does the toothpaste thing work if you use any toothpaste? or does it have to be a certain kind..?

Panic 09-02-2009 06:08 PM

I just used the stuff we had laying around. So I think it must be any kind. :) Ours is crest?

TheNavyBlueMoon 09-02-2009 06:15 PM

yeah! that's what i have! yay! i'll try it out tonight.

Macabeak 09-02-2009 06:25 PM

I've had zits since the fifth grade... Right now, I'm 20 and still have them. However, I've found that, for someone like me who's not good at washing her face every single night, exfoliating really keeps them under control. There's still zits, yes, and I suspect I have mild rosatia, but the rest of my skin looks good still.

I REFUSE to pop zits. I would rather look icky for one day over having a pit on my face for the rest of my life.

Cherish 09-02-2009 06:27 PM

I only get zits very, very rarely, so on the occasion where I do get one, it really bothers me.

I use just a little tea tree oil in the day time to dry it out, then at night I cover it with a dab of toothpaste. (TheNavyBlueMoon: yes, you can use any brand, but I find that white toothpaste [not the blue-ish gels] work best.)
By the next day, or sometimes the day after, it's completely dry and dead, so I can just exfoliate it off.

No squeezing, though. Squeezing is bad, and causes more zits to break out, as the gunk from the zit gets into your other pores.

Tea tree oil is interesting too, @[email protected] So many great tips from this thread!

At Macabeak: I know what you mean, its so so temping to just pop them. But then sometimes you don't always get all of the gunk out, and then you have to pop it again? Then the skin scars and stuff.

I've been lucky that if haven't scarred yet, but I have had worries sometimes. :)

Ugh, my face doesn't like me very much.
Acne sucks butt.
For years, everything I used would either make my skin dry out, peel (ew), or brake out more!
Gah! Even Proactive failed!
But, now I wash my face every night with that Wave thing.
It's working better than I expected.
I still have the under-the-skin kind, which don't go away easily, but the icky red painful ones are gone!
:D

The red ones are the ones that are the worst. *hatehate* I'm glad I don't get them often, but when it happens it bothers me until they pop. *hurts so so much*

Urgh, welcome to my world. Because of my PCOS, I break out quite a bit (though it's gotten better with the help of topical medicines) and it leaves scarring to boot. Hooray.

I personally use Clean & Clear Advantage spot treatment (which will reduce the size and redness if you apply it enough) with witch hazel (which tones the skin). I also heard Germ-X works really well, but it can also dry out your face.

Good luck! ^^

@ Navy Blue: I've seen extra virgin olive oil being used for a lot of things, so I'm fairly certain it should work, plus since it's organic I would assume it's not like the gross oil that causes pores to clog. o:

Agent HEY-LEE 09-02-2009 10:03 PM

@Panic: I guess.. Google has yet to lie to me! And I doubt it's for all cleansers. It just depends what in them and if they test on animals.

@TheNavyBlueMoon: I know, I haven't heard of it either! How mean of them to keep the info to themselves. D': And I'm not positive what's wrong with it.. Probably tests on animals, I don't know. Plus I'm too lazy to look it up lol.

@Kaotic: Oh, I've heard of that before!! But it just dried out my skin. =/

TheNavyBlueMoon 09-02-2009 10:29 PM

@Agent HEY-LEE: lol yes it is mean of them! oh, animal testing. that is so cruel.

Agent HEY-LEE 09-02-2009 10:37 PM

@TheNavyBlueMoon: Eh, I'm just guessing. Too lazy to do another search. But they could also have gelatin in it.. Maybe. xD Oooh have you seen this smiley? :yumehkitty: lol I just found it.

TheNavyBlueMoon 09-02-2009 11:23 PM

i know isn't it cute? :yumehkitty:

DarkxLorelei 09-03-2009 12:05 AM

haha, I don't have zits anymore, since I was using proactive.
But I used to always burst them, and that was the quickest way.
Burst a little, then dab a little disinfectant, and dab some cover up on XD

Miss Morphine 09-03-2009 02:41 AM

I've used ProActiv, Neutrogena, Clean&Clear, Clearasil, Avon, Nature's Cure, a prescription, these weird oxy pad things, and some other generic liquid face burner thing.

And I can't get rid of them completely. /:

But anyway.

The best two things were:

1. The prescription. It's a lot tougher than the non-prescription, especially with pills.

2. ProActiv's Refining Mask. It dries out your skin reeaallyy well. (:

I pop my pimples, but I make sure I don't create any scars.

You do that by making sure you don't damage your face/skin too much, getting all the white gunk out, and not trying to pop it when it's not even white.

Blackheads are a bitch. I hate getting those things out. They leave a hole for days sometimes. And there are some places where you can't even get them out of.

But anyway. Yeah. Those are my recommendations, I suppose.

Just keep in mind I have horribly oily skin D:

Yamaxchan 09-03-2009 04:29 AM

I typically don't get zits, but when I do I always get one on my nose. *sneeze* As for getting rid of them, I would do the witch hazel trick, or use my Brother's prescription for his acne. (Don't worry, I asked)

One night and GONE! :3

Missy Rin 09-03-2009 04:47 AM

I use the Bert's Bee's Zit remedy!

Panic 09-03-2009 06:10 PM

What is that?

Agent HEY-LEE 09-03-2009 10:36 PM

What's the witch hazel trick? o.O;

Panic 09-04-2009 11:22 PM

I'm so lost now. T_T

BTW I got my pictures done yesterday, and you couldn't see any blemishes! Thank you all for the great tips!

Agent HEY-LEE 09-04-2009 11:25 PM

Yay! That's always good news. But.. now I'm confused about the hazel thing. =/ I think I'll go comment that person..

Panic 09-04-2009 11:27 PM

Yea, me too, lemme know what you find out.

Agent HEY-LEE 09-04-2009 11:28 PM
