Oh my god I'm going craaaazy! The internet is the only place I can actually TALK right now! I'm so very tempted to get a small whiteboard and a marker and just carry it around with me the next couple of days.

See, I just got my tongue pierced today...So it hurts like a bee with an itch! ^_^ If I talk for longer than about 5 seconds, it starts really hurting, and it usually cuts me off mid-sentence. I'm really not good at using hand motions are signals to get people to understand me xD

Have any of you been in a frustrating situation like this, where you had to make up a different way to communicate? I really think I might find a whiteboard and use it for a while. Or take a five minute sign language class...Only, nobody I know knows sign language, sooo. Poot.

Well, when I pretty much almost cut my tongue off when I was 13 and playing football, after the doctors did stuff to fix it, I just carried a pad and pen around and used that to communicate.

Is your tongue okay now? What happened? That sounds awful! Yeesh...Good thing I didn't hear about that earlier today, I might've been more hesitant to stick a rod through my tongue! o.o

Oh dear god, Isato that sounds way too painful ; n;

well you could get a piece of paper and a pen cause thats what i do when i cant talk. Or you could just talk without your tounge which is really hard to do.:insane:

Yeah, my tongue is fine now. Well, I was at practice back when I played small fry football and it was one of those days where our coach decided to let up have fun, so we played touch football.

Well, I caught the ball and went to score, and some kid tackled me and when I hit the ground, I bit down on my tongue. D:

Personally I think it's really stupid to get your tongue pierced (Sorry! I didn't mean it like you were stupid) Some dude i know got his tongue pierced and couldn't talk for months. Anyway, maybe you should just not talk and get people really annoyed :XD Or a whiteboard...you know, that works too....:XD

Aww. That sounds so horrible! I'm glad it's okay now, though. Not to sound nosy, but does it still work like a normal tongue? Like, can you still move it around, and tasting still works the same? Sorry if I sound intrusive, or insensitive, I don't mean to be D:

And Little Miss: Oh don't worry, no offense taken! ^^ I've read lots of opinions on tongue rings, and so I'm prepared for peoples negative opinions. He couldn't talk for months? That's horrible...I really hope that doesn't happen to me o.o'

Terra: It does xD It was really sore when I woke up from my nap. I swished peroxide and listerine mouth rinse and have drank a lot of icy water, and it actually feels alright at the moment. Hopefully in a week it'll feel no pain at all!

Yeah, it works fine. Couldn't do much with it for awhile. I do have an area with no tastebuds though, but it's small..

Though, I did have to teach myself how to roll my tongue again.

Can't roll my tongue, but i can fold it without using my teeth or the roof of my mouth :D I think that's pretty spiffy

I think rolling one's tongue has something to do with genes...if you don't have the genes for it, you wouldn't be able to roll it. @[email protected]

*winces at Isato's part of biting his tongue* That sounds really, really painful...I cut my hand once and I didn't feel the pain at first either until I was at the hostpital and they were stitching it up...

The only time when I couldn't speak was when I had a really bad cold/flu back when I was in elementary school...I coughed a lot and even my coughs were mostly soundless because my throat was all bloated and restricting my vocal cords. I had to do a lot of miming and loud raspy whispering that day >_>;

In middle school i had to get an expander put into the roof of my mouth because it was too narrow for all my teeth. It's basically took up the entire roof of my mouth so it was just about impossible to talk when I first got it in. I think I just brought in a note and didn't speak much at all.

Well when I had my tonsils removed I could not talk. I used a spiral notebook and a pen to talk. I also couldn't talk when I had mono and tonsillitis. I would just use a good old notebook and pen. Then I'd hold it up so whomever I was talking to could read it. It got me through all of it. I hate not being able to talk. It's just no fun when you can't say what you're thinking.
