Okay, I'll be honest...I don't take care of my hair. Other than taking a shower twice to thrice a week, I don't put gel or perm it or even use a straightening iron. I just brush out my curls.

I have long curly hair. I'm a brunette and if you straightened out my curls, it would be 3-4 inches from the top of my butt. I have no bangs because they are long, and if I ever cut my hair to have bangs, I'd have to constantly straighten it out.

Curly bangs when brushed makes it look like puffy/afro styled bangs. The last time I cut my hair was on January 8th, back then it was in layers and it was up to the top of my chest, now it's long.

Thing is, I've been thinking of cutting my hair short...up to my shoulders or mid-neck length. But my fiance adores long hair and refuses to let my hair be any shorter than top-chest length.

I'm dying to have short hair to make it easier to brush my hair and to shampoo and condition them. Now, with my hair wet, I look drop dead gorgeous with the soft curls and everything -- but I can't keep that same hairstyle 24/7 so I leave it up as a ponytail or a bun.

Please help me decide....should I cut my hair short? Because money is tight, I'm not going to the hair salon to cut it short, but rather do it from home. And don't ask for a boy cut, the last time I had a boy cut, I got picked on because my curly hair made it look like I had an afro.

I'm pretty sure just like there is curl perming there is relaxant for curly hair so you could get your hair professionally and permanetly straightened. I'm pretty pretty sure that it can be done. I wouldn't know much more than a guess because I have straight hair so I don't have to worry about curls D:

If money is short just donate/sell your hair, you'll make bank if you sell it to the right salon, no lie.

Actually all the salons I've been to are about donations, I can't sell my hair. I've thought of it, but they only allow donations or for me to keep my hair. To be honest it felt good, I donated my hair the last two times and it stuck, my fiance donated his hair and he like it. I think I'd rather donate it, but since I'm not in a salon, I might as well trash the locks =X

As for the straightening thing...do you mean a perm? I had my hair straightened for a month because of that perm and it was horrible -- my hair felt like a wig, nevermind the fact that I looked like Cleopatra >.>

Ewwww, I'm sorry, I never knew.

That's very strange that they don't buy them D: I usually hear about places buying long hair so they can dye it and use it for clip ins for other people or hair extensions ._.

Well, I understand what it's like when your boyfriend/fiance doesn't like when you're hair is short. My ex LOVED my hair being long--He'd always take it out of my clip because he loved the way it fell around my shoulders and curled.

But don't let him dictate to you how you should wear your hair. It's YOUR hair. If you cut it, tell him to suck it up--you needed a change and it'll grow back. Right now, my hair is down to my bra-strap, and that's pretty long for me.

But because my hair is naturally curly, I usually wear it up in a clip.

Me with a friend's new born baby boy

But when I'm feeling good, and if you cut your hair to just below shoulder length or so, you could do this. I use mousse, and this is the outcome! :3

So don't let a man tell you how to wear your hair; it's yours to do with. And there's a few suggestions! :D

Yes, you shouldn't let him control how long your hair is, my b/f has accepted the fact that I prefer short hair over long hair and so As long as I don't shear it all off, he'll deal cause he nows it'll grow back before I try cutting it again. And I think you'd probably look really great with it short. There's a hairstyle I've done multiple times when cutting someones hair at the house cause it's real easy to do. Up front, the hair would be to the mid ear and slowly decend in a curve to where it's down to the mid/bottom of the neck when you get to the back.

Well...I have the same problem...pretty much anywho.

I use mousse when I want the frizz down and then I can leave my hair alone and it's pretty.

I tend to put Moroccan oil in my hair after I shower and it help keep my hair shiney and easy to work with.

I've thought about cutting my hair and my bf would be okay with it but he likes long hair and if I cut it...it would be harder for him to play with my hair which I love! So I just got over it. :)

I had naturally really curly and long hair when I was younger. And it took until I was almost 23 for my a hair texture to change, it's relaxed and short now. (I donated my hair my first time I cut it all off. It doesn't grow long enough for me to anymore, though.) My hair is wavy as hell and is a nightmare if it gets long.

I think you should do the cut that you want to do. If you still like your curls and don't want to use a relaxant, usually shoulders is about as short as I'd go because when it curls up and you cut it shorter it'll look extremely short.

Hmm. My cousin has curly hair and after she washes it she lets it dry naturally, puts a little bit of mousse in it and then uses a wide barrel curler to tame them down a bit. It looks absolutely gorgoeus! ^,^ But yeah just remember if you do decide to cut it shorter, it will be harder to control the curls because the hair is lighter so it curls more.. So yeah. Hope I helped ^,^

That hairstyle you have in the picture, that's how my hair looks EXACTLY when I get out of the shower. I don't put anything on my hair (I'm afraid of damaging it), so when I get out of the shower, my hair is like yours from top to almost bottom *pun*.

Another reason why I want to cut it, is that I have 9+ months old highlights (I got my FIRST ever maroon red highlights on my hair back in January), and they are still visible even after the salon lady said it'll be gone in 6 weeks....and unfortunately, because my hair grows very slow when it's long, even if I cut it short, you can still see the highlights.

@ Leenalia, that's how my hair looks after it's styled with mousse. When I get out of the shower and it's wet, it's soft and easy to deal with but curled. When I do that hairstyle, I fill my palm with mousse, grab different parts of my hair, and then scrunch it up with a towel to get the mousse in but also dry it so I can wear it down and curled like that. I'm getting my hair done tonight; it needs a trim, my layers need redoing, and my highlights are 3-months grown out so I look really bad xD

Thing is, I don't ever use mousse. My mom sometimes would put mousse in my hair and I HATE IT because I can feel my hair getting hard as if she put hair gel instead.

My highlights are 9+ months, I mentioned I got them on January 8th...it's now October 26th and I still have them on my hair. I can't wait until I grow out of it....I chosed maroon red as a "test" highlight because I've never gotten it before. I really wanted baby blue with lime green streaks, but Mom said that I'd look better in red, so I tried it out first.

I want my baby blue and lime green highlights =)

If you wanna cut it, go ahead and cut it, doll. ^^ If he loves you, he'll get over it. And besides, hair grows back. Your head will feel tons lighter, and your curls will tighten up a lot, but if you get the hairstyle right, you'll look amazing. ^^

I say go shorter in the back, almost to the bottom of your hair-line, then bob it. It would be really simple to maintain. Then if you want to go out you can fluff up the back or pin it up.

Since it goes down to your butt (almost) now, and you're doing it at home, I say take it slow. Cut it maybe to the middle of your back and see how you like it. If you think you can do more then, go for it. Either way, it grows back and I'm sure your boyfriend won't be too upset. :)

The only reason why he wants me to have long hair is for the Aerith Gainesborough costume for next year's Halloween. But depending on how fast it grows, I can just pull off a Rinoa Heartilly.

I think you should do whatever makes you happy.
Personally there's a certain age where hair that's down to your butt starts to just age you, and make you look so much older.

I think short hair is really cute, and if you want it short that's definitely what to do. You shouldn't let a guy make decisions about you, because it is your body and hair. If he can't love you with short hair, well obviously he wasn't a keeper. xD

Just think about what you want to do. It's a really drastic change from really long to short, and just make sure you wont end up hating it.

I say to forget what he wants, and cut it short if you want. I remember cutting my crazy long hair because I got bored of it, and hating having to take such intensive care for it. Plus, if you cut off enough, you can donate it to an organization that makes wigs for people with cancer. Just ask your salon if they have that option available. Overall, if you want to cut your hair, I say go for it. :)
