WhiteSerenade 09-13-2009 08:51 PM

Awww thats sad, well try to make a new style with it!

Manayume 09-13-2009 09:00 PM

Trying to give yourself a hair cut never works, at least for me anyways. I wish I could give some advice, but the only thing I know how to do well is cutting my bangs. X3 So if you need help with that, I'd love to assist you!

Jess 09-13-2009 09:19 PM

Thanks evryone...I guess it doesn't look that bad...

Ths is unrelated, but I just noticed all of ou avis have the same haircut.

Jezriel 09-13-2009 09:22 PM

Cutting tangles is always a bad idea. I have three or four kinds of detangler around the house so I can get my hair manageable before a bath or hair cutting.

Fern 09-13-2009 10:15 PM

I have short, dark brown, curly hair too! I curse my mother for giving it to me. Actually for most of my life I've hated my hair.
When it was long I hated it because it was always a tangled mess and a pain to wash. When it was short it was just a big poofy mop.
I switch around whether I want it short or long from time to time. Currently it's short, it's been that way for the past year. I love it. On days I don't love it I cope by straightening it, or putting mousse in it. Always makes me feel better.
I have never never never cut my own hair and never will. I think it's a bad idea because it always ends up messed up.
Oh, a good way to boost curly hair self esteem is to hang around people with naturally straight hair and mention something about your hair or theirs. 9 out 10 times I've gotten compliments, saying that they wish they had hair like mine, and that it looked really cute. Even if they were lying it made me feel better. xDDD

Xrabbite 09-14-2009 01:20 AM

A couple summers ago, I gave myself a haircut.. My mom got SO angry, then got even more angry whenever it was complimented.

Heh heh heh.

Twisted Insanity 09-14-2009 01:28 AM

Only time I've ever cut my hair myself was when I was 3/4. I would cut my barbie's hair then mine, but it wasn't noticeable so nobody knew unless I told them. =P I don't cut my hair now though, simply because I don't trust myself. Knowing me, I'd mess up my hair big time. :3

TheNavyBlueMoon 09-14-2009 03:52 AM

i have short curly hair too! but mine is blonde-brown. i have bangs too, and they are all curly. its really frizzy, so i get it all wet before going to school. you cut your own hair? wow, i could never...i dont like changing my own appearance, it took me 2 months to talk myself into getting my hair cut short. it was long until the beginning of last summer, and then i forced myself to get it cut. now its really springy and its length is very short. its right above my shoulders, but if it was straight it would be a centimeter or so below them.

Quantum Angel 09-14-2009 08:21 AM

I always cut my hair myself...it's rarely absolutely perfect, but at least it's closer to what I WANT than what I get when I take it to the salon.
My mom hates it. She hates it even more when it gets complimented. XD

However, in your case, I would advise taking it to a professional - repair jobs are often a lot harder than a simple haircut; I could probably do a repair job if something happened to my hair (which I hope doesn't happen; I'm trying to grow it out), but...I've been doing this for years.

Curly/wavy hair is a bitch to cut and get even, I have to say. Mine has a gentle wave (some days this looks nice - other days it looks like hell; I'd like to have it just straight though) - I always have to straighten it somehow before cutting it (usually just having it wet and hanging straight will do, but some days it's really uncooperative >__<).

Reminds me, I'm overdue for a trim on the shorter bits of my hair. Perhaps I'll do that tomorrow. >w>;

dianakitsune 09-15-2009 12:06 AM

wow, I could never cut my own hair, I'd be way too afraid of destroying it, I don't mind cutting my bangs though, I haven't done a bad job on those, but in general, I would NEVER cut my own hair.

zumbie 09-15-2009 05:33 AM

I once had hair that was two feet long. Then in a rage I took a knife and cut it all off. Like 3-4 inches short. I've had some crazy times in my life.

Duttel 09-15-2009 08:57 AM

I never cut my own hair and never will xP I like profs to d my hair I like my hair tall , I don't like short hair.

Wonderlands 09-15-2009 09:53 AM

I got really angry with my hair one day cause i had just got it cut and one side was different to the other so i tried to even it out. Big mistake! Just try and make a new hairstyle out of it. Add a clip and try to clip it up or something. Good Luck!

Ogaku Tenshi 09-16-2009 04:28 PM

Why would you do that? I have evil, EVIL hair (my hair is so curly that when it is straight it is two to three inches longer than when it's curly) and I don't cut it. Whenever I have a really horrible tangle here is what I do:

I wash it in the shower with lots of shampoo and conditioner and then I take a wide tooth comb ( that's the kind of comb people, like you and me, with curly hair are supposed to use and I hold it vertically and work on the tangle from the bottom to the top and then after I've gotten a lot of the tangle out I do the same thing with a regular comb until the tangle is completely gone. I've used this technique when the whole back of my head was one gigantic tangle and it worked. Yes it did hurt, but because of how I did the combing it hurt very little.

There's my advice. You can choose to use it or not.

Raishin 09-16-2009 04:43 PM

I tried cutting my own hair once because I hated my bangs so much. Yeah... I didn't taper them well so they wound up being cut 1) too short and 2) uneven.

pumpkins 09-16-2009 06:00 PM

I always cut and dye my hair, and it has never been bad. Guess it works for me. Or im good at cutting hair..... hm. Sometimes my friend cuts and helps with dyeing.

Sun 09-16-2009 06:29 PM

I only ever cut my own hair, or rather, bits of it, twice. Once when i was about 10. I asked my mom if i could cut part of my fringe off because it was annoying, me and im guessing she said yes. Strange considering her reaction. I looked so daft. I had a bit of hair just sticking up at the front of my head for ages.

The second time i was about 14. I cut the same bit of fringe off again, to see what it would look like, but my hair was considerably longet then, so they it didn't look to bad, seeing as i didn't cut it all the way off as i did before.

Mystic 09-16-2009 10:19 PM

I always cut my own bangs but hey always end up being way shorter than I wanted them to be. I really haven't messed up my own hair but I jacked my puppy's hair up pretty badly because I had to cut burrs out of her hair. Now her whole tummy is naked except for one little patch of hair that I was afraid to cut.

The Jupiter Alien 09-17-2009 12:11 AM

When I was six, I gave myself bangs. My babysitter was watching TV and I took scissors and just cut my hair. The in eighth grade, I got my hair cut short to underneath my ears. BAAAAD idea. It was like some extremely bad white girl poofy afro gone wrong. Now, I don't really touch my hair unless I know what I'm doing. I dye it semi-frequently, but I know what I'm doing, or I have someone who does help me. Cutting tangles never ever works.

Jovie 09-17-2009 12:16 AM

I learned my lesson in second grade. I tried to cut it myself, my mom caught me, took me into the barbers and had it all shaved off.

Noooo!

Now I'm really picky about who does my hair. There is only ONE person I will ever go to and she knows exactly how I like it.

Sir.Spoon 09-17-2009 01:05 AM

I always hate my hair cuts. They are never the way I like them...but I won't ever complain. [Oh wait...*breathe in the hypocrisy*] I always tip well to the hair dresser despite the results, because I know that I couldn't cut hair to save my life. Sir.Spoon + Scissors / Hair = Epic Fail.

XD...omg, i almost did the same thing! i mean the bad poofy white chic fro. hair that sort just doesnt work if you have curly hair, does it? only it was gonna be worse, cuz i was gonna make it so that it was really short in the back, and down to my shoulders in the front. with bangs. so it was gonna be a fro in the back and just curly in the front. XD but the barber warned me it would go all fro on me if i didnt straighten it, so instead i got it cut so it gets just a little shorter as it goes back, and the front is right above my shoulders. and i have bangs.

wow...you gave yourself bangs?! now how did that work out for you?

psychonekochan 09-17-2009 03:35 PM

I've actually done that not once, but twice. You'd think I would have learned after the first time, but no. >.> LOL

But hair grows, which is awesome. XD

I definitely would have killed myself if I got stuck with "Velma" hair for the rest of my life. 0.0
