In today's age, our mp3 players and headphones can support incredibly loud sounds, even with some of the limitations companies have put into place. There are warnings about hearing loss and not turning the volume up past certain points, and there have been studies on this... We all know exactly how we can hurt our ears.

And yet there is always that one song that you can't resist cranking the volume up for. Or maybe you can't resist the call of your favorite band's concerts, or going to clubs. Or maybe riding roller coasters with your friend who screams really loudly....

So tell me, Meneshwans!

How are YOU killing your eardrums?

I listen to music with my headphones, but unless I'm in a really noisy place I tend to keep the volume at a level where if I pull them out in front of me I can't hear the music. I also love roller coasters, but I'm lucky if I get to a theme park once a year D;

That's about it though. I hate wild and crazy places so I evade concerts and clubs

@ Erailea: I'm exactly the same way :3nod: Well, except for one thing - there's a bunch of songs I love that I almost always turn up the volume for. It's just one of those things where I love feeling surrounded by the music ;3

haha. Ya, there are one or two song I do the same for on occasion, but usually I try to keep it all at a level safe my hearing XD Usually if I'm blasting out music it's from my computer with my subwoofer reverberating XD Haven't done that in a while either, but when I was in school last year and in my dorm room working I tended to do that. But even then, it wasn't to a point where my ears or head hurt because of it

I only realized listening to loud music could hurt my ear drums last year. I always listened to my ipod above 80% because I didn't like to be able to hear people when listening to music.
Once I learned that, I freaked out and locked my sound so the max was about 60 or 70 percent. xD I only ever unlocked it on airplanes, where I couldn't hear any song above the engines.

I kill them only during the weekdays when I go to school. My cafeteria is really loud so I have to make my music even louder than them. When I am waiting for the bus, I keep the volume very moderately.If I am on the bus, I keep it low enough for me to hear it.

I listen to music mostly everyday && I use my headphones most the time.

Honestly, I really don't like loud noises, so I tend to keep my music at a hush when I listen to it, also, I do this so that I can hear other people.

I think my ears might actually last quite a long time. I think headphones are really uncomfortable, so I've never really used them, actually don't think I have for at least two years. Plus I'm kind of a whimp and really sensitive to loud noises, so I try my best to avoid them. xD

I don't really enjoy loud noises at all. I hate headphones because they make my ears hurt, and I avoid really loud places like clubs (this is also partly because I'm not very good in those situations, lol).

But I do admit, I am pretty bad at putting in a musical soundtrack like Wicked or Sweeney Todd on the surround sound and sing at the top of my lungs. :D

Lets see...loud music on headphones, check. Almost a constant when I'm not at work - how I can manage to communicate at that job still (working in a library) is beyond me. XD I also go to a ton of concerts - this is a double-whammy since I'm also epileptic; fatigue + flashing lights + loud noises = dead eardrums and quite possibly a good bit more than the usual bumps and bruises of a wild crowd. XD; I'm...probably going to get myself seriously hurt like that one of these days, but I'm not willing to give up those experiences. D|
I have always wondered how the artists can hear at all, after having performed so many loud shows time and time again...I swear I'll find out someday. Or go deaf trying.

Also, transportation out of town. I live in a very...awkward situation; there's only one way to travel out of town and it is EXTREMELY noisy. So that contributes to it. Considering that I have to leave town to see my doctor on a regular basis...yeah.

I'm not gonna be one of those old ladies with excellently preserved hearing, I have to say. XD Yay for hearing aids.

I normally don't listen to things very loudly. But when I'm on the bus, I'm probably killing my eardrums there because I listen to my music at a high volume so I can actually hear it over all the noise

Like Erailea, I don't usually have my music on loud enough that if I take them out I can still hear it from arms length. It depends on where you are though, if I'm down a street or something, I have to have it loud enough so that I can hear it over cars etc. But I don't like other people hearing what I'm listening to for some reason S: At night when I listen to it, I don't have it that loud cause theres no other noise to drown it out. I still like to listen to music loud though, but not when theres other people around me.

I try not to keep my music too loud, though sometimes on the tram I cannot hear it any other way. Those situations, they definitely don't do good for my eardrums.
There's a kid in my class who is 15 and already wrecked his hearing because he always turns up his volume to the maximum. He doesn't seem to care that he is killing his hearing though, but he figures he'll be deaf by 30. He'd rather listen to his music loud than have hearing in the future. I don't get it, seriously... I like my hearing. :o

Hehe, fair enough. Those are both great and catchy soundtracks. ^_^

I don't crank up the music I listen to where you can hear it in another room. Just enough where I can hear it. I'm ok with headphones, they don't hurt my ears. Earphones are worse, for your hearing and for your ears. They hurt my ears, and I can never really fit them in there all the way. Too big for my ears. So If I get an Ipod or Mp3 player I'm getting headphones with it. I don't care how I look like with it. I normally don't care what people think and say about negative things anyway.

Edit: (Yay! I started a new page! >.<)

If I REALLY love a song, I'll turn up the headphone volume to deafening levels XD I have to! I just love certain songs~ And I cannot stand ppl talking while I am listening to my songs....So if they are, I really turn up the volume. >,>;

Most of the time I listen to the music while I'm driving cranked up too loud. I get stares from people on the side walks. It's kind of funny actually. I used to have an MP3 player but it got stolen. I have decided since I have lost 2 MP3 players that it may not be a good idea to get an iPod.

I think my parents and brother are killing ours' (and damaging the hearing of our dogs) by having the volume on every TV we have up so loud you can almost hear it down the hall.

Ohhhh, yeah. My dad always has the television up so loud I can hear it from my room down the hall, even with my door closed and my tv on. It's nuts.
My grandpa's just as bad, but at least he has an excuse. ^^;

I think about killing my ears every time I go to a concert. I go to a few a month and I also listen to music loud but most the time it is not with head phones so I tend not to worry about it too much.

I already have profound hearing loss (from birth, not from loud music), but I still make a conscious effort to keep noises at a bare minimum so that it won't get worse.
I wear headphones most of the time, but only so that I can hear the music or whatever I'm listening to, and never to drown out any noise, no matter how much I may be tempted.

I listen to music too much... it's not really loud, but I almost always listen to music or sing or play music, and I can't help it O.O
Life is so boring without music. I listen to it when I draw, go to school, go for a walk, sit in a car, clean my room, shop (by myself), or if I just wait for something. Or sing when I'm in the bathroom or just in my room for something, almost anytime there are no people around, and I'm in a church choir too. And then play drums at home or in school. I'm also going to music class in my highschool.
So yeah...

I don't like discos or clubs... I don't have anything to do there (I can't dance, and you can't even talk to each other... And I don't like pop X3 )
But I like metal concerts. Headbanging is so much fun too X3
Sometimes I use earplugs, if that helps just a little...? ^^'

@ juliannaaa: You're much better about it than I am! I've been wearing hearing aids since I was 4, and I still have to remind myself to turn down the volume for my music >_>
