Okay, that's not true. Some are pretty nice... However, I have not had good experience with them.

My entire life--save for the last year--I have lived in apartments. The rent is always ridiculous for the size/quality of the apartment and the managers are shady people. They always seem so nice when you're looking, but then things start getting weird in your apartment and they start ignoring you and peg you as the crazy lady (or man :3) that complains to much.

So the apartment I moved into about... eh two to three months ago is beautiful. Two bedrooms, a large walk through bathroom (it connects from the master bedroom and the hallway), a walk through kitchen, fire place, and pet friendly.

Oh, the things you never notice on your first spin through.

There is no trim at the bottom of the walls where it meets the carpet, the washer was constantly over flooding, and the stove and counters are all scratched up. That was fine, we can fix that up on our own.

What really gets me, is the bugs. Now, my mother and I keep a very clean house. We don't leave food out, we vacuum every two three days, our cats' food dishes are put away when they're not eating.

The first bugs we noticed were just dead spiders here and there; gross but we can clean them up. Then we started noticing these bugs that look like potato bugs, only flat. They kept turning up dead on our carpet and in the crack between the walls and the carpet (where the walls lack trim). So we got the apartment sprayed.

The bugs seemed to go away for about two days before coming back.

It also appears that we have ants like mad--in the bathroom and underneath the dining room floor where it connects to the kitchen.

What I'd like to know is why nasty things keep popping up in our bathroom. First there was this long, reddish Centipede. And this morning, there was a small salamander type thing. It was very cute, but we know it didn't come through the front door. The bathroom is on the opposite side of the house and we have cats that would be meowing and playing with it on it's way through.

Well... I can't really say it was nasty, but the place was definitely haunted! I'm a firm believer in the super-natural (Ghosts I suppose)... Anyways, I remember as a child, that there would be shadows appearing in the corner of my eyes... and when I look there was nothing there... I was so terrified of the house that I sat outside by myself because my mom worked all day as well as my dad so I was by myself most of the time...
Quote:
Why you avoid apartments
I avoid apartments because I don't exactly know anyone who lives in one... All my family lives in homes... (Except my bad side of the family that all lives in a home together with like ten people...)
Quote:
Why you like apartments
I like them because they seem really secluded... Like what are the odds of a nice apartment getting robbed versus a home... If that makes sense to you ^^"
Quote:
Cute salamander things
I don't know... All salamander's seem gross to me...
Quote:
Gross bug experiences
Ew, one time I was in our garage trying to find a monkey wrench and I found a Black widow on the shelf like five feet in front of me... of course I screamed like a little girl and ran... away... <.<
Quote:
Cats
I don't have cats... My neighbor does but whenever I'm around them my eyes water up because I'm allergic... Such a horid thing... Why must cute cats be so dangerous to me! T_T

Shady managers
Um... I know of none... XD

That sounds so scary. D; I believe in the supernatural, but I honestly haven't had very much exposure to it personally. Though, my mother believed that there were demons in this one apartment we lived in. I would think she was crazy if a priest hadn't come to take a look and confirmed it. She claimed to see a man--walking around our apartment-- who looked as if he was wearing a large trench coat and hat, but he looked like he was made of shadows. My mom's friend's and my brother also so this "man" though. And thirteen years later a friend she made last year told her about seeing a similar man.

Wow I'm actually getting sorta creeped out talking about this. I'm home alone right now. D;

I usually don't have too many problems living in apartments. In fact I am looking for a new one now. I have had some really horrid landlords though. The place I live now is too small, but I needed a roof over my head, and my landlady is pretty cool. I did like it best when I owned my own house. The government claimed imminent domain and stole my house from me, but that is a different story, lol.

Aw I'm Sorry. Don't feel too creeped out... Our house was supposedly the place where a widow hung herself several years earlier before we moved in... It was in a nice neighborhood though... I was so scared to go into our attic when we lived there! Because I always heard these popping noises coming from it at night... But I eventually got used to it.

Well, I'm not so creeped out anymore. My cat Harry came and jumped in my lap. ^^ And wow! It would be interesting to stay in your house for a night. It sounds so scary. I'm such a wimp. CX But I love haunted house stories/movies.

I don't sleep well in houses other than my own. I get really scared. >////> Except my step-mom's house because my step sisters are amazing and we usually have cuddle puddles on the living room floor. xD lol don't ask.

The only source of heat in my step-mom's house is this wood stove thing living room. So when we have friends over there at night, we all just sleep on the floor together. Sorta like a big ol' party, only on the floor and sleeping.... >>

I was just out with my friend looking for apartments and houses to rent the other week. So many gross places! One house we looked at looked so nice on the outside, but when we opened the door, we were met with the overwhelming smell of cat pee. The only bathroom in the house was tiny and dingy. There were dead roaches on the floor. The windowsills were covered with dead spiders. And the price for the place was ridiculous considering it was unfurnished, included no utilities, and frankly was not in a good looking neighborhood. Heck, my parents are renting out a house that's 2 bed/bath, furnished, clean, and on the river for the same monthly price they were asking for that hideous place. If only that house was closer to my school...

I've only lived in an apartment twice. The first time, I was eleven. My mom had moved out and gotten an apartment. I guess it was a really upscale apartment, it was really really nice. There was an internet cafe on the first floor and a huge parking garage and a fake fireplace (I guess that's what that is called? The ones that you turn on with a switch and they light up and emit heat. xD) in every room. That was really nice, but I'm sure that most apartments are not like that. The second time, I was living in an apartment in China last year. While the outside of the apartment and the stairs and such were really dirty and unkept, the inside was cozy and clean and lovely. C: I especially enjoyed having my room open to a balcony where laundry was hung. I could leave the door open and hear the sounds of the alleys and people. In regards to the bugs thing, I get lots of bugs in my house now. :C We spray a lot for ants, but they keep coming back. I think the most recent thing we have done is working pretty well. I don't understand why ants like to live in my bathroom, there isn't any food there. I understand the kitchen thing, but the bathroom?! Oh well, I'm glad they're gone for right now, I hate ants. Eventually, I'll probably live in an apartment again, once I start out on my own after college, but I don't really mind, as long as it's not in a sketchy area or whatever. It doesn't really matter to me, I'll get through it somehow. C:

I live in an apartment. One time, I found a roach. Luckily, my brother killed it and it was a sign that I had to clean up my room. None have come back to my room, thankfully, but I'm still scared to be in my room at night. :(

I don't really have much experience with apartments. x3

We used to live in one when I was really young. I don't remember it much, but I think it was a pretty decent place. My dad also lived in one when he first moved out.. it wasn't great, but there also really wasn't anything wrong with it. Nothing was falling apart any more than they will in any house.
My friend used to live in this really nice apartment that I absolutely loved. It was a two bedroom, really airy and well lit... it was so nice in there. Unfortunately, they only lived there for about six months because they couldn't afford it. xD

In my brother's apartment, he has black mould. It is sooo gross. I went there, and I walked into his bathroom and said, "Jeez, your bathroom stinks!"
It turned out that it was black mould, he just found out yesterday. So he had to come to our house and get some of these wonky masks to protect him from inhaling the mould as he helps to clean it all out. Yucky!

Ugh, that's terrible. I'm lucky to have lived in a house all my life, I've never lived in an apartment. I never want to live in one. I hate the idea of not actually owning the place you live in and having neighbors on the other side of your wall. It sucks though because since I refuse to live in an apartment, I'm stuck with my parents until I have enough money for a house, and with my job only being part time, it's going to take a long time. And I can't stand bugs being inside. We have a guy come and spray the house about twice a year for bugs. It helps some, but there's still some that manage to survive. And the lizard is cute. I like lizards. But again, not inside. XD There was one in my house just a couple of days ago, and my cat found it. He carried it into the kitchen with it's tail hanging out of his mouth. I screamed and he spit it out and kept playing and messing with it, and picking it up in his mouth again. I finally managed to get him away from it and we put the lizard outside. It's pretty gross when he eats them. x_x

I've never lived in an apartment.
I've lived in city homes, and one mobile home.
I'm in the mobile home currently.
We have bugs because we live out in the middle of the forest.
Buuuut we clean a whole bunch and have exterminators come through once a month.

I've also been living in an apartment my whole life.
Our old one was very clean, but the neighbours weren't, and their cockroaches would also come into our apartment. FUUUCK I became really terrified of walking around at night. I would have to wake my little sister up to accompany me. ;___;
The kids were awful little bastards as well. Eughhhh I just hated that place.
Our newer one is nice, a cute little lemon tree and all. But the gardener is a pedophilic bastard and yells at us, and the neighbourhood kids think they're gangsters, so they go around being annoying and drawing penises ((with chalk, of all things)) in the driveway.
