Listen, 4th edition is the same quality as we are used to getting from D&D. Most opinions are based on hear say and uninformed remark. I was opposed to 4th too and I realized I had not even given it a chance!
First of all I don't know how any one can say it is a WoW clone; because, no. I have never spent two hours playing DnD by walking around and killing random wild animals, or improving my "tailoring skills" I started at 2nd Edition. And I remember when 3rd came out and EEEEEVERYBODY said, "Eww, it's so different, they want to be so main stream. The rules don't make sense anymore, and they changed too much." And when 3.5 came out... Well no, pretty much everyone agreed it was better. Part of what makes a system is having a DM who knows all the rules and knows the system well enough to fudge it so that the players have fun, explore a world and have good times. But not many have given it enough of a chance to get to that point. Well I have and I love it. If you want to argue on valid facts about rules and points of the system I will and gladly, but not over hear say. With that out of the way D&D is BOMB. I also love Mage the Ascension, Vampire Masquerade and the Serenity Table Top. Unfortunately most of the bad press has been fueled by Christian anti-D&D movements. There was this guy who used to hand out anti D&D pamphlets near my high school that said; "You would turn into a Devil worshiper and fall into a cult get mixed up with drugs kill your parents and then die sad and alone before going to hell." Obviously complete rubbish. |

Well I haven't given four point zero a chance mainly because I cannot afford to buy all the books in the series as they are expensive. I have nine books from the three point five edition and I spent a lot of money on them. Now if someone else had it, I wouldn't be opposed to trying it, I think it's more of a money issue. The new race they have in the new edition kind of reminds me of World of Warcraft. I'm sure it's not much like it but the game does allow for more levels which is cool, there are some things I like about it more. Who ever was handing out the pamphlet obviously knows nothing about Dungeons and Dragons which makes him meaningless and invalid on anything he has to say right off the bat. |

I started that forum, but it died. I was in a campaign, but my character never leveled and kept dying. So, I am without campaign, and it saddens me. |

I would then I could DM for you guys and we could play anytime we wanted. I love to DM. I just bought the game Dragon Origins lol. Back on topic, this Sunday five of my friends and I are getting together for our monthly session at Noon and we are going to be playing until eight : thirty. We all usually bring food, drink(beer) and whatever what nots anyone else chooses to bring... Looks like I'm DMing and this campaign is a similar to world of Ravenloft if you have ever heard of it. |
Yay! DnD! I actually didn't start playing until I started college though I knew about it before, but everyone I knew that played was kind of jerk. Now I love it. I've been involved in a game every semester and have run a really successful game (although it was the Heroes system) last semester. I really enjoy it. I'm sort of a classic nerd - very involved in my school work, so DnD games have become my way to really relax and play and enjoy it. It's a great way to not think about school work and have fun. I'm kind of interested in new systems all the time - especially simple ones. My DnD edition of choice is definitely 3.5 though I have a bunch of first edition stuff.

I love D&D But I don't really care for the 4th edition. =(

Dungeons and Dragons is a great social game and is very creative on many levels. It's hard to find quality people to play this wonderful game with. Three point five is my preferred series of books for the game too. @SherylNomoe ~ I personally agree with you too! |
I'll play
|
Haha! I have. Been playing for a few years. I played 2nd Edition. Good times. But my family started playing a game called Savage Worlds, so I haven't seen it much recently. :vicky:

Yeah, gives too much freedom or...something.. It was just very distasteful. >/ |

Well find some people, try a game, and report back to us what you think. @Firelighter ~ I have played second edition and remember the lower your armor class was the better, but in three point five edition it's the higher your armor class the better off you are. Tell me more about the savage world system too, that sounds interesting. @SherylNomoe ~ I more or less thought it was World of Warcraft being compiled into a Dungeons and Dragons world, but some people like it. It's all a matter of preference in the end. |
I had heard about it before, but only had my first game earlier this week. I liked it. I'm not sure what edition it was, but i was a Naylar mage. Fun times.
