Have you ever seen that jewerly that just looks... So tacky, and cheap?
Well, today my brother brings home this tacky gold ring, with "real sapphire and diamonds" on it, for 90 bucks. I highly doubt it's real. It's just so... Cheap looking. The "sapphire" is black, and you can't even see the "daimonds" let alone a setting for them.
After I stated that gold (in my opinion) is tacky, and the sapphire is ugly, I got bitched out for having an opinion.
Have you ever seen someone get a ring you find hideous?
Have you ever gotten bitched out for an opinion?
What do you find tacky?
How much would you pay for a ring?

My MIL has a really horrible, tacky ring like that. She wears it next to her wedding ring, in place of her engagement ring.
It cost about £30, and has a huge (and painfully, obviously fake) "diamond".
She gloats about it, like; "it only cost £30, but it looks like a real diamond, doesn't it?"
No, it does not. It looks like a big, tacky lump of glass. It couldn't even pass for cubic zirconia.
If you're going to wear fakes and pretend they're real diamonds, the trick is to wear really tiny fake diamonds, otherwise it's just way too obvious that it's not real.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind people wearing fake jewelry at all. If you like it, wear it... but for the love of all that is tasteful, don't try to pass it off as real. You're fooling no one but yourself.

I saw the coolest ring at this store in Hawaii. It was like this gravatational spinny thing, I have no idea how to describe it but it was sooo cool. It also had diamonds and junk on it i guess. The lady let me try it on ,then when I found out how much it was I was like, HOLY SHIT!!! Hahaha, I couldn.t believe she let me hold it, it was like 900 dollars, which is more than my car is worth.

oh, I don't know, I like simple gold chains and bracelets, although big clunky golden things are sort of tacky. I like silver a little better though, although gold is a nice complement to dark hair and eyes... but yeah, sounds tacky, especially for $90.

Gold is only tacky if it doesn't work with you - it compliments certain skin tones, eye colors, hair colors, sure, but if you're not one of them...then yeah, it's tacky as hell.
I'm one of the people it looks really tacky on. Pale, cool skin tone (though it's usually falsely warmer thanks to the fact that I'm usually sunburned >__<), all that fun stuff. I'm more of a silver person; gold accents at most.
Although I will tell you, it is entirely possible to get "real" sapphires for $90; usually they'll be lab-created, though sometimes you'll be lucky and actually get low-grade natural sapphires, but they have the same physical structure as natural sapphires. Still, they're likely to be very low-quality - from the description...sounds about typical.
Diamond accents go for pretty cheap too; my favorite bracelet has very small diamond accents (they're difficult to see, but still there); I got it for $30. So it's not unlikely that his claims are true.
What I can't stand is those big clunky "hip-hop" style pendants. Ugh. >__<; Especially when I see a ton of them around here and you can just SEE they're made of something like aluminum. The real gold and silver ones are bad enough.
Also, when people who feel the need to wear huge clunky cocktail rings 100% of the time. Okay, if you have some kind of personal attachment to it, sure, I can see that...but just for the sake of having something sparkly? Just...no. Especially not if you're gonna try and pass it for REAL sapphires and rubies and diamonds.
Those things can look okay...when worn with the right kind of outfit. You have to be creative to make it look decent though...and sadly, no one around here is. >__<;

For me big things are really tacky. I don't mind if you layer lots of little things but huge braclets, necklaces, etc just scream tacky.
Also gold looks really tacky to me. It's just so over done.

Some sapphires can have a slightly more black tint to them. I honestly prefer semi precious stones, such as green onyx and blue topaz. I have a blue topaz and marcasite ring in a sterling silver that I bought from work, which is beautiful.
I also agree with the fact that gold does not look good on all people. However, I feel that you can get away with it if it is more of a thin and understated piece.
The prices of gold and silver have also gone up recently, so jewellery is selling at a lot more.

Have you seen those necklaces with words or names hanging off of them? Those, I find them to be so tacky.

I think most jewelry looks really ugly, but that's just me. I never say anything about anyone's jewelry unless I'm asked, and even then, I lie and say it looks nice. Again, I don't like jewelry, so even if it actually is a nice ring, necklace, whatever, I wouldn't know. I personally wouldn't buy a ring at all, unless it was for someone else. I have a hard time finding rings that will fit my scrawny fingers. D:

Yes, I have. It is so disgusting when someone tells me my jaded ring looks fake. It isn't and my mom bought it a long time ago for 13k. I think I am not sure, it is on the ring but I don't want to take it off. I hate most jewelry people wear now a days anyways. At least nobody will rob me because they'll think my rings are fake, I would suspect some would think it is. =]
