pamiishammy 11-18-2009 09:50 PM

Yes, I've heard of D&D and seen people playing it.
I dont think I would like playing it though, I need games that I can see and such.

I'm too much of a video game addict.

deweyduquesne 11-19-2009 12:02 AM

It's a whole lot better than playing a video game I think, it opens your mind and really makes you think and interact with your peers and invokes imagination and creativity. You should definitely give it a try.

@deweyduquesne ~ Really? Maybe one day I will play as a dark elf drow female cleric of Lloth the Spider Queen lol!

@Renomonty ~ Wished we could help you, but I'm way far from there. I think there may be a list of people on Craigslist who may want to play dungeons and dragons? Don't know for sure though.

@ZeGuMmIBeaRQueEn ~ Well it does require reading some books and learning the rules and parameters of the game. If you have ever read a chose your own adventure book then it is kind of similar to something like that.

The campaign I play in is made up by my friend, the world is called Krythas, so far we have only explored one continent. It's a tough place, to go adventuring. My character has been extremely lucky.

ZeGuMmIBeaRQueEn 11-19-2009 07:00 AM

ooohh, i get it! oh, i like those kinds of things. but you need at least 2 players, im sure. and im sort of the nerdy one out of my friends lol, something tells me none of my friends would be willing to play it with me. XD
where can you get the books?

deweyduquesne 11-19-2009 08:30 PM

You make it sound more fun than the real dungeons and dragons. Dragon Age the video game is pretty effing awesome, to me nothing is better than playing a game with awesome players with a nice planned out campaign wondering where the fates(dice) will take the story.

deweyduquesne 11-19-2009 11:17 PM

hahaha o no, no computer so far has ever been able to come close to the experience of a fun tabletop. but NWN IS alot of fun, the only downside is that you need a good computer if u dont wanna lag all the time

Sentinel 11-19-2009 11:21 PM

i love d&d<3
can't say that i'm a very experienced player, though. My boyfriend got me into it; i've always wanted to play it before and i'm actually doing my second campaign ((the first one kindof died. D: ))
i guess it depends on who you're playing with, though.

Re:no 11-20-2009 08:37 AM

I've been playing D&D for about 13 years. I started Dungeon Mastering pretty soon after. I've played with three different groups of my friend and between them I've played in all the standard WotC(Wizards of the Coast) and TSR(Tactical Studies Rules) campaign setting(i.e. Greyhawk, Dragonlance, Ravenloft, Ebberon, Faerun and D20 Modern) multiple times.

We even played most of the other d20 games that got published through various companies. We could never get many World of Darkness(Changeling w00t) games off the ground because there just werent enough of us that were willing to commit.

We tried a bunch of other non d20 games too. In Nomine would have been really good if the system wasnt so simplistic. Little Fears was a great horror game but not many players would seriously roleplay as a young child. Usagi Yojimbo was badass if for no other reason than you could play as an anthropomorphic rhinocerous ninja plus who doesnt love a throwback to a classic Ninja Turtles character. The only game that didnt go over so well with anyone but me was Deadlands, mostly because to do a lot of stuff you forgo dice completely and draw cards from a standard poker deck(jokers included) to see if you succed.

Whats some of the craziest adventures you've all been on? In any game.

semiSuicidal 11-20-2009 09:25 AM

I've always wanted to try D&D but i'm afraid that i'll become addicted >.<

It's not just the computer, it's also a good connection. You're right table top is the most fun experience to have.

@Sentinel ~ Glad to hear you're playing another campaign, so what happened with your character from the first campaign? I know a lot of people that after a couple months they get attached to the character they create.

@Re:no ~ I can't really comment on the d20 games because I have never really played them or given them a chance. Most likely because I don't have the books nor know anyone who has them. I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons since I was thirteen as well.

@semiSuicidal ~ During school you really have to schedule it out since playing a game takes hours. that's why our group play either twice or once a month during the last part of the semester due to crunch time and deadlines.

Darkestofsouls 11-20-2009 09:45 PM

Anyone ever play Exalted (or any of WhiteWolf's RolePlaying Games?)

deweyduquesne 11-21-2009 09:51 PM

hahahaha i really need to get back into gaming more now lol

Lysine 11-21-2009 10:08 PM

I love D&D! In the campaign I'm currently in, I play a snarky kender bard who plays the glockenspiel and is on a quest given to her by a ghost involving a magic mirror.
3.5th edition for the win, by the way.
