xDD;; Can't survive Mass Communication without a laptop after all, so I'm terribly dependent on my baby for my projects. =P

As for roommates, my house is around 15-30 minutes away from campus, so I don't feel the need to rent a dorm and stuff. xDD;; I do have a pseudo-dorm though, as my friend owns an apartment 5 minutes away from campus, and my friends and I all use it as our "home away from home", so to speak. ^^;;

I'll be starting university in September, hopefully up in Chester (im English), and i'll be taking BSc Animal Behaviour. As far as i'm aware we don't have majors and minors.
I'm saving for a laptop at the minute, and i picked out one that's got my favour, but i forget what it is.
I'll be living with five other people, in a house, if i get the accommodation i want. As somebody who isn't people confident, i'm not looking forward to meeting them, yet hoping i'm dramatizing it, and that i'll get along fine with them.
I'm grossly under prepared for living away from home i think. It'll hit me on results day...Hopefully inspiration will strike and i'll be good at life too. XD

Heyya! I'm starting college in the fall as well! I'll be going to Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas and majoring in Mass Communications. I'm bringing my Dell inspiron. I know next to nothing about computers. I just liked it because it is green. I've had it since December and no complaints so far!

For my room mate I did potluck and I think it's gonna be a good match. We've talked on facebook and stuff and she seems totally cool. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Kris 07-20-2009 06:00 PM

I'm going to high school on a college campus, and I'm taking my first college class (not AP, a real one ^w^ ) this year. (:

I suppose whether or not that would count, but I figure I'd mention it. XD I'm very excited.

Thoth Star 07-20-2009 06:26 PM

Actually, I've been in college for 2 yrs now...
I'm still in community college because my major is surgical tech and there's a lot of general ed I need to take before I can transfer to medical school. No, I don't bring my laptop to school. I like to write stuff in my notebook... Umm, same room mate. I NEVER live in college dorms because those are always super small, overpriced and you don't get to pick who you live with which is like essential to me. I don't want to live with an asshole. Hellz no.

JeSsIcAtMeOwW 07-20-2009 07:37 PM

Hehe, lots of diff places!! ^^

I'm going to a tiny tiny university called Rockhurst (In Missouri) this Fall! =) I can't WAIT! The incoming Freshman are all going to a park this weekend and I'm so excited! =D

I met my room mate a lil while ago, and she's sooo nice and awesome! (Except she's a neat freak and I'm more than a little messy! >.<)

I'm excited and nervous and more excited and totally forgetting about the actual "school" part! =) I've heard all about college from adults/siblings/cousins/people at my work/etcetcetc, and I can't wait!!!!! <3

I don't have a single class before 9:30 (which is still really early for me x.x) but way better than 8 AM! =D And I'm going to get a job on campus and join some clubs! GOSH, I wish this month would just zooooom by so I could move in to my dorm already!! =)

*falls over* X.X Too much excitement....

Ananas à Pois 07-21-2009 01:13 AM

I'm going to be a freshman this Fall. I'm majoring in Psychology (as of right now, I think...) at Worcester State. I don't know what laptop to get yet, because we have to chose for a list and I don't really get to chose which one I get. >w< Ugh, right? Lol.

I don't get to experience dorm life yet because my grandmother (whom I live with) doesn't want me to go to far away... Like thirty minutes is so far away, right? Dx So, my roommates are the same as they have been the past two years- my family. xP

Leafless Grace 07-21-2009 02:09 AM

I'm going to major in physics. My minors either going to be computer science or art. I'm going to go the Brook Haven community college in Dallas, Texas and I'm planning on transferring to UT Austin next fall.

I'm going to be working part time and staying with my family as well. I've already taken a few college classes and most people used notebooks, so I'm just going to write my notes while using my laptop for class projects.

angelictraces 07-23-2009 12:21 AM

Wow, I feel old...

I'm going into my third year of college this fall, double majoring in Biology and Theatre with a minor in Dance.

When I started school I had an HP (bad idea the things are programmed to fail). It died after my first year and I got a new Toshiba Satellite, great computer, won't let you down. Toshibas are notoriously good laptops, I've never known anyone to have a problem with one. Unless they were dumb... but yeah. If you're doing alot of art, Macs are good but they are so overpriced. You don't get the processing power for your buck but like I said they are awesome for art.
