What's the weirdest gift you've ever received?

Back when I was in high school, I had a friend who knew I liked Hello Kitty. One year for Christmas, she bought me a Hello Kitty toothbrush. Which... I mean, I get the point as to why she bought me it, it wasn't her way of telling me to go brush my teeth, but a lot of people who saw it thought it was very offensive. This past Christmas, my friend bought my best friend a Gir (from Invader Zim =3) zipper pull for his jacket. Which was cute... except it took a lot of the ruggedness out of the leather jacket. Hard to take someone seriously wearing a biker jacket with a bright yellow and green Gir zipper pull. o_o;

Has anyone gotten you a gift before that's made you raise an eyebrow? Have you ever seen anyone else get a gift that made you do a double take?

I got a can holder in the shape of a half naked man from my stepmother for christmas, along with underwear.
I still don't know what went through her mind when getting those. O.o

Raishin 08-26-2009 04:18 AM

o_O;
From your... stepmother?
I couldn't attempt to explain that ever. :XD

Ailyia 08-26-2009 04:20 AM

Yeah it was awkward. But my dad just laughed and didn't think it was inappropriate at all even though the rest of my family was around too. DX

Raishin 08-26-2009 04:36 AM

Did the rest of your family find it inappropriate?

Ailyia 08-26-2009 04:49 AM

They noticed but didn't say anything and completely ignored it.

One year for an anniversary with an ex, I opened the wrapping paper to reveal a history book. I opened it and saw that a square had been cut on the inside. In the hole there was this heart shaped wax mess with a wick sticking out of the top. It was a cute idea, just really random. I still have it in a box actually.

For-Chan Cookie 08-26-2009 08:05 AM

My Nana likes to give you weird and useless things. The last time I saw her, she gave me this gift basket she'd won and it had crackers and stuff in it and a ceramic snowman cracker tray. What I'll ever need a ceramic snowman cracker tray for is beyond me. We secretly donated it to charity.

Also, speaking of inappropriate gifts, my mom's boyfriend cornered me in my room a few weeks ago to stare at my panties. I told my mom about it of course. So as a gift, she gave me a pair of pajama pants...cause that just makes it all better?

Raishin 08-26-2009 08:11 AM

@PhantomLolita: Somehow, that seems oddly sweet. Really weird... but oddly sweet. Especially when you consider how long it probably took to make that hole in that book. x_X

@For-Chan Cookie: That is pretty useless, it almost sounds like something my mom would buy. After all, she bought thousands of dollars of Polish pottery when we lived in Europe a few years ago.
As for your mom's boyfriend, I'd consider the pajama pants not being a weird gift... I'm pretty concerned for you actually. o_o It sounds like your mom doesn't care about her boyfriend's actions, and the fact she won't even confront him over her own daughter? Something seems fishy about that.

For-Chan Cookie 08-26-2009 08:17 AM

@Raishin - When we lived in Europe, my mom bought lots of wedgewood china. At least we eat on it though.

As for the other thing, yeah, the pants sort of said to me "Cover up and maybe this wouldn't happen" but that's sort of ignoring the main issue where the man came upstairs and into my room. He hasn't been back since. Asshole. She still goes out to see him though. She's a sucker. =P I've moved the sharp pointy things closer to my bed though.

Raishin 08-26-2009 08:30 AM

@For-Chan Cookie: We eat on half of the Polish pottery we have. Actually, I'd say less than half - I know there's quite a bit of it packed away. There's tons of dishes we have packed away at my house. I guess if I ever drop a stack of plates on the floor or something, we'll still have something to eat off of...? :XD I think they're all a waste of space. We've got way more than we need.

Yeah, the pants make me feel like she was implying that you were somehow encouraging it to happen. I'm glad he hasn't come back. Sorry that your mom refuses to admit he's a perv though. :< Also, sharp objects is a good second defense... a door lock would probably be the best though. He's probably not gonna beat down your door if he ever does come back to the house. If he tried, either way, you'd have fair warning from all the banging noises.

I got a turtle from my friend , I told her previously that I like turtles and how they are so cute so when she to my birthday she had nothing , i said it is ok and then my sister took me to the kitchen till she hide the turtle anyway I saw it and loved it . his name is loay he is 6 months old.

For-Chan Cookie 08-26-2009 08:39 AM

@Raishin - Yeah, I understand. My mom hoards everything. We have more of most things then you'll ever need. -_-

The guy just got lucky. My brother and mom weren't home and he decided to come up and be a creep. Usually people are here and that wouldn't be an issue. I don't know what the man's deal is. It's not like I'm some hot young piece of meat or anything O_o At any rate, I'm pretty sure I can take him down. XD

Raishin 08-26-2009 08:51 AM

@Duttel: Aww, a turtle sounds like a cute present. <3

@For-Chan Cookie: Packrat moms unite! And while they're uniting, we can throw some of their garbage away. >_>;

Also, if he tries to do anything else, you should. :XD

Yeah he is amazing and actuality he doesn't pee a lot lol

For-Chan Cookie 08-26-2009 09:44 AM

@Raishin - OMG! They can't unite, then their messes would unite and form some giant hoarding monster and it would be like Katamari Damacy or something and collect everything in its path!

No worries, I plan on it.:twisted:

Gary Stargazer 08-26-2009 10:11 AM

a hand held crumb/dust vacum shaped like a sheep. X_x;;

Serenus 08-26-2009 04:10 PM

My grandpa bought me a glass german figure...yea.

I don't think that I've ever received super weird gifts, but, for some reason, my mom gifts me a new blue bathrobe every New Year o_O
I have like 5 of them now. All BLUE!! It's not like a bathrobe gets super worn out over the year, I only wear it once a day for like 5 minutes getting out of the shower and putting cream on.

My mom says she gets me blue ones because they match my eyes and make them pop out. It's a bathrobe for crists' sake O_O.. it's not like I'm wearing it to go to a gala..

Your post made me lol. XD That's so weird. I'm so badly in need of a new bathrobe though, so I wouldn't exactly call that a bad present if it were given to me. But now that I consider it, a bathrobe gala would be pretty neat. o 3o

PhantomLolita 08-26-2009 07:03 PM

My grandma in California always gives me random presents too. When I was younger, she gave me one of those quarter maps and used to give me newly released quarters every Christmas. She also used to make me shirts with my name(spelled wrong) and flowers all over them. One year she gave me a little snowman pin. She's given me earrings too. (my ears are stretched, so I can't wear regular earrings) She's given me so many other strange things, I can't even think of them all.

Last Christmas, my soon to be mother-in-law gave me the book "The Christmas Sweater" by Glenn Beck. I'll never read it...it's not really the kind of book I'm into. My fiance's Nana gave us these really ugly kitchen towels, but they're pretty useful I guess.

Zernita 08-26-2009 07:07 PM

Haha, bathrobe gala..

( That's acutally a pretty cool idea for a thread name. I was thinking of opening a lounge type topic and I just found my title!!
"Bathrobe Gala
put on your favorite robe, come sit and chat with us around our kitchen table.
"
)

A bathrobe isn't a bad gift, just not a preferable gift 5 years in a row XD

Raishin 08-26-2009 08:03 PM

SEE? It is a neat idea! That's also a good lounge topic name, IMO. Definitely different. :3

Well, for me, that'd be a great gift 5 years in a row, as I use bathrobes a lot. Just... maybe not in blue for 5 years. XD

DarkxLorelei 08-26-2009 11:55 PM

I had an anon. Gift left in my locker one year.
it was a pair of earrings with robots on them.
No idea who gave them to me, and I asked my friends, but no one fessed up XD
I thought they were cute XD

TheNavyBlueMoon 08-27-2009 12:04 AM

@PhantomLolita- aw, that's so sweet! <3 wow, think of how long it would take to cut a hole in a book, though... O.o wow. i don't get the book thing though. but the candle is so sweet.
the gifts from your grandma are kind of random.
