I like my middle name. It's my moms last name; Zamany. It's odd and doesn't fit into my full name at all, but I think it's cool to have an odd name that sets you apart from others.

You're name is your identity, and I cannot understand people who do not like their names or want to change them, because to me it signifies that they are unhappy about who they are in some way.

Kraetiis 01-09-2010 08:25 PM

My middle name is Nubia, which embarrasses me, because if you put my name and middle name together. it would be my father's email account.

damn...did he really have to be lazy and use his email to name me!

Trissa 01-09-2010 08:48 PM

Well I don't even have a middle name, so I don't really see how people would be embarased by it, well unless it was something really off.

I said cause it has one of the power puff girls name in it ugh!

Harmonius 01-09-2010 09:58 PM

I don't have a middle name.

T~T

SamuraiPanda 01-09-2010 10:19 PM

Well for starters I don't even have the name my parents wanted for me. I was suppose to be a Diana something(or a Kyle if I was a boy... I think if I have a boy when I have kids I'm naming him Kyle Allen), but I popped out not looking like one so I became a Melissa Ann. Its pretty.. until you add on my last name and that's where the relentless teasing in school started; my initials are M.A.N. If I were to change anything about my name it would be my last name, I'd love to change it to my mom's current last name and become M.A.D. because I'm silly like that *giggle* but I don't see that happening. I guess it's something that's got to wait until I get married.

Now as to why people are embarrassed by their middle names, I think most parents don't tell their kids why they got it as a middle name so they don't understand the significance it means. Though sometimes... middle names are just embarrassing lol

Laila Izuka 01-09-2010 10:24 PM

I have a popular middle name, but I ain't embarrassed by it

kid-kokopelli 01-09-2010 10:26 PM

I don't know why people are embarassed by their middle names. I actually prefer mine!
My middle name is Alyce. (Pronounced Elise). Weird right? :P
If there was any name that I could change it would be my first name, Ann. It's so short and simple. I want something more interesting like Milo! I always liked that name. But my name is Ann. That's why I go by my middle name. Alyce is a liiitle bit more fun.

Portia - DAMN, that sucks. Whoa. D= I like the name "Portia" though, always have. And "Charlotte" is still one of my favorites. Old-fashioned, maybe, but it's such a pretty name. If I ever had a daughter, I'd name her "Lilith Jasmine." I think it sounds pretty. ^^;

His dad doesn't really mind his name, because people call him "Iggy." Personally, though, it'd bother me 'cos that name reminds me of the horrid game "Iggy's Wreckin' Balls" (does anyone else remember that one? It was for N64).

iinsanely Sane 01-09-2010 10:50 PM

Weellll... my WHOLE name is just really ... no.. its kind of embarassing, basically. My mother wanted to call me one name, then my middle name would be her best friend's name, then our last name, but the initials were ASS, so she changed them around, so my middle name is basically my first name, since my mom just changed it round and called me my middle name, if that makes sense. I also don't really like my name.. D; which is why I haven't mentioned it xD

Yes I remember that game. In fact I have it upstairs right now. I was actually pretty decent at it if I'm remembering correctly lol.

I know. I honestly don't know what my mum was thinking at the time she decided alliteration was the way to go. Well its allright, I shall soon be an Anderson so its all good I suppose.
Lilith is a nice name. I am quite fond of the old fashioned type names. I love Olivia. Though one I have always loved was Cassidy, I think thats just the cutest.
Aw Iggy is quite a cute nickname actually. Well as long as someone likes his name lol

Fina Lee 01-10-2010 12:22 AM

Mine is Blaine. >< I hateeeeee it.

Lost in Austen 01-10-2010 12:55 AM

Ruth. Its okay. I dont hate it, but I dont love it either.

SuperPotpurri 01-10-2010 01:07 AM

People get embarresed by their middle name ususally because it doesn't seem to fit them XD
like if a tough guy had a fancy-pretty boy name or something XDD;;

Myself, I personally love my middle name *V* my middle name is Alexandra
and I would not change it <3 when I was younger though,
I thought it was Alexandria XDD
and for some reason, a drawing I have from preschool has my middle name on it instead of my first name >W>

Wynna 01-10-2010 03:04 AM

My middle names are Robert and Corneilius, I like them they're pretty neat. Well Corneilius at least, it's not that common of a name anymore.

Aganab 01-10-2010 03:05 AM

I wouldn't ever change my name, especially as it's not only Polish, but also English. It's Barbara.

Doodler 01-10-2010 03:29 AM

My younger brother and I both have the full version of our parents names' as our middle name. My mom's name is Beth and my middle name is Elizabeth. My dad goes by Mike and my little brother's middle name in Michael. I wouldn't change my middle name, I think it's kind of cool the way my parents did that.

As for the being embarrassed, Im not sure why. I remember when I was younger I hated telling people my middle name. But now it doesn't really bother me. Maybe it's because our middle names are used so rarely. Hmm . . . I don't know.

Why do you think middle names tend to bother people?
What's your middle name?
If you could change your middle name, what would you choose?

It's like getting to know something about someone thats not usually seen. I guess it's like finding a birthmark on someone bum. No one's supposed to know it except the people who they tell. I think.

My middle name is Ernestine (country family, and handed down from my grandmother ^^)

Na, it's strange and, I havent heard of too many others with it. I'll keep it.

Hayzel 01-10-2010 05:18 AM

My family is kind of weird when it comes to names.

We live in the US but everyone in my family(excluding those who married into it) have 5 names.

Chloe Ashlynn Kaeyla Hayzel *Insert Last Name Here*

Chloe - isn't actually on my birth certificate, nor does anyone call me Chloe. It's tradition that my "first name" be the name of the most recent dead relative from when I was born.

Ashlynn - I go by Ash or Ashes XD This is my first name on my birth certificate. It's also what people call me.

Cynthia - My second given name(my parents pick this one and the one that comes before it)

Kaeyla - This is added within my first year of life and is supposed to be a description of my actual person. Kaeyla means wise.

*last name* - My dad's last name.

My sister is

Lila Cassandra Mae Kin *last name*

Lila is my dead great grandmother, Cassandra Mae would be typically considered her first and second name. Kin refers to the golden hair she had as a baby.

I am not embarrassed by my middle name I just hate it, it's ugly. So I don't have one as far as I am concerned. It's Anne though.

Roxxxy 01-12-2010 01:04 AM

Middle names are usually passed down. Like, a lot of you may have your grandmother/grandfather's name as your middle name. This can be embarrassing, as names usually follow trends. Nowadays, who wants to be named Iris? My middle name is Sue, and of course I hate it! But if I had to pick another one, I would be at a loss.

Nope not me. I don't know where my parents came up with my middle name. And I don't think my mom remembers either.

Lore 01-12-2010 02:30 AM

I think most people are embarrassed by their middle names because they're generally older styled names, or names that are just a liiiiiiiittle bit too prissy/fancy/long winded to be a first name.

It'd be like having your first name be.. Beatrice or something.

My own middle name is Simone, though~ ( But my uncle did want to name me Beatrice. )

Clockwork Lime 01-13-2010 05:44 AM

I know a girl named Beatrice, and it sort of suits her. The name's always struck me as a little quirky, and while I really, really wouldn't want it to be my name, it's kind of cool.
