What is on your Diploma?
Today I found out that my diploma will now say "Technical Studies" even though I started out in the Simulation and Gaming major... the reason they are doing this is because my Major was 1 of 20 dropped by my college because they just didn't have enough students in the major. They said that they are allowing us to finish... BUT they are now calling my major Technical Studies.... Personally I am out raged. I worked my tail end off trying to stay on the deans list for this major and was trying my hardest to graduate with "Simulation and Gaming"... NOT "Technical studies... I am currently in the middle of a debate with the Administration at my school to see if I can get some mention of my Simulation and Gaming studies on my Diploma...
So if you are in college what is your major? If you are not in college what do you want as your major when you get there? or what was your major? if you are out of college what are you doing now? does it have anything to do with what you studied in school? how did you get your job? |
I'm not sure of the technical name, but I'm studying to be a linguist for my major. My minor is Small Business Management. Not quite sure what language I'll take though. I'm thinking of finishing up my Japanese, but I think German would be a lot more sensical.

I have a diploma of higher education, I haven't quite finished my degree but I couldn't stand the university any more. I can finish and swap it for a degree any time they said. It says Education studies and Psychology on it. I'm trying to get a job as a teaching assistant and save money to do an open university course using some of the credits I already have to get a degree.

I have a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Anthropology with a minor in History. Right now I'm working for my parents at their company. I might go back and get my masters later though, because I'm not officially an Anthropologist until I do.

I want to do history at open university, most likely only using the credits I got from ed studies. I want to be a teacher so I need a degree with a national curriculum subject.

That sounds like it sucks, I'd be fighting the school all the way, so goodluck with that.
I'm actually still a senior in highschool, and don't have any plans on going to college. If I did though I'd probably attempt to major in languages. |
I have a BFA in animation... what exactly my diploma says I couldn't tell you. I honestly didn't look at it for more than like a moment :P But I'm fairly certain it's something along the lines of "Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation" because my college was really rather well known for the program.

I don't think it really matters what your diploma says as long as you've got it. No future employer is going to ask you to see your diploma.
On resumes, you can always say you got a degree in Technical Studies, with an emphasis on Simulation and Gaming. My degrees are Psychology and Journalism, but I always tell people I have a Journalism degree with a Magazine emphasis, because that was my focus. |
I agree with Sizzla, so as long as your honest, putting a bit of a "stretch" with saying "an emphasis on..." isn't a big deal. All that does is say you focused on a particular area within a bigger field.

I actually have two different ones. ^__^''
One is from High School with all my GCSE's which is just the basic subjects. And one from College with my AS and A levels. I have an AS in Modern History, and A Levels in English Language, Graphic Design, English Literature. And a pass in Illustration Skills and Communication skills level 3. Currently I'm working on my University degree. I'm taking English with creative Writing. So I'll have all the benefits of just studying English Literature, but with Creative Writing as well! it's two extra classes, but I'm not complaining. XD Sadly, most employers do look at your certificates if you're going into a certain area of work. Either that, or they're just curious to see what you achieved. |
I did English lit A level, did you do Paradise lost?

My high school diploma has someone else's name on it.
I didn't really read it much further than that; even after I asked for one with my legal name, they miss-spelled it and gave me incorrect transcripts. I haven't graduated from a university as of yet, and I haven't declared a major. |
I have a video production trade degree. I'm content with it.
|
I should have a vet tech degree and a communications degree for my majors but I was forced to drop out a few months before finishing. I'm going to be working on a business degree once I get money to since I want to own my own business.
