I just take pain killers at the first signs on the pain worsening (I do give it time and a heating pad to try and get to it go away, though most of the time it doesn't).

I don't get them where I feel like vomiting but it is usually quite bad but I get a lot of bad headaches so I don't like taking them for that as well. I don't want to be taking them too frequently.

Well, I've already had Swine Flu and I'm not sure if they give the vaccine in UK.
I cannot discuss on this matter, except from the fact that this Dr. Baylock may be a psuedonym.

Hmm..
Vaccines can saves lives, but I know they aren't entirely safe.
Three weeks ago I had my first of three HPV vaccinations. After it, I started to feel the usual pain, but when I got home after school, I began to get feverish. Its normal, I know but I was in a huge amount of pain. I hvae my next one friday. TT_TT

They are going to give it here Pip, I don't think its really safe though. They're supposed to have "rushed" the security checks to get it out quicker.

fiarra, you have made a great point that I wish I had covered. The FDA doesn't approve medicines or treatments all willy-nilly.

We've also had the vaccine before (or at least a version of this vaccine, see previous outbreaks of swine flu), so to say it came out of nowhere is short-sighted.

You know, the FDA has approved things and then stepped on it's own feet before XP If wouldn't be the first time they have rushed to put things out there.

They approve the flu vaccine, but there have been many chases of chronic illnesses caused by it due to all the chemicals/metals in it like mercury.

They approve things that are deemed "safe" even though they know they aren't always as safe as they claim it is. I've learned this through my one or two of my classes in school.

There's no such thing as "safe." Have you ever watched a drug commercial?

The FDA is responsible for evaluating the risk a medicine or procedure has upon the target patients. The FDA is also responsible for ensuring that companies that manufacture medicines release all relevant information (such as side-effects) to the public. Sometimes they will even designate dosage differences between over-the-counter and prescription drugs.

The FDA approves risky drugs in the hopes that the benefits outweigh the risks. Sometimes they're wrong and the risks are higher, but most of the time they're right and the drugs are beneficial.

In 1976, 48,161,019 Americans were immunized for swine flu. 25 died from an immunopathological response to the vaccine. No, it's not "safe," because there were deaths, but the risk was negligible (5.19E-7%, or 0.000000519%) because such a miniscule number of people were affected.

So again, I'm opposed to being vaccinated, but not for this reason.

The vaccine made lots of people at my school sick ---I got sick with it too and it wasn't that bad. Just aching splitting head pains (I get sick around this time of year and it combined with swine flu) D:

The first swine flu vaccine was a synthetic nasal mist.
The actual H1N1 injection contains a dead viral strain so that your immune system can start to build antibodies for it. (and the last time I checked, they weren't readily available as of yet. Also that the nasal mist has only been administered to those most at risk for H1N1)

As with all vaccines, you get feverish and pain/swelling at the injection site. It's normal because your body is rushing to that spot to fight its new invaders, luckily they're already dead.

I was a very sickly child and so I always got a flu vaccination each year. the first year that i didn't get the vaccine, I was mildly sick, so I thought "That's alright...I don't have to get one next year"
The next time I got the flu, I was incapacitated for 2 weeks, in bed, with a severe fever and I started to have hallucinations, I was really bad off but, I wasn't allowed to go to the hospital for fear of spreading it further.
A doctor came out to see me after I had been sick for a few days, and I had to be quarantined and whenever someone entered my room they had to wear a mask and gloves (I think they were supposed to have gowns too, but they probably sprayed themselves with Lysol or something haha)

My little sister was the person who took care of me, she was the only person to have gotten a flu shot and she didnt get sick at all.

The next year I got a flu shot and didn't get sick, the year after I couldn't get a shot (dirt poor V_V and somehow didn't qualify for a free or discounted shot) and I got the flu again, but it was considerably more tame than the one I had two years prior.

so with my experience, 1 flu shot every 2 years seems effective.

Lol, I think you know my opinion on the matter...or should I post my massive rant about the vaccines once more? -laughs-

I got a flu shot a few days ago, first one I ever got too. Not sure what it was specifically, but my doctor wanted me to get it. And its not something he's trying to shove into every living thing either, he didn't give my dad the shot when my dad saw him 6 hours prior. But thats cause I work around little kids. Besides, I'd RATHER get a flu shot; I can't afford to miss work, plus I can't go to work sick.

As for the article, I wasn't planning on getting that vaccine, I'm sure I'll be fine as long as I don't ignore symptoms of something being wrong.
