I dunno of anyone. =o ..but as far as Japanese goes, I am so lost when my boyfriend and one of our friends start chatting away in it. XD I say I'll just wait in this corner. lol
|
I had one of these people follow me around and steal my style and "Japanifyificateing" it into a Japanese style that she made up by mushing some random words in Japanese together.
I used to wear Zombie makeup (not theatre style... ^^') kilts, and t-shirts I made/bought then drew on and I carried a zombie doll everywere. Mushing that with Japanese makes a failsplosion. >< Every outfit involved a freaking naruto band....usually on her neck unless she wore the dog collar idea she took from me. (I had moded the collar...she failed epicly at doing so but still. -.-.) She was in Japanese class with me in highschool and would spend half the time flailing some Naruto doll around and smashing it into a Sephiroth action figure screaming "Yaoi yaoi kawaii" and got in trouble...and me in trouble because I had a doll too. I never got how I was associated with her at the time other then the fact she stole ideas from me. I actually rather despise anime. But the school banned my zombie doll but they still kept on. I didn't listen though. -. -. It was weeaboo girl that caused the distraction, not me. So I carried the doll anyway. Ever since then I have graduated and her mom lost her job and who knows if shes even still in town. Shes probabally still in highschool still doing the same thing and thinking her career will be drawing anime and dating japanese boys. >< |
The worst I've ever experience was when I wore a shirt with a German flag to school and tons of kids asked me if I was a nazi. I swear I was about to punch those brats in their faces, and it takes a lot to make me hit you. >.< I <3 Germany. And unlike the weaboos, I actually read about the country instead of calling myself a nazi just because that's what everyone in my school knew Germany for. I'm planning on taking German in highschool as well. I've never really had any problems with weaboos myself, but I do see them scurry around the internet alot. ._.

I admit that i really like the Japanese culture but i dont rip it to shreds saying chan after my name and kawaii all the time. I think its kinda sad. |
I have always been into China as opposed to Japan but I do really like anime manga and cosplaying so I'm around conventions and exposed to a ton of these people. You can spot them a mile away, they wear poorly thrown together costumes usually made with some form or velvet. What annoys me is their complete ignorence about the culture they are worshiping. Most of them think that their love of popularised anime will get them the "Japanese friends" they desire. The weeaboos really give people with a real intrest in Japan or even just anime a bad name.

I'd lol and walk away if I met anyone like that O____O;
|
OH!~ Can't forget their failures of RP characters. >.<
|
I was a weaboo when I was 12. (terrible past,i know!)
Almost everyone in brazil that calls themselves "otaku" here...REEEEEALLY matches this description DX My best friend always deals with these weeaboos and japanophiles. XD I never was the way his friends are,omg. (like,they think that just japanese things are good and stuff.Sometimes these hellspawn makes me ashamed to say what I like...because I'm going to be friggin compared with.....them.) My friend hates Japanese stuff because he had dealed SO MUCH with that creepy people...and NEVER met a decent fan of japanese culture(without counting with me xD) |
Well, I am Asian and I don't have an accent but I know my parents do. Because I was born in the United States and I don't think ALL Asian's are meant to have an accent. I find that rather stupid, you know? I don't know about you but I do see some wannabe at my school who are quite annoying with their anime and manga. But I haven't seen any nor met any. Because if I did, I would die. Though I do have a sister who does it. She goes "Kawaiii~" and I just stare at her. I don't think she does it anymore, I am not sure. I think I got use to it by now. Though I think the only reason she says it is because her boyfriend takes Japanese and he can read it and she just does it. I don't know, I really don't know why she abuses it. -.-; Though I thank god she doesn't live with me but with her boyfriend parents and I hope her son doesn't die because of that. xD But she does say he is Kawaiiii~ o.o;

Yeah..you can't really do anything though because that's who they are. I mean, it's irritating and embarrassing but they think it's awesome. You just have to deal with it.
I've seen people dress up as Naruto characters in the mall and that was weird. Sometimes, I wish they could understand you can't do that. I know it's being different and maybe they don't give a poo what people think. But eh.. I don't know if this goes with this topic but I hate it when I go into the Manga section in Borders or Barnes and Nobles, the kids who like them all decide to SIT infront of the manga rack. And sometimes it's like, Seriously? Why don't you just buy them. It's so irritating, and one time I was trying to find this one book, and this kid had the entire pile next to him because he found it okay to just read all the books. Seriously, I think bookstores need policies about reading the book and not even buying it. Bookstore doesn't equal Library. Also, what the hell does Desu mean? >_> |

But unfortunately some people don't leaves this phase....And looks really ridiculous Dx |
Oh god I hate those type of people. D<

XD
Really, now. Have you ever watched the olympics? There's that super-freaking-tall basketball player from somewhere in Asia... I think he was Chinese... O.o I think I was a weeaboo(Whatever that is... .___.") last year... I might still be today, but the only Japanese I ever use is when I'm either singing it, or calling one of my guyfriends Usagi-chan(his choice, not mine. >_> He's kinda weird...) which I still haven't for a while... And randomly adding -chan to some of my friends name~ ^ .^ But they're interested in the culture too, and we looked up how to actually pronounce our names in Japanese, so I don't think it counts... I am interested in the culture, and I want to take classes, and I've seen many more animes than Bleach and Naruto. Actually, I don't even watch those two. O.o I used to watch Sailor Moon... But I didn't even know what anime was. (I don't need classes.... I just need to steal Brandon's Japanese book. Like a "Learning Japanese" book, not a manga. XD I need to buy some more manga, though...) |
I have seen far too many 13-15 year olds like this at conventions. It gets so annoying to be in cosplay and get attacked by a group like this. I want to beat them over the head with a paddle just for dragging down animes like Naruto and Bleach. Seriously I hated Naruto because of these types until my friend showed me Shippuden and I fell in love Deidara's jutsu style.
People like that ruin animes, just like 4-kids. |
Oh, 4kids... XD
What won't you destroy? |
Yess!! And I also hate the people who love all of the obnoxious anime pictures with the giant (not just regularly big, but overkill) eyes and hair down to the ankles. Like, I love anime and all, but seriously? :sarcasm:
|
owo Nee~ I don't really mind if people use random fragments of Japanese in their words. To me, its about the same as saying 'Gracias' to your friend when you don't know a word of Spanish. Yanno?
But the rest of that sounds pretty irritating. xD; |

Pretty sure Japan has its own set of people that are obsessed with speaking in English, when they don't understand it.
My dislike is when people are so obsessed with Japan and Japan animation, that they use those things as an excuse to hate their own culture and country. I mean literally wishing they were Japanese... like that would some how make them different from what they are now. When I saw how mean "Otaku" or "Japanophiles" could be, that stopped me from becoming like them. |
I don't think I've ever actually met anyone who was like that. But I've seen them online and whatnot.
I've never been like that... I'm pretty sure. Haha. I always try to stay reserved and I won't speak another language unless I know for sure what I'm saying. If I do use a word in another language I always try to include more than one language; so it's obvious that I'm not trying to be some otaku or weeaboo. :P |
lol I about fell from my chair reading the title. I was like "NOT ANOTHER ONE!" lmao. I have to agree, I can't stand people who think they know everything about the Japanese culture just because they watch one or two animes. I would have to say that I like to walk to the Manga section of the book store just to listen to people screw up words. They mostly mess up the pronunciations of words like Manga and others with the vowels.
I love sushi, I absolutely HATE HATE California rolls. The only words in another language I speak are: Sou ka, de nada...and I sign a bit in ASL lol |
Yes I have, its my 9 year old sister. She assumes because she watches the Saturday night line up of anime on adult swim she can learn about the culture. She HAS to use chop sticks for dinner, even though she can barely use them, has to say 'ikidakimas'(which by the way I'm pretty sure I spelled wrong I don't speak Japanese, I just remember the phrase from various subbed animes) except she pronounces it 'eekoodikimes'. And OH boy did she get mad when I told her that konnichiwa is not the proper way to say hello before noon after 5pm (thank you friend in high school that grew up in japan for that tidbit of info). Anyways this all started after she started watching anime. It makes me super sad to know she's falling into the crazed fangirl category already *cries* I fear the day she starts running around spouting off random japanese that makes no sense.
Butchering a culture because of animation is just retarded and makes me want to slap people. |
I find this a lot, and sadly it's in my college. Tons in old forums and conventions. Usually they're little kids, a lot female, who just learned what anime is. We do have this group though in my college who I had to boot from my animation club because they were just too terrible to put up with. (Animation club not only for japanese anime, but all) One even insisted that anime was NOT cartooning, and he threatened me for insulting his hobby. (I'm sorry people, anime is short for animation, which is cartooning, argue as you will.) I adore animation, but when you start becoming obnoxious about it, that's when it's over. xD |
