I usually don't pick up pennies or even nickels, but if it's a dime or a quarter then I will. If I need a hundred of it to actually buy anything I'm not going to pick it up and save them, if I get change I usually just cash it in at work, don't really like my purse getting bogged down with change.

I'm a packrat to begin with, so, hell yes, I'd pick it up. For some reason, even when I do pick one up, I feel the need to announce it. Even if I'm alone. "HAH! PENNY!"
I did always want to be a total jackass and play that prank where you glue a penny to the sidewalk and watch people try and pick it up.

I pick up change off the ground when no one is looking. ._.
I'd feel weird picking up a penny if I was in line or something with a bunch of people lol.
I agree with Chocobo Moon though; it is like finding treasure! I've been finding cool stuff on the ground recently... in the last two weeks or so I've found change, a Littlest Pet Shop penguin bobblehead toy thing, and a coupon for 50 cents off a pack of Marlboros.

I love hearing, well reading; all this!

My boyfriend too picks up change off the ground, even if it is only a penny. but my brother and best friend won't. They both say it isn't worth the energy, but they won't leave the change. While I have customers who don't want the pennies and leave them in my take-a-penny or one of my charity jars on the register. Which both help.
I do hate how if someone doesn't want their change, and instead of putting it in a charity jar they throw it in the garbage. Which a hobo could find (but that isn't a given).

I pick it up and keep it :3
I have a jar of pennies and other things I've picked up from the street. I think there's like $4 or something in there :P

I usually give all my change to my sister or boyfriend. I rarely keep change, with the exception of quarters. I always keep those for vending machines at school :P My boyfriend has gotten tons of coins from me. He probably makes a few bucks off me a week just by me dumping my purse out on his floor lol ;3

I always pick it up no matter what it is.
Sometimes i keep it and sometimes i don't, depends on where i am and if there are any donation boxes around.
Every penny counts whether its for me or for some charity.

I think if I wasn't at such a superficial college where you get judged for just about everything you do, I'd be picking up a lot more loose change on the ground. It's mostly pennies that I ignore - I can't help myself if it's silver and shiny... At home I have a huge jug of change which I want to fill. My dad's an avid change collector - he'll dump out his work bag and cash it at a CoinStar, usually getting about $70.
Oh, and if I see paper money on the ground - there's no way in hell I'll pass that up. I'll sort of glance around to see if someone is looking for something they dropped, but if not - it's mine! Recently I found $11 on the ground - I sure as hell was stoked.
