My family and one of my friends went down to this park near our house to walk around in the river. Out dogs loved it!! well we were getting ready to leave when suddenly this tiny black kitten came running out of the bushes over to our car meowing like crazy. Probably only aroud 6 to 7 weeks old. Me and my friend fell in love with it on the spot. My mom usually doesn't like taking in strays. Another kitten a few days earlier was brought to our doorstep (of course i fell in love with that one too) but my mom said no. But this time she knew she couldn't leave it alone. We put her in our car and drove back to the house, gave her some tuna which she really needed, she was real skinny.
"she's so cute and alll alone!! can we keep her!?" I asked while watching her eat.
"no you already have two cats" my mom replied
"but i'll take care of it, it could be our barn cat!"
My friend wanted to take it but she knew her mom would say no, so today we'll be taking it to the pound T-T I know she will get a loveing home there but I'm still gonna miss her. She stayed by her self in the barn all night, in the morning i went to check on her. She was purring, meowing and rubbing up against me like crazy. (i know you shouldn't get attatched to them :( but its soo adorable!!!) she's so tiny, still a bit skinny but she gobbled up the tuna. Loves to be petted :3
I'm just hoping who ever takes her gives her all the love and care she needs.

Edit: I may actually be able to keep her :o!! none of our friends or neighboors will take her, and the shelters near us (thankfully do not euthanize) wont accept any more animals until september. So she will be our barn cat for a while ( that is if she stays the week until we get back), and one of my friends said that he may be able to take her next year (mom's really allergic to cats) :D and theres a possible owner in another of my friends family.

So has anyone rescued any animals lately? Did you keep them or send them to the pound to find another loving family?

Aw, that was sweet of you to feed her. <3 A shame you couldn't keep her though.
I have a couple of cat rescues;
Although I wasn't born yet, my father rescued my late cat Ziggy when he was extremely young, probably 5 to 6 weeks old, all full of bugs. He was also about to be attacked by hungry crows. He was the last survivor of the litter, my father's friend found the rest of the dead kittens on his boat (the mother seemed to have abandoned her kittens). Ziggy lasted a good eighteen years and the sweetest little cat to ever lived. <3
Just about over a year ago, my neighbors gave us their cat Angel because the step-father was allergic and hated animals. But the thing is they kept her in the shed (the kids would sometimes take her to their room). I think she was mentally scarred, she's a little frinky and usually hides in the dark, but she's sweet (not to other cats, though XD)
And finally, we recently found a kitten (maybe almost a year old) in April and named him Bonkers. We have no idea where he came from, but we thought he might have an owner (but then again he isn't neuteured and the fact that he was skinny to the bone when we found him). Bonkers hangs around our house most of the time and we keep him in our extra room in the backyard to feed him and give him shelter. He's sort of wild, I guess, but he's really human friendly.
And that's basically it. : D

Awww. I dont like how people abandon pets or keep them in bad conditions, if your gonna have a pet take care of it properly!
I bet all those cats were very thankful you took them in ^_^ and gave them a nice home.
If i didn't have two cats already I'm sure the little kitten(my friend said we should call her luna ) could stay with us.
My aunt probably would have taken her but she has two cats as well and probably doesn't want it to end up like the last stray. This tiger cat we called Snooky bear wondered on to our property and hung around all the time like it was a pet. Everyone liked it, followed you everywhere, unfortunately one day my uncle kind of ran it over with his trakter one day when he was plowing the garden. T^T

Aw, I'm glad. I hope that kitten gets a good home too. It sounds so cute. I really wish we did rescue animals. My mom found a couple of stray dogs wandering close to the road and called the nearest animal shelter to pick them up.

That was a very heart warming story ^.^
It made my day. As for me, I guess you could say my family rescued a pet. It was a stray cat that my parents originaly weren't going to let me keep. We discovered it over my aunts house, sometime after a really bad flood had occured in the.... Area?
So, my dad was over there helping them fix and clean thier house. My uncle being the vegitarian animal lover that he is, caught the cat and brought it inside. My dad decided that we would take the cat because it ate pizza and drank beer with him... It was strange.
There was also an occasion where me and one of my friends (who isn't my friend anymore, but that is a whole other story) saved a dog. He was so ragged looking and his paws were messed up. He sort of smelled funny, but my friend decided to carry him all over the neighborhood trying to find his home. When we had no luck we brought him to an animal shealter and they took care of him, tried looking for his ownders, and I think eventually gave him a different family.

Adorable story.
So my sister had a friend who had this rabbit that they said was evil. It kicked and scratched so they asked if we wanted it and of course we said yes because it was adorable and our bunny died a few years ago.
So we get the bunny and he loves us he cuddles us and never bit us and he loved us.
They came bye and saw how much he liked us and called us bunny whisperers.
And now that bunny died at ten years old. T_T I miss him! (oldest bunny ever. and he was a duarf bunny cuttest thing ever):o

...I would want that kitty, too.
It is a shame that you did not get to keep her.
I have a similar story about a kitten...
It was a stormy night and we were just coming home from something. As I stood with my parents as they were about to unlock the door, I head meowing. My first thought was that maybe one of our four cats had gotten out. So I looked around, and out of our big bushes next to the side of our house, a fuzzy kitten trotted out.
She was so cute!
I wanted to keep her, and my Aunt who was with us at the time, told my mother that it was storming out and that is was no place for a kitten.
Sadly, we couldn't take her inside due to my other four cats. They would not have taken kindly to a strange animal being brought into our home.
So we got a box and blankets and other such things, and built it a little shelter right next to our door. Our porch was covered from rain, and bushes blocked the wind, so the kitten would be safe there all night.
My Aunt had decided she wanted to take the kitten home with her the next day, but ... the kitten was gone and our neighbors had taken her.
Which made me sad... because our neighbors failed at taking care of animals.

I adopted a kitten from the shelter earlier this year, as a birthday present from my best friend :3 All of his siblings were in the cage with him, and I felt attached as soon as he started rubbing against the bars, trying to get some love <3 Like, love at first sight, lol. Now he's a happy, healthy kitten.. he loves his toys and is a huge cuddlebug when nobody else is around XDD

Once, about 7-8 years ago on Easter, my dad heard this meowing coming from somewhere outside near our house. So, after the sound became annoying to him, he decided to go outside and try and find out where it was coming from. For a while he couldn't find it until he walked past our car. The meowing sounded like it was coming from inside so my dad checked and couldn't find anything. After that he looked under the hood and found a kitten about 2 weeks old, stuck in the engine. After he carefully pulled her out, he took her inside and gave her something to eat. she was really hungry.
And after what seemed like hours of asking, my dad finally let us keep her! ^^

I rescued my kitty about 5 1/2 years ago. The family dog found him in the front yard at 1 month old and no mama. So my mother caught him and I kept him. Bean is the best thing that's happened to me in a long time. He's so loving and gentle and he's a beauty. Below is a picture of him, I hope it's not too big for the boards.

Very nice story. :)
My mom has rescued two of the cats we had. The one she still has right now was rescued. The poor thing was found near my mom's bank, it's foot was cut off and we're still not sure how. I'm pretty sure I don't want to know, but it may have been run over, or someone abused the poor thing. She was always a frightened little thing and couldn't stand to be near people.
However, she is doing good now.

awww... the same (or, almost the same) thing happend to me... twice!
~First time:
I was about to go rolerbladeing by myself when i heard a kitten cry, i looked around and saw this cute litle 2 day old kitten on the ground by itself... i called my dad out and we took him to the vet where they took care of him for us and got him adopted <3
~Second time:
This mother cat was raising her kitten in our back yard and one day she abandoned him, so we took him in and my parents actually let me keep him!! But a year later he ran away T-T
